Giddy Fargo Forum Publishes Video Of Barack Obama Speech At Democrat State Convention

Yipee.

Two months after North Dakota’s primary, the state’s Democratic party still managed to attract Barack Obama and Hillary Rodham Clinton for the opening day of its convention Friday.
“Some people think the Democrats can’t win in North Dakota, so we shouldn’t put too much time in here,” Obama told a crowd of more than 15,000. “I tell you what, we didn’t fly over North Dakota. We landed.”

Watch the entire speech below. The speech starts about nine minutes into the video, so scrub forward.

You can view the video here.  I haven’t watched it.  Mostly because I’ve already heard Obama say empty things about “hope” and “change” and don’t really see the point in doing it again while a bunch of smug ND Democrats stand around him as though they’ve accomplished something by bringing this campaign season’s version of George McGovern to the state.

The Republican state convention was this last weekend, but the Fargo Forum couldn’t be bothered to provide any video footage of that event.

Of course, this is the same publication that cast aspersions at Republican House candidate Duane Sand for working for a national (and thus “out of state") organization like Americans for Prosperity before he was a candidate but never breathes a word about the North Dakota Democrat party getting 80% of its campaign and operating money from out of state.

Fair?  Balanced?  Objective?  Not even a little bit.

Maybe Jack, “the partisan hack” Zaleski is hoping his involvement in bankruptcy fraud will be pardoned and Bill Marcile’s anti-trust concerns will be quashed by the free lunch candidates.

Call me a bitter partisan hack, but I can’t help getting ticked about crap like this.  If the Fargo Forum wants to claim to be objective then fine.  They should be objective.  But if they’re going to skew and distort for the Democrats, at least be honest about that with the public.

The ND Republican convention was last week?  John McCain must have drawn a big crowd and a lot of publicity for visiting our state.  I cannot believe the Fargo Forum or any T.V. station didn’t broadcast this historical event.

McCain didn’t show up at the NDGOP convention...but Ag Secretary Ed Schafer did, and Schafer being on the cabinet means he’s tied for highest-ranking ND political official of all time.

I’ll grant that Obama is undoubted the bigger draw, but fair is fair no?  I think it’s great the Forum provided video, but why not do both?  The Forum certainly had staff on hand.  And heck, the NDGOP even took video I’m sure they’d have provided to the Forum for free.

So what gives?

Rob:  Question. Was McCain supposed to show up? Was he scheduled?

Oh, sorry.  I didn’t word that very good.  He didn’t show up because he wasn’t scheduled.  I don’t even know if they tried to get him, though I’m sure everyone would have loved to have him.

Rob, you are such a bitter partisan hack. There, do you feel better now?

I know you want to equate the Sec. of Ag. (albeit it for 8 months) speaking at the Rep. convention with both democratic presidential candidates speaking at the Democratic convention, but it simply isn’t the same thing at all.  But the fact that there were maybe 1500 in the ballroom of a hotel for the Ag. secretary with approximately 16-18000 at the Alerus Center and national media in attendance would likely be tilted towards the Democratic event.

I would venture a guess that the Rs did try to get McCain, but he was out fundraising, which he desperately needs to do right now.

So please Rob, don’t be so hard on yourself. You usually aren’t so introspective.
