From The Mouths Of Children: A Simple Explanation Of How Obama Was Elected

I have no way of verifying this, but I got it in my e-mail this morning and thought it worthy of passing on. It is, as the British would say (if they were talking to us right now, that is) spot on:

From a teacher in the Nashville area
“We are worried about “the cow” when it is all about the “Ice Cream”
The most eye-opening civics lesson I ever had was while teaching third grade this year.
The presidential election was heating up and some of the children showed an interest.
I decided we would have an election for a class president.
We would choose our nominees. They would make a campaign speech and the class would vote.
To simplify the process, candidates were nominated by other class members.
We discussed what kinds of characteristics these students should have.
We got many nominations and from those, Jamie and Olivia were picked to run for the top spot.
The class had done a great job in their selections. Both candidates were good kids..
I thought Jamie might have an advantage because he got lots of parental support. I had never seen Olivia’s mother.
The day arrived when they were to make their speeches.
Jamie went first.
He had specific ideas about how to make our class a better place. He ended by promising to do his very best. Everyone applauded and he sat down.
Now it was Olivia’s turn to speak. Her speech was concise. She said, “If you will vote for me, I will give you ice cream.”
She sat down.
The class went wild. “Yes! Yes! We want ice cream.” She surely would say more. She did not have to.
A discussion followed.. How did she plan to pay for the ice cream?
She wasn’t sure.
Would her parents buy it or would the class pay for it.
She didn’t know.
The class really didn’t care. All they were thinking about was ice cream.
Jamie was forgotten. Olivia won by a landslide.
Every time Barack Obama opened his mouth he offered ice cream and 52 percent of the people reacted like nine year olds.
They want ice cream.
The other 48 percent know they’re going to have to feed the cow and clean up the mess.”

An anecdote or a fable? Who knows? One thing is for sure – little Olivia has a bright future in the Democratic Party.

The 16th is certainly a problem, but no… the 17th was/is THE single most destructive amendment to the constitution. Think about it this way. The States used to have representation in the Federal Government giving incentive to uphold the tenth amendment. The Tenth amendment is the only amendment that gives power to the rest.
Now that the State’s don’t have any say in limiting the powers of the Fed for the States, nothing stops the Fed from pandering to the masses… which the Senate HAS to do in order to get re-elected.

Prior to the 17th, there was virtually ZERO chance at a life long Senator… theyd be lucky to serve three terms… now???

Our country is in deep do-do if 52 percent of the people are free-loaders.

It’s as simple as this exceptionally true quote:

A democracy can only exist until the voters discover they can vote themselves largesse from the public treasury. From that moment on, the majority always votes for the candidate promising the most benefits from the public treasury with the result that a democracy always collapses over a loose fiscal policy, always to be followed by dictatorship.

A chicken in every pot, and all that.

Bribery, at the very least common denominator.

    That post is supreme naivety.

    would not read again.

How’s that ice cream of early retirement at 50 and all the chocolate sauce of free health care and disability pay treating you, Pilgrim?

With Louisiana’s public pension plan only 64% funded, you can expect the taxpayers to be asked to pay up so you can sit around at 50 and post anti-government screeds on this blog!

What a deal! Maybe you can get the taxpayers to buy you a pony, too!

SuperToad… PRECISELY why the 17th Amendment was the single most destructive change to our Representative Republic.

Why does everyone call it a Democracy???

Don’t you mean the 16th? (re: Income Taxes)

  • sayanything-2819

Both the 16th and 17th Amendment have been more destructive to this country than any others.

    mmmmm, I Scream!

I think Dino wins this time, Pilgrim. The story is cute even if it is not real… but you can’t very well complain about ice cream incentives when you receive a daily sundae.

  • Pilgrim

Still at the personal attacks, eh Dino? Ah, well….par for the course I suppose.

SuperToad… PRECISELY why the 17th Amendment was the single most destructive change to our Representative Republic.

Absolutely. (Taken with the 16th, as stated above).

Why does everyone call it a Democracy???

Because if you spout any propaganda enough times, people start believing it. This is no different.

I thought this was going to be about Obamas spending taking food out of our children’s mouths. Which it does
