Government Exceeding Its Boundaries
This is an outrage.
So organizations like the Eagles or the Masons can no longer allow their membership to smoke inside their private club houses? Does this mean that cigar clubs have now been outlawed in New Jersey?
What basis does the New Jersey legislature have for regulating what legal activities take place on privately owned property? You can't even use the "Well they're open to the public" argument used for bars and restaurants here as most of these club houses are not, for the most part, open to the public. They're only open to membership.
This anti-smoking crusade is getting out of hand. What's next, a ban on salt consumption at private restaurants for "the greater good?"
Oh wait...
TRENTON, N.J. (AP) - Gamblers would not be allowed to smoke on Atlantic City casino floors or inside fraternal organizations under a measure passed Monday by a New Jersey Senate committee.
Lawmakers voted 7-0 for the measure, which also covers restaurants, bars and offices.
