George H.W. Bush: Maddow And Olbermann Are “A Couple Of Sick Puppies”
Normally I’d respond to this sort of thing by saying that politics have always been ugly and that usually when we complain about it we harken back to some golden age of political chivalry that never actually existed. But the other day I heard Olbermann describe Michelle Malkin as a “mashed up bag of meat with lipstick” and, well, it’s hard not to agree with Bush Senior here.
I’m not for high-profile conservatives (not that Bush Senior is all that conservative, really) saying these sort of things. Sure Maddow and Olbermann deserve it, but talking about them only gives them attention. It’s like Obama and the liberals attacking Fox News, Palin, Beck and Limbaugh. That sort of thing only focuses attention on the people you, really, should want others ignoring.
Not that I think Olbermann or Maddow really have the talent to keep people’s attention all that long, but conservatives would be better off talking about the deficit and the national debt and health care. Stay focused on the issues, not the circus that is MSNBC.
