Gay Marriage Activists Encouraging Followers To “Call In Gay” To Work Tomorrow

Yes. You read that right. Call in gay.

SAN FRANCISCO (AP) – Some same-sex marriage supporters are urging people to “call in gay” Wednesday to show how much the country relies on gays and lesbians, but others question whether it’s wise to encourage skipping work given the nation’s economic distress.
Organizers of “Day Without a Gay” – scheduled to coincide with International Human Rights Day and modeled after similar work stoppages by Latino immigrants – also are encouraging people to perform volunteer work and refrain from spending money.
Sean Hetherington, a West Hollywood comedian and personal trainer, dreamed up the idea with his boyfriend, Aaron Hartzler, after reading online that a few angry gay-rights activists were calling for a daylong strike to protest California voters’ passage last month of Proposition 8, which reversed this year’s state Supreme Court decision allowing gay marriage.

Comedian and personal trainer? I read that and had to check to see if I was reading a news article or a press release for an episode of Will & Grace.
Regardless, this comes off a bit like those “everyone refrain from buying gas for one day” email campaigns you see when gas prices get really high. They don’t work, because advocacy aside people have to work. Using a sick day or a vacation day isn’t likely to bring the economy to its knees. Millions of people do that every day anyway.
Discussion question: Would you get sued for discrimination if you fired someone for “calling in gay?”

I’m sitting here looking at that picture and I’m thinking to myself; “Those three guys really do work somewhere” and I wonder how the co-workers feel about it. That has got to be

  • tom

Did you get Dino’s ok for this picture?

  • di butler

I think if fire someone for being gay, yes it is discrimination as far as the law goes. But if your employee ditches work for a non-emergency or illness, then sure, it’s your business. If the guy who thought this up is a comedian, who does he call in to? Bozo the Clown?

  • RebTex

YUa’ll shouldn’t poke fun at dino boi & his shrimpin’ buddy

    yeah… it is some what stupid Kenny… i agree…

  • di butler

That’s not really Dino’s good side, he usually like to have it taken from the rear. The picture, that is.

That picture was gross enough as is. Yes, there is something wrong with that kind of behavior!

And if being “gay” prevents one from working, YES, fire them for being unable to work. Duh.

I’d call it “you just quit” day.

    Or “you’re fired” day.

    Or “job abandonment” day.

Since when does a sexual preference give you the right to dictate when you should come to work?

So gays across the country will protest by hurting their bosses, who didn’t vote on the measure, refuse to provide services for others who didn’t vote on the measure…all to complain about something that doesn’t affect them in any way shape or form.

    Stupid all over.

you could make a case out of it – who knows who would win. ??

Gay means – 1 a: happily excited : merry b: keenly alive and exuberant : having or inducing high spirits
    2 a: bright , lively b: brilliant in color
3: given to social pleasures ; also : licentious

I like how so many gays try to convince the rest of us of how “normal” they are by cavorting naked in parades.

Gays need to build up their own institution. Marriage is for heterosexuals. I know that bothers some of the heterophobes out there, but it is what it is.

i could comment… but why start a fire?

3 words. Folsom Street Fair. If you’ve never seen those pics, then you’ve truly never been grossed out. People are half naked, dressed in freak wear, it’s a leather/S&M deal. My fave was some pics I saw of 2 gay guys who had brought their 2 little twin girls, age 2 to the street fair with leather dog collars on. BTW, this is interactive, people get fisted, strung up by their nipples, get bj’s, and people bring their kids. If there was a reason not to give kids to gays, this would be it.

I guess it’ll be tough for chicks to get their hair done tomorrow. And what will Idaho do without Larry Craigs guidance?

  • pparets

    … you think?….

  • di butler

If I was the boss, I’d tell them when they called in they could have a “gay day” everyday, and come clean out their crap and p/u their last check. That’s really responsible and showing respect to your employer by ditching them.

  • Fierce

Wow, it would really suck to actually be sick that day!

I think if I were sick that day, I’d be going in to work even if I were on the edge of dying. Wouldn’t want anyone to get the wrong idea.

Not that there’s anything wrong with that…
