According to the usage agreement that auto dealers must agree to before accessing the federal government’s “cash for clunkers” website, when they log on their computer officially becomes the property of the federal government.

Whenever the government begins some new initiative, mission creep is a definite concern. At one time our federal tax code was a simple flat tax that existed simply to raise revenue. Now it’s a gigantic, complicated pile of law that is routinely used not just to raise revenue but to manipulate our behavior as well through a maze of deductions, exemptions and rebates. The interstate commerce clause was intended to facilitate trade among the various states. Now it’s used as justification for regulations as varied as the federal government’s drug code to mandates on how many pepperonis must be on a frozen pizza.
But the federal government claiming control of your computer just for accessing a website?
Now that’s raising the bar.

And I am sure that you have to enable in Windows the right to look into your computer, your firewall will prevent any malicious data retrieval. They probably consider your computer a “federal” computer when and only when you are requesting or transmitting files to and from the government. It would probably be pretty easy for someone to upload a virus to a federal database when you are transferring files. And as far as cookies go that the chick is so concerned with, a simple wipe program will take care of that. Every site you go to leaves cookies.

This is nothing new, .gov asserts legal authority over computers which access government documents, only problem is when it goes in front of a judge it gets thrown out. They have no legal authority to do it. Yet the wording is still there, because plenty of people will roll over as soon as they receive anything making that claim.

Bottom line, you go to ANY government operated webpage you best have strong security and anonymizing software, else you will have a never ending litany of virusi, trojans and other unpleasant issues. The same with following any link posted by dinothefakehomo, buzzy and realitydenyingboob.
