“Get This Man a TelePrompter”®

…is the title of a John Hinderaker post over at Power Line:

John runs the number on Obambi’s statement, and figures that it would only take “11,308 years of proper tire inflation to equal ‘all the oil that they’re talking about getting off drilling.’ ”
Wow! 11,308 years! That would run well into the second term of Obambi’s 57 state Presidency! Heh.

Why are you all down on Obama for this? 11,308 years is quite achievable as time is flexible when Obama wants it to be. After all, his two four year terms will really take eight to ten years!

  • Spartacus

    11,308 years!

Ummm…quoting the really bad 80′s or early ’90′s re-make of “King Kong” “just a stroke of the clock, geologically speaking”

  • http://ndgoon.blogspot.com/ goon

I have one word for Obama: MORON.

  • Spartacus

And Obama’s statement closely resembled that of someone who had suffered a stroke!

Early strokes aren’t as infrequent as you may have been lead to believe!

  • Hannitized

Wrong question. Since regular tuneups are preventative maintenance, they don’t significantly increase fuel efficiency.

    Really? Really?

While record-high gas prices have captured the attention of the public and Congress, oil and gas companies are deceptively claiming they can relieve
the economic pain if allowed to drill in protected coastal waters and in the
Arctic. But as the U.S. Department of Energy’s projections show, more
drilling will do nothing to reduce what drivers are paying at the pump now
    or in the near future.
Fortunately, there are alternatives to drilling that will
allow drivers to lower their fuel bills immediately. NRDC’s new analysis
of measures for increasing the fuel efficiency of cars on the road right now
shows that by driving more smoothly, keeping vehicles properly maintained,
and using transportation alternatives one day per week, the average driver
can save about $800 on gas per year.
With the support of Congress, we can
reduce fuel consumption and bring lasting relief from high gas prices to
    consumers right now.

Sounds like you are attempting yet another of your hack jobs here.

I suppose it would to a person that COMPLETELY IGNORES WHAT THE U.S. DEPARTMENT OF ENERGY HAS TO SAY!!!

  • Spartacus

    You can’t “save” energy;

Meh, given his daily gaffes, maybe he meant store energy and has plans for enormous flywheels stationed strategically across the country. It would fit the twits meme.

    Eleven

    Thousand

    Years

A number, apparently too large for Hackjobitized!
(As is any number greater than the combined number of his fingers and toes, which glide up his long board and hang into the kiddie pool!)

  • Hannitized

Did he also calculate and combine the effects of the tune-ups as well? Or is this just another hack-job?

  • http://proof-proofpositive.blogspot.com/ proof_positive

    Poor math-impaired Hackjobitized!

Even if the tune ups improved gas mileage ten times more that the calculated tire inflation numbers, you’d still be looking at a thousand years before you hit parity!

Maybe Hannitized needs a TelePrompter®, too! Heh.
Little Orphan Hannie: Do you ever even think before you type?

BTW, Han-job: Eleven thousand years is a really big number!

You can’t “save” energy; all you can do is save money by using less energy. That’s what the lefties want: we use less energy, we make less money, we are less rich and less powerful. The leftie wet dream.

  • http://magyartruth.blogspot.com/ Chief RZ

This guy is one arrogant person. Since about 1970, people in University were pretty much socially promoted. He must think most all of the people in the USA are ignorant. PM and proper tire inflation are required in the maintenance manual. They even gave away tire pressure gauges free after the idiots forgot to check their own tires and they blew up. Now, we have to endure this!

  • http://insanereindeer.blogspot.com/ Kenny

Absolutely. Without a real number of the percentage of cars on the road that have significantly low tire pressure, and how low that pressure is, no actual calculation can be made. In other words, both the Dept and Obama are just makin’ it up!

Well, it also lumps tires pressure (which doesn’t make that much of a difference) with regular oil changes (which DO make a difference), and regular maintainence. Then it also lumps in taking the bus one day a week, without giving solid numbers on how this will save money (even though buses are more expensive per individual mile than individual driving), and VOILA, 800 dollars a year saved!

In contrast: The drop in gas prices (Missouri) of 36 cents, and car pooling have already saved me close to 25 dollars over the past couple weeks. Since I keep the tires inflated and oil changed…that won’t save me ANY money.

  • robert108

    This paper is idiotic.

Inflating tires properly can increase fuel efficiency by, let’s go crazy here, 1/2 mile a gallon. Granted, that’s savings, but not much.

    This paper is idiotic.

  • robert108

But as the U.S. Department of Energy’s projections show, more drilling will do nothing to reduce what drivers are paying at the pump now
    or in the near future.

Their projections are wrong. Simply announcing that we are committed to increasing development brought the price down over $20/barrel. Duh.
Some of the capped wells off the CA coast could be brought back into production by the end of this year, if Pelosi got off her fat ass and quit funneling money to the terrorists.

  • robert108

Did he also calculate and combine the effects of the tune-ups as well?

Wrong question. Since regular tuneups are preventative maintenance, they don’t significantly increase fuel efficiency. The right question is: “Did he factor in the cost of those tuneups? Also, did he calculate the carbon footprint of those tuneups?
Sounds like you are attempting yet another of your hack jobs here.

  • docdave

Did he also calculate and combine the effects of the tune-ups as well?

I see that you are as ignorant about cars as you are of everything else. Cars produced now and in the past 20 years (est), cars with fuel injectors and platinum plugs, DO NOT need frequent periodic tuneups.

han, do you perhaps supply Obama with his talking points?

  • http://www.valleydeals.com/cgi-bin/board2/YaBB.pl Kevin

When was the last time Barry O got a tuneup or inflated his tires?
