Gas Prices Are Going Up Because Oil Prices Have Gone Up
There are a lot of conspiracy theories about gas prices. Some say it’s profiteering by big oil. According to politicians like Nancy Pelosi, it’s those evil “speculators” driving up prices. But according to this chart, gas prices correlate to oil prices about as you’d expect (via Mark Perry):
If you make it more difficult, and more expensive, to produce oil then all of the products made from oil – including gasoline – are going to get more expensive as well. The Democrats can’t attack oil production in America and then blame gas prices on capitalists.
