Global Warming Upate: It’s Snowing In South Louisiana

I hate snow.
I moved down here from Indiana in 1976 because of…..snow. And ice. And cold.
Right now, even as we speak, there are school closings, court and government office closings, and so on in the New Orleans area because of…..snow. Did I mention that I hate snow? I will live nowhere that the noun “snow shovel” has to be part of my vocabulary.
It hasn’t snowed here since 1994. It can stop now.

Despite the fact that a lot of environmentalists seem like they stay up at night thinking of ways to look and sound ridiculous why all the cynicism about global warming? The only thing your’re supposed to stop doing to prevent it is burn less fossil fuels. It’s not like you have to give up sex and junk food.

    correction:

What I have written So while Americans of all stripes, to include the founder of our national park system, Teddy Roosevelt, I omitted, love the environment.

    Sorry about that.

The recent snowfall in Louisiana is evidence of the need to abandon capitalism to avoid calamity. /sarcasm

every attempt to create policy or regulations related to the environment

First of all it’s not true. A more important point is that the environmental movement is the new home of the socialists.

Is South Louisiana like Florida, they get a 1/2 inch of snow and they close the airports?

I remember days when i was up before the plows and two-trackin it into work…heh

Ignornat(sic) people (read conservatives) don’t see problems until they are affected.

Oh, I don’t know about that, DINO, old sock.
Unlike your Mother I don’t have you living in my basement and I recognize you as a problem well enough.

  • Dino

It is true. Conservatives fought the removal of lead from gas and paint despite its detrimental effects on children. They’d rather make money than protect public health.

The brainstems are still fighting environmental regs. It’s a constant battle. That’s why the EPA is structured as it is.

If only we could be more like a third world country with no environmental protection!

  • Dino

It’s all just a commie plot, Chief. That or it’s Barney Frank’s boyfriend’s fault.

  • Dino

That’s the funny thing, Whistler. I grew up hearing that ignorance from people who thought children were eating paint chips to get the lead.

The truth is that the paint formsd dust which children get on their skin and then get in their mouths. But since the effects were mostly being felt by inner city kids, people like you weren’t concerned. Lead has a marked effect on the brain development of small children.

It’s like asthma. When it was mostly an problem among inner city kids, the people like you blamed it on roach droppings. Now that the problem of poor air wuality has moved to the burbs and the “good people’s” kids are having asthma problems, it’s seen as a threat.

Ignornat people (read conservatives) don’t see problems until they are affected.

If the current solar trend continues, it will soon be so cold, that Al Gore will be the only one on planet Earth who doesn’t think Al Gore is nuts.

  • http://magyartruth.blogspot.com/ Chief RZ

Dino. Are you old enough to remember the 1975 Time magazine warning of global freezing? Have you read about where some of the thermometers were relocated to?
    Near (HOT) cooling towers.

In any case, the star called our sun creates heat. The same situation that is causing Mars to heat up a fraction of a degree.

Oh, it snowed in Iraq last winter too, but don’t let facts like this confuse you. “uncharacteristic weather patterns…..” So (human created or made) global warming caused snow. OK.

Did human activity cause the last ice age or the last warming when Greenland was mostly green?

Al refused to stand and deliver in several countries in Europe where they ask honest questions.

Yeah, the word “organ” definitely comes to mind when you’re speaking of the NYT and it has only a bit to do with communism.

legitimate sources and dismiss the New York Times as an organ of communism.

    More qualifiers.

Here is the “link” with the NYT going back quite some time. …. about 88 years now.

My question was a way to open the door to discussions about governmentally created and mandated monopolies.

On topic. In five more years, I will collect a bet (word only) from one individual who said that LA would be underwater by 2013.

A more important point is that the environmental movement is the new home of the socialists.

    TW,

Counterintel types referred to the Environmentalists in Europe, at least in Germany, as Watermelons : Green on the outside, Red to the core.

When the chips are down I think democracy is a less important goal than is the protection of the planet from the death of life, the end of life on it. This has got to be imposed on people whether they like it or not

So while Americans of all stripes, to include the founder of our national park system, Teddy Roosevelt, Communists have often infiltrated seemingly unrelated political groups or movements and taken over their leadership.

Oleg Kalugin, the one-time head of counter intelligence for the Russian KGB, told Eyewitness News that it was no problem to find Americans who were willing to sell out (the United States) ….

… Kalugin supervised hundreds of spies while working for the KGB, and he spent much of his time trying to recruit Americans to help the Russians, including some famous names. Persons with left-leaning politics were always targeted first…

I specialized in active measures, disinformation, deception and recruitment,” he said.

Remember the suspicion among conservatives during the Vietnam conflict that the anti-war movement was aligned with communists? Kalugin says it was true, that the KGB thoroughly infiltrated peace groups, funded peace organizations, even published peacenik magazines.

The environmental movement was also targeted for KGB infiltration, he says, with the simple message that the best way to preserve nature was to work against the system that would exploit it for profits.

Dino, that was a nasty comment. I think I will move on. For many people, facts and Truth are foreign to them. They either can not understand it, nor are able to discriminate between lies and truth. Good and Bad. Evil and Generosity.

The past 10 years of cooling temps mean absolutely NOTHING. It’s all those “hot” years before that that matter. I for one do not think that it was frigid in the 1960s, or that as far back as when the Vikings were traipsing around the Atlantic, grapes were growing in what is now Newfoundland (hence their name for the place, Vinland). /sarcasm

  • Pilgrim

Yep, we country hicks didn’t know nuthin’ bout paintin’ no houses. Hell, I never knew houses were supposed to be painted until my first trip to the big city. We never heard of such a thing.

It’s a good thing, too, since those inner city kids were exposed to lead paint and we weren’t.

    You moron.

    Pil,

Hate snow? Not me. Can’t get enough of the Sierra cement (our snow is not as dry as in most areas). There is nothing like the scenery and serenity of a winter landscape. The slopes, the sights, the ambiance… gotta have it.

  • Pilgrim

There is nothing like the scenery and serenity of a winter landscape.

Yeah, looks great on a postcard or a Currier and Ives calendar.

I’m sorta fond of being able to sit in a lawn chair in a bathing suit and sunglasses and a tall cool drink – in January.

I suppose if one were retired and finacially abble to watch the snow pile up outside and not have to leave the house to work in it, then it would be tolerable. Fireplace. Music. Adult beverage. Not having to GO OUTSIDE INTHE FRAKIN’ SNOW.

    That’s not so bad.

  • Dino

Uncharacteristic weather patterns in both directions are symptoms of global warming. If you weren’t simply brainstems you’d know that.

But Al Gore is just trying to ruin your fun. That’s all it is.

You’ll deny global warming like you denied the failure of free-market capitalism. How’d that work out for you so far?

  • welder4

Dino : you are the one not listening the to the facts, you are listening to bought and paid for so-called scientists that would sell their own mother for a buck and we listen to the 32,000 scientists with 10,000 phd’s included and we read everything we can find on this and we come to the conclusion it is a tax thing, they want to charge us for the air we breathe . It is a power thing, maybe if the people who have swallowed this whole can wake up we can put an end to this folly called global warming , the Lord is thumbing his nose at all of the alarmists now by making our weather colder .

  • http://baldheadedgeek.blogspot.com/ Bald-Headed Geek

Talk to any GWA (global warming alarmist) and they’ll screech about how the past 10 years of cooling temps mean absolutely NOTHING. It’s all those “hot” years before that that matter. They seem to not realize that it was frigid in the 1960s, or that as far back as when the Vikings were traipsing around the Atlantic, grapes were growing in what is now Newfoundland (hence their name for the place, Vinland).

The climate change acolytes will claim this as evidence of the need to abandon capitalism to avoid calamity.

  • Mickey

The UN IPPC is mainly comprised of climate activists and political appointees. Of course, global warming is an issue that needs to be discussed, examined, studied and even argued over, by the scientific community. What the study of global warming does not need is the politicization of the issue.

The politicization of issues, without regard to reality or truth, have served as the blueprints for state of the world at the moment. The movement to deliberately separate real science and real truth is a juggernaut- and if we don’t stop it, we will pay the price.

The media has created and framed the science of global warming. Politicians and celebrities are given center stage and scientists who are interested in science- and thus cannot be counted on to respond in the approved manner- are ignored.

The public is being manipulated by those they trusted to bring them the truth; but who instead resort to postmodern rhetoric with its neverending cycle of paradoxical accusations and hysteria.

  • Dino

The brainstem faction has fought every attempt to create policy or regulations related to the environment. It gets in the way of their money-making and selfish, hedonistic lifestyle.

Chief, I don’t do quizzes from people who won’t read links from legitimate sources and dismiss the New York Times as an organ of communism.

  • Pilgrim

    Dino,

Check the thermometer. The globe isn’t warming. It’s cooling. Has been since the 1990′s.

What’s the temp in mommy’s basement right now? Inquiring brainstems want to know.
