Grand Forks Already Spending Obama’s Economic Stimulus Money
Well, they maybe haven’t spent it yet, but they’ve got the plans in place. And according to the North Dakota Policy Council these are some of the projects they’ve got in store:
· Converting lighting in Public Library to energy efficient CFL’s.
· Land for new construction of affordable housing development.
· Acquire/rehab/convert existing building as part of the city/state homeless plan.
I keep hearing about all these new CFL light bulbs Obama’s spending is going to fund. The justification for the spending is that the reduced energy costs will save the government money. I wonder if there are any plans to pass those savings on to the taxpayer?
Somehow I doubt it.
Now remember, Obama’s $600,000,000,000 - $1,000,000,000,000 spending plan which would represent more than we spend on all of our military in a year, is supposed to stimulate the economy.
Does someone want to explain to me how changing light bulbs, building a new homeless shelter and creating yet another low-income housing project is going to stimulate the economy?
How about, instead of giving this money to government bureaucrats such as the Grand Forks City Council, we give that money to the people who need it most: The Americans it is taken from who are even now bracing themselves for some rocky economic times?
