Great Britain Sending Inspectors Into People’s Homes To Make Sure They’re Safe For Children

I wonder how the children of Great Britain ever survived before they had government bureaucrats inspecting their homes for safety.

Health and safety inspectors are to be given unprecedented access to family homes to ensure that parents are protecting their children from household accidents.
New guidance drawn up at the request of the Department of Health urges councils and other public sector bodies to “collect data” on properties where children are thought to be at “greatest risk of unintentional injury”.
Council staff will then be tasked with overseeing the installation of safety devices in homes, including smoke alarms, stair gates, hot water temperature restrictors, oven guards and window and door locks…
Nice also recommends the creation of a new government database to allow GPs, midwives and other officials who visit homes to log health and safety concerns they spot.
The guidance aims to “encourage all practitioners who visit families and carers with children and young people aged under 15 to provide home safety advice and, where necessary, conduct a home risk assessment”. It continues: “If possible, they should supply and install home safety equipment.”
The proposals have been put out to consultation and, if approved, will be implemented next year.

This is what happens in societies that are almost entirely dependent on government. In Great Britain they have cradle to grave government health care. Hell, they’ve got a television tax that funds state-owned media.
If you think this could never happen in America you’re fooling yourself. Once you abdicate your personal responsibility for things like health to the government the door is open for the government to come in and regulate your life for you.
For your own good.

Entirely different, in adoption you chose to go through this process, same as people who want to be foster parents. In England that is not what is going to happen.

guess what…… if you have kids and someone says youre not doing your job as a mommy or daddy the same thing happens. so you know…… it take nothing more than an accusation. scary stuff.

No, it is for all subjects, it is starting with people in the system, and within 12-14 months it is to be expanded to the entire population. You lie again.

Yer a phuken joke. This is for people who are “in the system”, bad parents.

Look out, the sky is falling!

I have seen that happen here in PA, and seen CYS get their ass handed to them by magistrates and judges when the accusations proved false. In England and most other countries people do not have any legal recourse.

This right here is one of the biggest reasons not to have taxpayers paying for everyone’s health care.

Suddenly it becomes OK to ban or restrict behavior on “Health and Safety” grounds. This is prevelant in the UK. Here is another example where it becomes acceptable for the government to intrude based on that measure.

Tax payers foot the bill for people’s bad behavior and not the individual themselves. Thus the individuals have no incentive on their own to stop smoking, loose weight, etc.

This already happens here in the U.S. Try going through an adoption program. Social worker comes through your house and has a checklist. They even measure your hot water temperature.
