GOP Leaving Congress With A “Clutter” Of Spending Bills

As bad as Republicans have been, this rather shallow effort by the media to imply that Democrats will be cleaning up Republican fiscal irresponsibility is just laughable.

The first line of the article is knee-slappingly hilarious:

WASHINGTON – Republicans vacating the Capitol are dumping a big spring cleaning job on Democrats moving in. GOP leaders have opted to leave behind almost a half-trillion-dollar clutter of unfinished spending bills.

The Democrats are going to come in and “spring clean” all this nasty Republican spending? That’s not exactly accurate, if history is our guide.
Let’s take a look at a graphical representation of proposed spending from the last couple of years:

Contrary to what some would have you believe, while we can expect a lot of things from a Democrat-controlled Congress fiscal responsibility isn’t one of them.

likwid: The entire “tax cuts for the rich” meme was based on the reduction in the rate of the capital gains tax; you know, only the “rich” invest in this country, according to the lefties. It’s also double taxation, but they don’t care about that; trying to incite class warfare is much more important to them. They are just following the teachings of their God – Karl Marx.

Correct me if I’m wrong, but the source of this graph is the same location that had a cherry-picked comparison of news coverage and economic progress between Bush and Clinton about a month ago. It was linked to stats with 2 degrees of freetardum away. Curiously, the two other links also posted an * next to the Bush stats (as did this site) without an explanation as to what the * meant, hence my moniker.

Got to love cherry-picked stats with an unlabelled Y-Axis. One can almost smell the Cheeto-crumbs falling off of the poorly-proportioned fonts.

Ryan said, …roughly equals what Bush spent on his tax cuts for the wealthy and the Iraq war?

Four questions that Ryan will either outright dismiss or ignore:

How did the government “spend” money for what you deride as “tax cuts for the wealthy”, when all they really did was allow people to keep more of what is already their money?

When a store has a sale (say 10% off all goods), is that store “spending” money on that sale? Why do stores spend so much money advertising their sales if the sale is equal to a loss?

When the “wealthy” pay the vast majority of taxes in this country, isn’t every tax cut for the “wealthy”? That sure does make it easy to demonize, no matter how healthy this sale (tax cut) was for the store (economy).

IF you don’t believe it? Just wait and see. The Chief has recorded some figures. We shall see,,,

Ryan’s problem is that he is not reality based.

He doesn’t realize that he’s a tool and that the reality paints a picture of anything but “tax cuts for the wealthy”.

At this point in the game, he’s either in some serious denial, is just plain ignorant, or he’s a fool. He can’t claim ignorance with me anymore, as I have given him those figures and findings provided in the links above. Ryan is a fool in serious denial.

One can only hope that one day he’ll drop his faith based reasoning and join those of us who are reality based.

You don’t “spend” money on tax cuts.

They produce more revenue than you would have had before.

  • Ryan

So Democrat spending proposals (for things like health care, poverty, and other projects) each year roughly equals what Bush spent on his tax cuts for the wealthy and the Iraq war?

  • 2Hotel9

r, that also explains why Leftards/Democrats do not want to fight terrorism. They are in ideological agreement with Islam.

likwid: Ann Coulter really nailed it when she called liberalism a religion. They regard anyone who deviates from their ideology a heretic; or maybe an infidel. That would explain certain things, wouldn’t it?

  • robert108

More leftie lies, Rob. Remember, it was Clinton who called govt confiscation of our earnings “investments”. They lie; that’s all they have.
Only a leftie would call confiscating less of our money “spending”. They arrogantly bank on the economic ignorance of the general public.

  • WOOFX

Bush has never vetoed a spending bill
in his six years in office,

    knee-slappingly hilarious

    Not so much.

    WHere’s the graph from?
    Where’s the war monies?

  • http://sayanythingblog.com robport

So Democrat spending proposals (for things like health care, poverty, and other projects)

I love how he phrases that. Sure Democrats want to spend tons more of our tax dollars, but it’s all for health care and old people and if you oppose it you obviously hate sick people and old people.

Honestly, Ryan, I don’t think you could be any dumber if you tried. Plus, I thought you weren’t reading this blog any more…
