“Global Warming is Over”

What issue are the socialists going to coop next?

Physicist Phil Chapman, the first native-born Australian to become an astronaut with NASA [he became an American citizen to join up, though he never went into space], said pictures from the U.S. Solar and Heliospheric Observatory (SOHO) showed no spots on the sun.

He said the world cooled quickly between January last year and January this year, by about 0.7 degrees Centigrade.

“This is the fastest temperature change in the instrumental record, and it puts us back to where we were in 1930,” Chapman wrote in The Australian Wednesday. “If the temperature does not soon recover, we will have to conclude that global warming is over.”

The whole point is that sunspot activity is nearly a standstill.  The last time this happened, the so-called Maunder Minimum, the Earth entered the Little Ice Age.  I seem to remember that the Sunspots were increasing in the 70’s which may have led to the warming period that we’ve seen since then.  It’s an interesting relationship that leads to the warming and cooling period.

An alternative theory of global warming is that a strong solar magnetic field, when there is plenty of sunspot activity, protects the Earth from cosmic rays, cutting cloud formation, but that when the field is weak — during low sunspot activity — the rays can penetrate into the lower atmosphere and cloud cover increases, cooling the surface.

How could they miss that big bright circle in the sky when it comes to explaining climate change?

How can government control and regulate individual, corporate and industrial behavior if it’s the sun’s fault and not humans’ faults?

That’s your rhetorical answer.

Uh oh! Does this mean we are headed for another ice age?

Zsa Zsa on April 23, 2008 at 12:28 pm

We could be ZZ, which is a whole lot more scarier than a bit of warming.

But probably not.  I’m going to eat, drink and be merry as long as I can.

What’s going to happen to US industry when the global warming extremists like John McCain double the price of electricity?  I would think all these factories will close and set up in countries where they aren’t scared of technology.

Me too! Is it super dooper frosty cold Miller time yet?

How could they miss that big bright circle in the sky when it comes to explaining climate change?

They didn’t.  They just set it as a constant, just as they did for just about everything else besides CO2.

kbiel on April 23, 2008 at 12:54 pm

As someone who’s taken multiple courses in atmospheric sciences (including climatology), as well as geology, I’m of the opinion that the onset of another ice age will occur within my lifetime.

I bet this will give Al Gore nightmares.  Just wait for people to start attacking this guys credibility and saying he is in the pocket of big oil.

A political party cannot be all things to all people. It must represent certain fundamental beliefs which must not be compromised to political expediency, or simply to swell its numbers.

Maybe they were seeing spots because they were looking at the sun too long?

Where is Woof, Rbb, Hannitized, Lestat, AV, and the rest of the liberal regualars to defend thier beloved dreaded global warming that by pure chance happens to have given them a crisis for which they can advance thier agenda of less freedom and more liberalism?

I noticed they seem to employ the ‘don’t respond’ tactic to credible science that cuts off liberalism at the knees.

HG on April 23, 2008 at 03:37 pm

Let get this straight. If I hype global cooling with the same unscientific methods as Gore used and if I get the support of the eco wing nuts on the left I could make $100,000,000. in profits from a reverse carbon scam. I’ll proclaim that global cooling will increase the polar bear population to dangerous levels and the coastal cities will all freeze over. That’s the ticket.

I’m in. Get your own scam this one is mine.

I wish we could Puzzle, but you liberals won’t let little things like facts deter you from skewing reality to advance liberalism.  I’m afraid we’ll have to stick around long enough to put the final nail in the coffin of this hoax.

HG.  Or communists, socialists, democrats.  Same philosophy, different names.

I think these links will result in the absence of resident liberals for a short time.

RZ, if the majority of Americans elect a majority of Democratic leaders this November, as they did in 2006, will you consider the majority of Americans communists or socialists?

rbb, when the majority of Americans elected a majority of Republican leaders in 1994 and a Rep pres in 2000 and 2004, did you consider the majority of Americans wingnuts or moron backwoods hicks?

Hoodlumman on April 23, 2008 at 05:03 pm

Wingnuts

Stupid socialists…

Puzzled:

Oh, thank god, you all can move on to other things now.

Actually the left will probably come up with something really clever like “rising obesity is slowing the suns orbit and we will spiral into the sun in ten years.”

Of course the fix will be imposing a vegetarian diet on everyone but Democrat elites.

No, darlin. As usual you got everything ass backwards. Buy a small home, insulate the hell out of it, spend the rest of the money on fuel, food, basic raw materials and ammunition.

If they didn’t vote, they don’t really count. That’s like saying “The majority of superbowl fans were cheering for team A"..."WRONG AGAIN STUPID! The majority of superbowl fans weren’t watching!”

Most of the time I’m there with you...but RBB’s kinda right on this one.

Oh, thank god, you all can move on to other things now.

Like the argument for gay marriage! “It’s not that big of a deal, we should stop spending all this time on it.” Well, it it ain’t such a big deal...why are you pushing it?

Obama/Biden is not change. It’s more of the same.

Kenny on April 23, 2008 at 08:36 pm

No! Seriously, you don’t have to keep proving yourself. We all thought you were at least a 53. I feel bad now. For you, of course. Struggling your way through life with a tiny, encephalitic brain, riddled with Democrat stupidity and syphilis. A true picture of a mercy killing begging for a .22 in the brain pan. Squish.

RBB,

President Bush won all 3 official and impartial recounts in Florida.

Considering there were no other official recounts anywhere else in the nation, I have to conclude that you are full of it.  But if you want to believe otherwise that’s ok because it only grates on you. (ya gotta love that.)

I will give you this tidbit… Gore was the first loser in a presidential race to concede to the victor in the same race, twice.

Oh BTW, shame on the Democrats for attempting to disqualify the votes from our service members stationed on foreign soil.
