“George Will ‘Bitch Slaps’ Paul Krugman”

According to Sammy Benoit over at Yid with Lid

NYT columnist and economist Paul Krugman does not fare well on the receiving end of Will’s examination. Pertinent part about half way through the video.

One question: If the government came to you and said, “Professor Krugman, you have a car. We’re going to compel you to buy a more expensive car, but it’s not really more expensive because it’s a better car.” Wouldn’t you tell them to get off your land?

Heh.

    Krugman was "slapped silly". Lovely.

  • djer

You call that a "bitch slap", really? Krugman called Will out on his bad analogy.

  • sayanything-4416

Let the health care system collapse. I have lots of friends whose adult kids can't get coverage.

The more of that the better. Massive suffering is all this land mass deserves.

  • sayanything-4416

I watched it. Only a simplistic idiot would see it the way you did, Poof.

    If the shoe fits……

  • MarkSD

Hard to believe you have any friends! That's why you strive for attention here.

  • sayanything-287

Sorry, I am a conservative but that was no "bitch slap," Krugman deflected it nicely. If anyone looked weak it was phony conservative George Will when he admitted that you cannot do health care piecemeal but it has to be part of a more comprehensive program

  • sayanything-6955

Krugman is a fool, has always been a fool. I thought Will handed it to him.

  • sayanything-5371

Krugman got a Nobel Prize, which is really a Useful Idiot Prize. He is a keynesian who believes that government creates wealth. The stupidest person ever to be called "economist".

  • robert108

    Agreed. Krugman is no economist.

  • sayanything-342

    Imaginary friends I'm sure.

  • sayanything-287

I'm sorry, the question is whether or not George Will "bitch slapped" Krugman, not if he is an economist. Will made an empty point that Krugman easily side stepped, he did not in any way slap him down. In fact, Krugman won on the point of the need for a comprehensive program versus piece by piece legislative remedies.

I am a conservative, but I must ask what good it does to pretend that false conservative made a liberal look bad when it did not happen? How does that benefit the conservative cause?

  • I don't like to

Same show, I think, conservative extremist/Bush appointee,Cokie Roberts says Dems should, and will pass health care reform because AMERICAN'S WANT IT!

  • sayanything-5371

You are full of it here, Neiman. There is no need for a "comprehensive program". Most Americans are happy with the health care they have and don't want ANY health care program from the government.

  • sayanything-4808

No, and the polls and surveys clearly show they don't want what you're peddling. They want the costs to come back down to what they can afford, not what a gigantic insurance corporation or the government can afford.

Your plan is just a prescription for feeding greed and finishing off the system entirely, but you know that very well because like every other liberal out there, you're shallow and have very little empathy for others. As long as you feel like you win, you don't care what the damage is.

  • sayanything-101

Krugman is shifty-eyed and creepy. He is also wrong.

  • sayanything-4642

the 58% that will be mad if something doesnt pass has got to be the stupidest poll in weeks….. who DOESNT want SOMETHING passed. i know i do! i want to be able to buy my insurance in nebraska or nevada or wisconsin. wherever its best and cheapest. i also want to make sure lawsuits against doctors benefit the people HURT not JUST the lawyers.

  • sayanything-4642

nobody got bitch slapped…. i cant even watch those morning shows. only fox has a balance of people left and right. the alphabet soups all have one, usually weak kneed, 'conservative'. im shocked they even let george will on the air.

  • djer

    Except their Medicare.

  • sayanything-287

I did NOT say there was a need for a "comprehensive program," I am quote George Will and a point that Krugman won as far as getting Will's agreement is concerned.

  • sayanything-287

Come on Cokie is an extreme Left wing liberal, always has been.

  • http://proof-proofpositive.blogspot.com/ proof_positive

No, djer. I didn't call it a "bitch slap". I was quoting someone else. That's what those funny little dots on either side of the words represent. Try to pay attention.

  • sayanything-1317

So now you even wish ill on YOUR FRIENDS and THEIR children?

You really are a piece of filth, you sadistic STD.

  • sayanything-4416

    Stick to the topic, slug.

  • sayanything-1317

Just out of curiousity. I only ask because I'm interested in your response, not because I think it'll be right or anything, but maybe humorous.

You are a liberal/leftist. If Roberts is an "extreme conservative", how do you explain that he agrees with you on this major issue, but is a polar opposite from you?

  • sayanything-4416

I'm detecting a much more liberal viewpoint coming from Nieman these days.

Unemployment does that to a person. One realizes that the conservatives aren't about helping anyone but the "haves" and can't do enough to punish the "have-nots."

  • sayanything-4416

Yes, until you lose yours. You people are simply selfish turds.

  • sayanything-4416

The only way American slugs accept change is through pain.

  • lexslexus

The most important item spoken by Will (and not refuted by Krugman) is that 20 years from now we will be spending more on healthcare than ever. In fact, if you look at the Bureau of Economic Analysis data, spending on health, food, clothing & housing (as a % of GDP) has NOT CHANGED significantly over the last 80 years. Government interference/regulation and cost shifting (from Medicare patients to private insurance) is driving up costs for those under 65 , but the fundamental error in the discussion about health care is that cost are spiraling out of control. They CAN'T… you can only ever consume what you produce. We just love health care in America and therefore we spend more on it and less on food & clothing. Ironically, spending on recreation has increased 78% (as a % of GDP) over the last 50 years – where is the OUTCRY!?

  • sayanything-287

I am never going to be liberal and although I am no ideologue, I am a rock ribbed conservative. You are making wild assumptions that are not based on reality. Under this thread I only disagreed with the idiotic idea that by making a simple statement Will's bitch slapped anyone and although I do not agree with the idea, Will's did agree with Krugman that it would be hard to correct the health care problems outside a comprehensive plan.

I was arguing for accuracy, not for liberalism!

  • http://proof-proofpositive.blogspot.com/ proof_positive

As far as accuracy, the language I quoted was colorful and not entirely inaccurate. Maybe it's because I did my taxes today and felt like "bitch slapping" someone myself! Heh.

  • sayanything-5371

I'm not going to pay for your health care, faggot. You live a very high risk life due to your aberrance. You will pay the consequences for that, not me. You want health care get a job that provides it or earn enough to buy your own.

  • djer

And you will notice, proof, that I asked you a question. Try to pay attention.

  • bob1956

Thats the problem it is not the have and have nots! MLK & Malcolm X did not want dependency but to pull yourself (black, white & latino) up by your own bootstraps not "here have some money". We are spending ourselves to oblivion if it was started by 30 years of Conservative leadership as you like to spout off about so be it. But tripling the debt and saying its all your fault does not do poop! Grow up and think!!!!

  • I don't like to

Cokie Roberts is a female, and a Bush appointee. But, we agree, because we can both read the political winds. She is one of the rare right-wingers that can see beyond her ideological blinders and admit when her views are out of touch with main stream America (which I am a part of).

  • sayanything-287

It's okay, I was just trying to set the record straight that it was a great comment by Will's, but since Krugman ignored it, it did not rise to the level of bitch slapping IMO.

  • I don't like to

Ignoring the extreme right-wing trolls is a good tactic. Paul did the right thing.

  • http://proof-proofpositive.blogspot.com/ proof_positive

You think Cokie Roberts is a right winger? Just how delusional are you, Idiot Who was never in the GOP?

  • http://proof-proofpositive.blogspot.com/ proof_positive

"Cokie Roberts is a senior news analyst for NPR News" http://www.npr.org/templates/story/story.php?stor… , Cokie Roberts is the fourth child and youngest daughter of former ambassador and long-time Democratic Congresswoman from Louisiana Lindy Boggs and of the late Hale Boggs, also a Democratic Congressman from Louisiana who was Majority Leader of the House of Representatives. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Cokie_Roberts

Can you cite any conservative policy positions she has taken?

  • http://proof-proofpositive.blogspot.com/ proof_positive

Cokie graduated from Wellesley College. There's a list of notable graduates there, like Hillary and Madeleine Albright, Susan Estrich et. al. Please go here and pick out all the "right wingers" who graduated from there and get back to us with whatever shreds of your credibility are left: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wellesley_College

  • sayanything-5371

GOPLESS is incredibly stupid. Does he remind you of someone?

  • http://proof-proofpositive.blogspot.com/ proof_positive

Just goes to show you that the Democrat Party is the new "Home of the Whopper"! Heh.

  • farm4money

    New headline …………..

"PROOF BITCH SLAPS THE CRAP OUT OF 'I'M TOO STUPID TO BE IN THE GOP'

its the shits when your corrected with the facts

    good job Proof

  • sayanything-5371

The guy is so dumb I'm surprised he can draw a breath.

  • sayanything-34889

A conservative who has to keep telling people "I am a Conservative", lol!

Are you part of the McCain family tree?

  • sayanything-34889

Bush was no Conservative, except in your mind. Anyone appointed by Bush was certainly not a Conservative either.

Dems may pass health care but it will be because of what's in it for their pockets, not because Americans want it, which they don't.

There hasn't been one single legitmate poll taken that shows Anericans favoring the current fraud of a plan, B.O. and the Liberal Democrats are pushing.

  • sayanything-34889

But convince us that you are a conservative.

    Please, oh please!

Say it one more time. Post it one more time.

Arguing for accuracy is not repeating something out of context, Mr. "I am a Conservative".

  • http://proof-proofpositive.blogspot.com/ proof_positive

    Heh.

  • http://proof-proofpositive.blogspot.com/ proof_positive

He probably read somewhere that she'd been appointed by Bush to something or another and did the liberal long jump to the conclusion that she was a "conservative".

Bush invited Teddy Kennedy to the White House once. Look for "Right Winger Kills Girl in Car" headlines from IDLTGOP any second now!

  • sayanything-5371

Everything that GOPLESS posts is stupid nonsense. Did you know that GOPLESS is also lockem up?

He admitted it. I knew they were the same poster as the stupid remarks were so alike.

Why are the libs who post on here so dumb? Rodney has a point, Rob needs to attract a better class of trolls.

  • sayanything-287

What game are you playing? Whatever it is, it is an idiots game!

Dino said in a comment below that he thought I was sounding more liberal lately and in correcting that misconception, I made it clear that it may sound that way because I was not an ideologue, but beyond that in fact, I was truly a conservative. How else could I respond to his charge of liberalism without affirming my conservative beliefs?

You have a serious mental problem! Or you cannot read or you just did not bother to read the comments which caused my response. No matter what, your outburst is the sign of a very disturbed mind!

  • http://twitter.com/goon48 twitter-17817328

Hey Moron no one is being denied care in America.

  • http://twitter.com/goon48 twitter-17817328

    Pot kettle blac, DINO=Moron.

  • http://twitter.com/goon48 twitter-17817328

Paul Krugman is as bad as DINO, he is nothing more than a Sock Puppet and mouth piece for the NOBAMA administration.

  • http://proof-proofpositive.blogspot.com/ proof_positive

Still waiting for the Idiot Rejected by today's GOP to provide me with some of Cokie Roberts' conservative positions. Wonder if there's a reason for that?

  • sayanything-5371

Good luck with that proof. GOPLESS is a hit and run poster. He gets hit with the truth and runs away.

  • sayanything-1317

    That's nonsense.

She's a far right ideologue, but can see beyond her ideology?

I knew your response would be stupid. But that's special beyond what I expected.
