Neither the governor’s office nor the State Law Enforcement Division has been able to reach Sanford, who left the mansion in a black SLED Suburban SUV, said Sen. Jake Knotts and three others familiar with the situation who declined to be identified.

Sanford spokesman Joel Sawyer declined to discuss with the AP where the governor was. Sawyer told the AP he was taking time to “recharge” after his failed fight against federal stimulus money.

If South Carolina’s first lady isn’t worried then I’m not worried. But even so, it’s a bit odd that there doesn’t seem to be an official explanation for where he’s at.

How can you not know where your husband is? .. or your governor for that matter? What kind of gov’t authority (while actively in office) goes into hiding “to write”? I can understand going to an undisclosed place for writing or what not, but not to inform your family or office? Sounds a bit strange and irresponsible to me.
