Gas Prices Up 36% Since Obama’s Inauguration

image

It looks like the Obama plan to destroy working families is ahead of schedule
According to the Department of Energy gasoline prices were $183.2 before he was inaugurated. The figure that came out today is 250.2. (To get the exact details you can download the spreadsheet from the DOE.)
That’s a 36% increase in prices coming out of our pockets while the economy is going in the tank.
Hope for Change!

Damn Obama for bring on the summer driving season! He is going to make my A/C come on also!!! When will it end?

This is perhaps the most desperate and banal posting yet. And that says something.

Gas prices never go up from January to June.

    Pathetic.

  • http://SayAnythingBlog.com The_Whistler_ofnd

You don’t think that Obama’s policy of drill nowhere, never hasn’t affected the price of gas?

    Who’s he working for anyway?

  • brain trust

I’m going to be like the Bush bashers – Obama is in bed with the oil companies! Prices under Bush went up with increased demand and decreased supply. Prices under Obama have gone up with excess supply. I’m sure he wants to see the increased prices so he can herd us into these little 4 cylinder, two person cars. Or maybe it will be easier for him to demonize the oil companies before a government take over.

Liberal’s Golden Rule – We must all suffer equally.

  • http://SayAnythingBlog.com The_Whistler_ofnd

It seems to me that the recession that help drive that drop in gas prices last year hasn’t ended this spring.

We’re facing a steep rise here.

  • http://SayAnythingBlog.com The_Whistler_ofnd

Plus $80 oil would be good for ND.

For the state government, not for most of the public.

I’d rather things work in an free and open market rather than having Obama do what the Saudi King wants him to do.

  • Headward

I’d rather things work in an free and open market rather than having Obama do what the Saudi King wants him to do.

Very true but atleast when the housing market was falling, ND still had growth because of the high cost of energy.

Those royalty checks and rig jobs bring a lot of wealth to ND. We just need some clear tax relief from the Feds and the State(property and sales).

Although I’m biased because I used to work the oilfield.

  • http://forums.kikizo.com/ Eddie_the_Hated

    Give me a break.

There’s things to rail on Obama for. Constantly fluctuating gas prices, and an overseas political gaffe mean shit.

  • robert108

    It’s summer

Which used to be the time for “gas wars” with all the competitors in the field, before Carter started letting the enviros call the tune.

  • Mark

I wouldn’t put much into this. Prices were much higher under Bush. Of course it was all his fault. I wonder who they will blame once gas really starts going up again.

    And it will.

Barri told everyone he was going to do this, why is anyone surprised. He proudly proclaimed that he would bankrupt the coal industry, force up the cost of gasoline, diesel, fuel oil, electricity, and natural gas. And now he is doing exactly what he promised, plus driving millions of Americans into unemployment.

Again, why is anyone surprised by any of this?

  • Mark

I’m sure you were first in line blaming
Bush for high gas prices last year.

The oil co’s will be blamed and threatened to be Nationalized.

Obama wants the price of gas to be higher because of global warming crap.

    The price is higher.

How do you not attribute that to his policy of Drill Nowhere, Drill Never policy?

…Because prices were high during the Bush era too.

Believe me, I don’t think the Obama administration’s energy policy will do anything good for energy prices in general as his administration wears on, but less than five months in office doesn’t add up to what we’ve all come to expect as a normal fluctuation in gas prices.

Last time I checked, Obama hasn’t yet passed any sort of sweeping petrochemical price-fixing legislature. A year and a half ago, if you’d complained about gas prices, who would you have complained about? Not the sitting president, but congress. Now, if you don’t like the way drill nowhere, drill never is going, write a senator, because they’ve got at least the same amount of blame to be shared, if not more.

If you mean it’s Obama’s fault, say Obama. If you mean liberals, say liberals, but words mean things.

  • FlyOnTheWall

Prices were about $1.50 a gallon when Bush entered office and about $1.50 a gallon when he left. I know this because of the bumper stickers haranguing Bush for the price of gas. Last I looked you could get those bumper stickers for cheap.

  • Headward

Who to blame for the high gas prices? I thought we’d still be on the “The past 8 years” thing still.

Plus $80 oil would be good for ND. We have to pay for all that spending.

  • http://SayAnythingBlog.com The_Whistler_ofnd

I’m not sure if he got the data from my link, but it’s the same graph.

Yeah, I think that people were buying up gas stocks using them as collateral and borrowing money to buy more. That accounts for the wild drop off.

That doesn’t mean the climb now isn’t because of Obama restricting supply.

  • robert108

Prices were also much lower under President Bush. Obama has reversed the trend to lower gas prices.

  • FlyOnTheWall

Hey Eddie and Whistler. The graph has a REALLY sharp dropoff, too sharp to be caused by recession. I’d guess the price was inflated artificially just because of the rate of drop.

Where’d you get the data Eddie?

The oil co’s will be blamed and threatened to be Nationalized.

True, even though what we’re talking about here isn’t a USA thing, but a worldwide supply and demand.

So it’s nothing to do with the US oil companies.

    Who’s Obama taking orders from?

  • http://SayAnythingBlog.com The_Whistler_ofnd

Obama let the world know that he opposes drilling for domestic oil.

  • http://SayAnythingBlog.com The_Whistler_ofnd

    Most excellent point Robert.

    The Whistler:

How do you not attribute that to his policy of Drill Nowhere, Drill Never policy?

The policy isn’t as relative as that it is HIS policy. ANY policy he comes up with, even if the force of reality makes its failure abundantly clear and the people are storming the gates, he will NEVER admit failure. No matter what he says, inside he will NEVER believe it failed and he will practice noncooperation down to the end. He and his will keep on whatever is they are doing whatever the cost.

You have to understand what drives the liberals psychologically or you have no hope of undoing them because they appeal the worst instincts in man and they’ve been selling their deceptions lies treachery and seduction for a very very long time.

  • http://suitepotato.blogspot.com/ sayanything-4808

Whistler, you are old enough to remember the Carter years and the even-odd gas rationing and the leftover 60s hippie reject types and their Mother Earth News make your own energy with an exercise bike generator bullshit.

He doesn’t take any orders from those OPECkers. We all know this is just another self-centered self-concerned egomaniac libtard. It doesn’t matter who is right or wrong, only who gets their way. Like a kid who throws a tantrum every time they lose at a board game no matter what you do to teach them patience and random chance and all, liberals just have to win. No one can tell them no ever.

Remember the hippie rejects and their wheat grass shakes and sandles and electric golf carts and solar cells the size of a basketball court that they couldn’t put on their roofs because their house would be crushed and how pedigreed do it for a living scientists told them it would not work and they just continued on as if their dreams were real and their fantasies true and like reality and science and facts just did not exist. Like crazy people do. The kind of crazy people who strap wings made of cardboard and scavenged pigeon feathers and Elmer’s Glue and jump from rooftops.

And it does not matter at all what the cost is. Housing projects full of dejected people who’ve given up and streets full of mentally deranged homeless who were deinstitutionalized to wander aimlessly should tell us that as if their Carter years willingness to bend over and part cheeks for Brezhnev’s nuclear missiles wasn’t enough.

They will reduce us to a third world country not because they want to although they certainly would hardly care as long as they maintain status as a first world class, protected and privileged above us peons, but because they outcome is not important. It doesn’t matter to them.

This is all about them getting their way. You can be as certain as the rising sun they will pick a theory and then stick with it and even if you put a gun to their head and they lie that they’re submitting to you, behind their eyes, they just aren’t. They literally cannot see the world any other way than whatever they pick. They are pathological on this and the sooner we understand that, the sooner we can fight them effectively because we’re having an utterly pointless argument against people who effectively don’t really have a position other than whatever they think, they must get their way.

  • http://sayanythingblog.com robport

Right. And the ramp-up in demand wouldn’t hit us so far if we had more supply.
