Gallup: McCain Has A 3 Point Lead Over Obama

A three point lead that’s outside the margin of error for a poll with a huge sample size.  Which is made even better when you consider that half of the poll was conducted before McCain’s acceptance speech at the RNC convention.

McCain’s 48% share of the vote ties for his largest since Gallup tracking began in early March. He registered the same level of support in early May. This is also McCain’s largest advantage over Obama since early May, when he led by as much as six percentage points. Obama has led McCain for most of the campaign, and for nearly all of the time since clinching the Democratic nomination in early June.

Meanwhile the left/media’s attacks on Palin get sillier and sillier as it becomes more clear that the public, in general, doesn’t just like her.  They love her.

According to many leading conservatives, Obama still has the edge and it is his election to lose. If Palin and McCain do well, don’t lose, in their debates and these numbers hold up, we can have hope. Right now, it is still 50:50 with Obama having the emotional edge.

Please explain Neiman.  I sit in a must win state (PA) that very well could go McCain in Nov..  ??

I am just curious as to what you mean by Barry’s election to lose.

How does Galop conduct their polls?

I read an interesting article on phone polling.  Most phone polling is done via land lines.  A significant demographic has no land line only cellular and internet.  They don’t have hard data on which side of the aisle this group (estimated to be in the in the 10’s of millions) lands.

Frankly I don’t trust polls. I think demographically they are skewered more toward the blue states...and you definitely never know by what method they get their numbers.

It’s interesting to note that in 1980 the polls had Ronald Reagan tied with President Jimmy Carter. A July 22 Gallup poll had Reagan ahead by 2 points. But by late summer Gallup repeatedly reported a tight race.

Poll wise they missed it by a million miles with Reagan as he won a land-slide victory. I happened to stay up all night watching those numbers come in for him, enjoying the shock-waves hitting the MSM pundits and political analysts who had depended on the Polls for their predictions!

Personally, I think McCain/Palin are going to send shock-waves once again on November 4!

So do I Jazzy.  I think the nomination of Palin has thrown such a monkey wrench into the DNC AND the MSM that it will take years for them to regroup.

It is likely the election will be decided by people
who can’t make a choice between the candidates
till they get in the booth.

I really wonder how the vote is going to go down race wise.  I’ve seen numbers showing that blacks are going to vote for obama in the high 90 percentile.  Whites that say the’ll vote for him, then get to the voting booth and rethink things might be interesting.  I don’t really like who we have to vote this time either, “didn’t like the last election at all”, but I’m voting McCain!!

Among likely voters....

it’s McCain/Palin by 10 points!

Not this bad since Ducockus I don’t believe....

Even Mondale looked better at this point. Maybe Biden can explain it all to us in an hour or so.

You hit it on the head.
