Global Warming Extremists Mugged By Reality

Couldn’t happen to a finer bunch of folks!

A compiled list of all the sources can be seen here. The total amount of cooling ranges from 0.65C up to 0.75C — a value large enough to wipe out nearly all the warming recorded over the past 100 years. All in one year’s time. For all four sources, it’s the single fastest temperature change ever recorded, either up or down.
Scientists quoted in a past DailyTech article link the cooling to reduced solar activity which they claim is a much larger driver of climate change than man-made greenhouse gases. The dramatic cooling seen in just 12 months time seems to bear that out. While the data doesn’t itself disprove that carbon dioxide is acting to warm the planet, it does demonstrate clearly that more powerful factors are now cooling it.
Let’s hope those factors stop fast. Cold is more damaging than heat. The mean temperature of the planet is about 54 degrees. Humans — and most of the crops and animals we depend on — prefer a temperature closer to 70.
Historically, the warm periods such as the Medieval Climate Optimum were beneficial for civilization. Corresponding cooling events such as the Little Ice Age, though, were uniformly bad news.

If the global warming crowd were actually concerned with the environment they would drop their hysterical calls for draconian regulation on you and me and admit that the matter deserves more thought.
Or if my theory is that the people driving the movement are a bunch of leftists who have only been using the issue to advance their Marxist agenda they’ll keep right on ignoring the fact that we seem to be in a cooling cycle.
What’s really scary is that the presumptive conservative (yeah right) nominee of the Republican party has bought in and is advancing the Marxist agenda on global warming. How ’bout our candidate wakes up and uses this information to pull back his draconian carbon tax and trade scam before it gets foisted upon us?

The Marxist spin machine has replied with this knee-slapper: Global cooling gives us more time to get ready for the inevitable and dangerous warming!

The biggest fraud in the history of mankind will attempt to soldier on. They have no other choice, at this point.

    groetzinger,

Feel free to contribute as much of your own money and time to the causes you feel are most beneficial to the planet. But keep your hand out of MY pocket while doing so.

  • Mickey

If it gets any warmer we will freeze to death.

Time to start planning that highway to Asia.

  • 2Hotel9

Well said, PapaIndia! My thoughts exactly. Smack these morons in the face with falling temps and increased Arctic and Antarctic ice until they are bloody and comatose.

Check this article out. Glaciers moving towards the sea faster? Could it possibly be that the glaciers are GROWING at an accelerated rate? Glaciers move faster when the mass of ice at their heads and in the main body is growing. Not the other way around. If it was because of warming the glaciers would be shrinking. That is what the screeching environazis have been screeching, that glaciers are shrinking because of global warming, now they want to screech that glaciers are growing because of global warming. Can’t have it both ways.

Taxing energy consumption will only hurt businesses and the U.S. economy.

I doubt it will hurt businesses that much. It’ll hurt people. I expect I’ll be ok, but I fear for my children and their children should they have some.

Considering that you’re only comparing a one-month low point against two decades of statistics,

It’s a one year extreme cooling trend, not one month. Secondly the extremists have no problem using warm weather to advance their agenda. Third, none of the climatologists predicted this, so how strong are their predictive tools? Finally it looks like we’re on a cooling trend over the last ten years.

It just seems what is good for the planet is good for everyone.People seem to be more interested in more money, more money than the health of the planet.

Global cooling gives us more time to get ready for the inevitable and dangerous warming!

And they’re right. In several billion years the sun will run out of hydrogen and collapse. As it collapses the heat and pressure will ignite the helium (in a fusion sort of way.) The energy released from that more energetic reaction will cause our sun to go nova blowing out the diameter of the sun to Earths orbit.

We’re bound to heat up then.

I believe that it is a historic fact that global cooling and ice ages occurred quite rapidly with little advance warning.

I have more of the same at the Monkey Tennis Centre, including thoughts on how the alarmists will try and spin this. Glad to see you got linked at Pajamas – this needs to get out there!

This is one of those days I dreamed of when I started blogging!

  • Politically Incorrect

Obviously, greenhouse gas emissions dropped drastically in the past year. If the alarmists claim that increasing greenhouse gas emissions are the primary cause of global warming, then the opposite must be true as well in regards to global cooling. It must be GWB’ fault. A poor economy translates to less industrial activity which translates to less greenhouse emissions which translates to global cooling.

    groetzinger,

It just seems what is good for the planet is good for everyone.People seem to be more interested in more money, more money than the health of the planet.

While I agree that reducing pollution is a good thing, you fail to realize that wealth is the only practical solution to pollution. More money, more money, as you put it, means a cleaner planet. Poor people don’t….CAN’T…afford to care! They don’t have the time or energy to worry about anything but feeding the kids today. The free market works, after all, if it didn’t Kathy Lee would still be using child labor to make whatever it was she makes, but she doesn’t and neither does Nike. As a matter of fact, today you are hard pressed to find trans-fats if you had to.

So to that I say, yes, more money, more money because I want a cleaner environment!

Government involvement is rarely a workable solution, look at where Congress has placed their bet — ethanol. Today studies indicate this may be worse for “the cause” of global warming then gasoline.

Eisenhower warned against the, “danger that public policy could itself become the captive of a scientific-technological elite.”

    Chris, review the information here:
    http://wattsupwiththat.wordpress.com/
Including the substantial studies of our climate monitoring stations showing nearly 70% are severely impacted by being improper placed or maintained resulting in an error of greater then 2°C (with 14% over 5°C).

OK. And your big plan is to allow socialists to decide this? You can not possibly be serious.

  • docdave

Could it be that all the hot air vented from the human-based global warming nuts have left the planet in a frigid condition?

  • 2Hotel9

Gang, make a pass through Mike’s AO. He is just getting under way and is doing it right nicely! Mike, welcome to the scrum.

This us just an attempt to tax energy consumption, which is just what the McCain/Liebermann bill introduced to the Senate will do. Taxing energy consumption will only hurt businesses and the U.S. economy. Even Bill Jefferson Clinton said that we need to slow down our economy.

And I apologize for using a politician’s middle name.

  • http://SayAnythingBlog.com The_Whistler_ofnd

I believe the data we’re looking at is satellite observations. That’s going to be the BEST source of data.

Of course even a twenty year trend, let alone the one year trend doesn’t prove a thing on a planet for billion years old.

  • 2Hotel9

chris, here you go. Get educated. Then get pissed at the people who are lying to you and working everyday to destroy the economies and agriculture that you and every other human depend upon to live.

  • Wing Chun Geologist

If anyone wants an explanation for why the planet is not really getting warmer, check out this article by MIT Atmospheric Physics professor Richard Lindzen.

Considering that you’re only comparing a one-month low point against two decades of statistics, I don’t think you should count your chickens before they hatch. What are you going to say if it jumps back up?
