Friday Night Videos

Looks like Rob’s out creating more mischief tonight so I’ll go ahead and post a great song by my mostest favorite singer.  I happen to be Dean Martin’s youngest fan, which only means I’m not eligible for Social Security.

Ain’t That a Kick in the Head

Great singer, great comedian, passable actor, what a talent.  I miss you Dean.

Comments

Great singer, funny and fun to watch as an actor. Sad end to his life though, alone with a bottle and the pain of losing his son for quite some time. He had it all and in the end it didn’t satisfy him, life got him down for the count.

His music will live a long time, I enjoy his music.

Makes you long for the original Ocean’s Eleven!

Those who think the party or the country, will be “taught a lesson” by handing the levers of power over to the liberals will learn a lesson, but it will be at the expense of our country and her liberties. And there are no guarantees that the party or the country will come out stronger, more conservative or better positioned to win elections against the incumbent liberals.

Fantastic. I wonder what happened to really solid actors? What do we have today, Brad Pitt, Leo DiCaprio? It seems like all the real men, if you know what I mean, have left Tinseltown for good.

the pain of losing his son

I remember when it happened.  Dean Jr. died flying an Air National Guard jet...March 21, 1987

Most of those guys from the movies in the forties and fifties couldn’t get a leading role today. Not pretty enough!

Well, I’m a Dean Martin fan.  For a long time now.  And I’m younger than you, Whistler.  Mr. Fuddy Duddy.

The war against illegal plunder has been fought since the beginning of the world. But how is… legal plunder to be identified? Quite simply. See if the law takes from some persons what belongs to them, and gives it to other persons to whom it does not belong. See if the law benefits one citizen at the expense of another by doing what the citizen himself cannot do without committing a crime. Then abolish this law without delay … If such a law is not abolished immediately it will spread, multiply and develop into a system.

Rob’s always stealing my material.

I’ll bet that he doesn’t remember the Dean Martin TV show.

I used to love the Dean Martin show. That bit where he slid down the fireman’s pole in a tux with a martini in one hand and a cigarette in the other was priceless. Nobody could touch that today.

And as a sixteen year old I lusted mightily for the Golddiggers. Sigh.

Hey whistler pallie, thanks ever so much for the great Dinoslideshow.  Now, no disrespect meant, but our Dino is the greatest singer, greatest comedian, and the greatest actor this world has ever known....never was never will be anyone as cool as the King of Cool. And, BTW, I have met many, many of today’s youth who have caught Dinofever....desirin’ to live the Dinolife and walk the Dinoway.  Oh, to return to the days when Dino walked the earth!!!!

I was too young to “lust” but I liked what I saw.

One joke from the show that’s stuck with me for well over thirty years.

Close up of one of the cuter girls, “(Jenny) weighs 120 pounds with no clothes on.  The drug store says she can come in to weigh herself anytime.” I wasn’t sure why but that thought appealed to me.

That’s an interesting comment.  Dean was cool and it was cool to want to emulate him.  Think about the change of culture where if you emulate today’s singers you’ll never, ever get a job.

Hey pallie whistler, like who would be interested in emulatin’ one of today’s singers anyway.  That’s why so many of today’s youth are turnin’ to the ultimate in cool...Dino as there role model and mentor.

dino martin peters on May 26, 2007 at 06:57 am

Unfortunately too many of our youth are emulating the losers in popular culture today.

Hey pallie whistler, can’t argue with you ‘bout that....but much of the reason that the Dinoalbum went platinum is ‘cause many of the purchasers when today’s youth who have discovered the King of Cool and can’t get enough of him.  Dino once knocked the Beatles off the charts with “Everybody Loves Somebody Sometime.” Well even 12 years after his departure from this planet he is more popular then ever.

dino martin peters on May 26, 2007 at 07:14 am

so sorry, the Dinoalbum that I am referrin’ to of course in “DINO: The Essential Dean Martin.”

I’m sure that by the time they figure out which part of their baseball cap goes in the front, they’ll be all right!

Proof: Okay, now THAT baseball comment is funny! You didn’t have to stretch and strain for this one as you have on recent occasions.

Dean Martin, Frank Sinatra, Sammy Davis, and that whole crowd defined the very word, “cool”.

There just ain’t much cool out there these days.

And by thge way, Proof, the only peron who wore their hat backwards back then was the semi-retarded gas station attendent Goober Pyle on the Andy Griffith show. And I STILL think it looks stupid.

‘Fraid it was more of a stupid beanie than a ball cap. But, you’re right, the intelligence is about the same!
