Former Obama Staffer Busted for Stealing Iowa Secretary of State’s Identity

Image and video hosting by TinyPic

Some political tricks aren’t merely dirty, they’re filthy!

Barack Obama’s 2008 Iowa New Media Director was arrested Friday for attempting to use the identities of Secretary of State Matt Schultz, and/or his brother Thomas, with the intent to falsely implicate the Secretary Schultz in illegal or unethical behavior. Zach Edwards, 29, of Des Moines, currently works for Link Strategies, a Democrat-affiliated organization with ties to Iowa Senator Tom Harkin. Edwards is the Director of New Media for Link Strategies.

The Secretary of State’s office discovered the alleged crime and reported it to authorities. Edwards turned himself in to the Iowa DCI agents Friday afternoon. He was charged with identity theft, a misdemeanor, and booked into the Polk County jail. Edwards posted $2,000 bail and was released later on Friday. He faces up to two years in prison.

So, a former Obama staffer uses illegal or unethical behavior to try to smear a Republican with… charges of illegal or unethical behavior? Got it. Psychologists call that “Projection”.

Stay classy, liberals!

Fact is he wrote a check to IRS which “bounced”

        http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Newt_Gingrich

        • http://proof-proofpositive.blogspot.com/ Proof

You have your facts wrong again, ellinas. Perhaps difficulties with the English language? Where is the evidence that the check to the IRS “bounced”? The point was, that members of Congress could, in effect, write themselves interest free loans, as a perquisite of power.

The House honored the checks written against insufficient funds, therefore, it did not bounce.

Please feel free to come back when you fully understand the subject you’re addressing .

            House Revolutionary
            By Adam Clymer
            Published: August 23, 1992

…His own 22 overdrafts, including a $9,463 check to the Internal Revenue Service, were the heaviest weapons against him in an anti-incumbent campaign waged by an underfinanced former state senator.

            http://www.nytimes.com/1992/08/23/magazine/house-revolutionary.html?pagewanted=all&src=pm

          • ellinas1

I don’t have my facts wrong.
Newt wrote a check to the IRS to pay his tax liabilities, and the check bounced. He had no money to cover his tax liabilities.
When the shit hit the fan, Newtie started scheming, to divert attention, saying in effect: Mine is small (OK Newt, we know you have a small dick), But look at the democrats. Them emeffers are hung! Damn theirs is big!

          • http://proof-proofpositive.blogspot.com/ Proof

The link you provided says nothing about a check that “bounced”. Again. It might be your English…

          • ellinas1

This is what the link says: “The House banking scandal and Congressional Post Office scandal were emblems of the exposed corruption. Gingrich himself was among the 450 members of the House who had engaged in check kiting; he had overdrafts on twenty-two checks, including a $9,463 check to
the Internal Revenue Service in 1990.

            Continue defending the indefensible.
Keep trying to exonerate him on technicalities.

          • http://proof-proofpositive.blogspot.com/ Proof

No. I object to you using words you do not understand.  Yes, he had an overdraft. No, it did not “bounce”. A bounced check is one that is returned for insufficient funds. Part of the scandal of the House Bank was that no checks bounced. They were covered under an overdraft provision.

I forgive you since English is your second language. But, please try to pay better attention.

          • ellinas1

Under the cover of the House Bank……not the same as the average citizen’s overdraft.
It is an abuse of power.
            Still clinging on technicalities bro?

          • http://proof-proofpositive.blogspot.com/ Proof

BTW, as odious as the House Banking scandal was, it does not compare to this identity theft for the purpose of assassinating the Secretary of State’s character and political career.

Or is your bringing up the Pope and the House Bank your way of trying not to defend the indefensible?

          • ellinas1

Brotherman! Let us resolve the issue of bum checks first.

What did Newt do? Did he engage in “kiting”, did he bounce a check , or was he knowingly overdrawn on his checking account.

The actions of one criminal cannot add up to the systemic system wide corruption.

          • http://proof-proofpositive.blogspot.com/ Proof

I’ll take your obstinate refusal to stay on topic as a tacit admission that what the subject of this post did is indefensible.

          • ellinas1

You missed it brotherman. It was in an answer directed to you.
I said:”The actions of one criminal cannot add up to the systemic system wide corruption.”

I called him (Zach Edwards) a criminal.
            Damn bro! Whasup with dat?

If the check wasn’t covered, and if the tax wasn’t paid, there would have been a “TAX LIEN” Ask hanni, he can tell you all about the tax lien on his credit report.

          • ellinas1

No need to ask Hanni. Gingrich wrote the check to the IRS with the knowledge the US government would cover for him. And the US government did cover for him. The House Bank paid Newt’s obligation to the IRS
. A luxury not afforded to you hanni, proof or me.
            Tsk. Tsk.
Leave to a conservative to defend special privileges for the politicians.

          • Guest

Of course the government covered his check, and probably repaid through his income which the government controlled. No different than you taking an advance from your boss and him taking it out of your pat check at the end of the week.

          • ellinas1

Very different. First I Never had a boss like that. I f I did I would have to ask in writing.
My bank would never cover a check for almost $10,000 dollars.
As I said. An abuse of power by the elites, and a republican defending the privileges of his favored politicians.

          • Guest

Just because you didn’t have a boss like that means nothing. There’s all levels of over draft coverage. If your salary was high enough, $10K wouldn’t be an issue.

Guest must not have been born during the “House Bank” banking scandal uncovered by republicans including speaker Gingrich.
Are you excusing all those democrats and their special perks by saying they got an advance in their salary?
            Dully noted.

          • Guest

I didn’t say they got an advance. I said that if the salary was high enough $10K wouldn’t be an issue. We’re talking about over draft coverage.
And no, I don’t excuse the dems or the repubs. Maybe you can tell me why some of the politicans involved were charged and others weren’t.

          • ellinas1

            I don’t know.
            Do you?

And know we are clear that Newt, even though he was not charged he did not get an advance on his salary.

          • Guest

I never said he got an advance. Again,  I was talking about over draft coverage.

It’s obvious that the threat to obama is now Gingrich. The left is scared, and rightly so. Gingrich will continue to expose obama’s policies that are designed to kill the country. The country will vote the Marxist Muslim out of office.

I’m trying to figure out how this thread went from obama’s staffer committing identity theft, to Gingrich and then to your favorite past time of pedophilia. I know you’ll be disappointed when I say no, I don’t approve of pedophilia, and the church has been filthy for centuries.

“Thank you for condemning the pedophiles (after much probing from me)”

Probing? You only had ask me once
            .
“Had it been Geithner, I am sure you would be the fisrt one to cast a stone”.

Geitners’ intent was to evade. He didn’t pay his fair share until he was caught, and then tried to blame it on Turbo Tax.

          • ellinas1

            “Geitners’ intent was to evade.”

What was Newt;s intent when he signed his “book deal” with Murdock?
What was Newt’s intent with the now discredited “GOPack”?
And did’nt Newt use tax-exempt educational or charitable donations for partisan
purposes? It was  illegal, and several ethics complaints were filed against
Gingrich. He agreed to pay a $300,000 fine for misleading the committee
during the investigation, and in the process dodged conviction on the
actual charges through a combination of finessing some legal
definitions, sheer self-confidence and raw political power (as Speaker
of the House at the time of the complaints, he appointed the ethics
committee. Furthermore, GOPAC had one ethics committee member on its
roster last session, and gave money to another.)

I am going to stop with this tit for tat, for it is silly. The vast majority of politicians are liars and cheats. Period.

            What? you don’t know?
What a shame. I will tell you why.
When RBB writes about the corrupt and criminal behaviour of GOP members and operatives, he virtually gets no comment(s) condemning such behaviour.
He, instead is only questioned asked is if he ever wrote about democrat misbehaviour.
As I am writing this I see no conservative has condemned the behaviour of the Pope’s aides. To me that is tacit approval of pedophilia.

Also notice all the excuses being made for Newt. No condemnation.
That is also tacit approval of wrongdoing by members of the GOP.

          • http://proof-proofpositive.blogspot.com/ Proof

I see no mention of bestiality in your links. Following your “logic”, that is your tacit approval of it.  We could play this game all day, or you could try sticking to the topic at hand.

When RBB writes and gets virtually no comment, it’s because his cut and paste diatribes, coupled with his convoluted headlines and partisan blindness to any corruption in his own party, tend to turn his blog into an echo chamber for the unhinged left.

I comment on rbb’s contributions about as much as I comment at the Huffington Post, only I read more Huff Po than I read Nutterbob. It’s better written.

          • ellinas1

The same can be said about you:
When Proof writes and gets lots of comments, it’s because his  diatribes, coupled with his headlines and partisan
blindness to any corruption in his own party, tend to turn this blog into
an echo chamber for the hinged and unhinged right wing cons.

My post stands true and correct as written, you asertions and denials to the contrary not withstanding.

Piling up on a criminal like this, and having no comment for the misbehavin’ cons(ervatives) is  not a measure of level headedness.
Especially when the only question asked of RBB is “what about the democrats wrongdoing?”
It is in that context that I undertook this psychological exercise.
I never for a minute believed and or believe that you overtly, tacitly or in any way approve pedophilia.
I took false and stupid accusations that various cons(ervatives) make against the other side and used it to batter your walls.
To your credit you did not fall as easily as the other idiots did, but fail you did.
The foundation(s)  of your argument(s) is/are not built on solid and firm ground. They can only survive on  technicality. But an assailant need not have a keen eye to bring down your “virtual” castle.

Fox News fired Beck, even while calling it a mutual decision and promising collaboration on “a slate of projects for Fox News Channel and Fox News’ digital properties” that have yet to materialize.Kohn herself narrated a video making fun of Beck, insisting that he was spouting misinformation about fascism and communism being extreme left-wing ideas and implying that he was the real fascist. She said that liberals like President Obama and herself favor “democratic capitalism,” not any kind of state control of the economy. The reality, however, is quite different.“Sally Kohn makes the world safe for radical ideas,” her website says. In fact, Kohn is a far-left radical who attended the 2003 World Social Forum in Brazil, a meeting place for groups which say they are opposed to capitalism and U.S. imperialism. The 2011-2012 “Calendar of Struggles” for the World Social Forum includes:Global week of actions in support to the freedom of the Gaza Flotilla II.
International Conference on the impact of the North American invasion in Iraq.
International Solidarity Day for the Palestinian and African peoples. Not only is Kohn now on Fox News, where she can demonstrate the channel’s “fair and balanced” commitment by championing radical Arab and pro-Marxist causes, she is being given open access to the influential FoxNews.com website, where she writes articles praising the Occupy Wall Street movement. The Kohn bio at the end of her Fox News columns says she is the founder and Chief Education Officer of the Movement Vision Lab, “a grassroots think tank,” but clicking on the organization’s website takes you to Kohn’s personal page. It appears that the Movement Vision Lab was a project  of the Center for Community Change that has since been discontinued.[…] Both Kohn and Rashad Robinson, executive director of a group called Color of Change, have attended the Soros-funded event known as the “Creative Change Retreat,” described as a place where “arts and social justice” come together.Color of Change was co-founded by Van Jones, the former Obama official who lost his job after Beck, then on Fox News, highlighted his radical communist connections by drawing on material from anti-communist blogger Trevor Loudon and others.Jones had the last laugh, noting during an appearance at the Campaign for America’s Future conference that Beck had lost his job at Fox.Soros’s Open Society Institute had provided $300,000 to Color of Change and its parent entity called the Citizen Engagement Laboratory. Executive director Robinson had previously worked as Senior Director of Media Programs for GLAAD, where he apparently learned the techniques of protesting the presence of conservative voices in the media.

      Who you gonna call?
      Steve Doocy, or Sally Kohn?

The news have no color, nor do they lean left or right.
      Politics is another story.

    • Roy_Bean

Fox reports, you decide.  When you only communicate with like minded people it’s easy to forget that nut cases like her are out there.  Listening to her convoluted logic should help people realize how important it is to vote this fall.  It’s kinda like on this topic where Rob posted something about an Obama aide and next thing you know it’s all about the Pope.

    • A Citizen

“Sorros has his foot in the door at Fox now…:”

I think it’s the other way around. I think Fox now has an inside track into Soros…IMO

      • two_amber_lamps

With leftist ideologues like Kohn?  I realize they’re trying to keep a more balanced “cabinet” than MSLSD, Commie news network, etc…  but I don’t see how this acquisition fosters that persona.  She’s crazier than Maddcow…

          “She’s crazier than Maddcow.:

Exactly! And like most on the left, will enjoy spouting off and letting things slip out like Obama does without a teleprompter. IMO, there will be more going on behind the scenes than what we see in front of the camera.

  • Sky Rider

Hey, Maybe he stole the identity for Obama!!! He has no REAL birth certificate, no REAL birth place, no REAL school records, no REAL SS#, no REAL work history, no REAL classmates, no REAL morals-ethics-standards, no REAL history, and no REAL ideas.

       Welcome home birther.

I realize in your dull tongue you resort to only the most bland insult that’s been drummed into your head by your leftist handlers.  If only you could see beyond the utopian realms of prog-socialism, but I suppose this is what you were weaned upon.

Tis a pity, we all had high hopes for you Special El….

Draw the line anywhere you like… I guess you don’t remember your own comment about screwing my mom, but hey, whatever fantasy floats around in your head?  I could care less.  But never fear, I’ll be happy to rub your face in it…  just don’t cry when someone lowers the boom on yourself.

This is what you and I learned today:
          1) you thought my first language is Spanish.
I told you I come from the land of Zeus.

          2) You expressed your desire to have me go away, because……
I showed you that I am a threat to your feeble ideology.

          3) You are threatened by the cordial behaviour of others…..
So you took it upon your self to undo the good will that exists between the good people that debate here.

Guest now says: I never said he got an advance. Again,  I was talking about over draft coverage.

Lets see what he really said:

    Guest:
“If the check wasn’t covered, and if the tax wasn’t paid, there
would have been a “TAX LIEN” Ask hanni, he can tell you all about the
tax lien on his credit report.”
Ellinas1:”No need to ask Hanni. Gingrich wrote the check to the IRS with the
knowledge the US government would cover for him. And the US government
did cover for him. The House Bank paid Newt’s obligation to the IRS. A luxury not afforded to you hanni, proof or me.Tsk. Tsk.Leave to a conservative to defend special privileges for the politicians.”
Guest: Of course the government covered his check, and probably repaid
through his income which the government controlled. No different than
you taking an advance from your boss and him taking it out of your pat
check at the end of the week.

ellinas1:Very different. First I Never had a boss like that. I f I did I would have to ask in writing. My bank would never cover a check for almost $10,000 dollars. As I said. An abuse of power by the elites, and a republican defending the privileges of his favored politicians.

    [………]

Guest: I didn’t say they got an advance. I said that if the salary was
high enough $10K wouldn’t be an issue. We’re talking about over draft
    coverage.

    Go play with someone else.

    • Guest

You took a hypothetical situation and spun it. Show me where Gingrich didn’t pay his taxes. Show me where he didn’t eventually cover the check. Try not to throw up on your shoes from all the spinning.

      • ellinas1

Did I say he did not pay taxes?

I said Gingrich engaged in check kiting.  Gingrich wrote a bogus check to the IRS.
        ellinas1 January22, 2012.

        Gingrich
himself was among the 450 members of the House who had engaged in check
kiting; he had overdrafts on twenty-two checks, including a $9,463
check to the Internal Revenue Service in 1990

I was mainly speaking to his hypocrisy because he was instrumental in all this.
He accused others, but he engaged in the same behaviour.

        • Guest

“Gingrich wrote a bogus check to the IRS”

Since the check was eventually honored and cashed, and his taxes were paid, it wasn’t bogus.
Agreed there were over drafts that also were eventually covered and paid.
If you or I have over draft protection on our checking accounts, and we use it, what happens?

          • ellinas1

Write a check to the IRS for $10,000 thousand dollars without having the money in your bank, and then let us discuss the issue.
I do get your narrow point. I got it from the beginning.
If that’s all he did, since his check was eventually honored and cashed, then all the Democrats that engaged in similar behaviour…..no big deal.

            But then you screech:
            Guest:
Lots of  crooked dem/libs, but I don’t see Newt’s name

“The House banking scandal ultimately involved more than 450 representatives, most of whom did not break any laws. Twenty-two congressmen and -women were singled out by the House Ethics Committee for leaving their checking accounts overdrawn for at least eight months out of a sample of 39 months.”
“The following 22 House members were singled out by the House Ethics.”

And back to your point. You say: “Agreed there were over drafts that also were eventually covered and paid.”

Why is it then you are only screaming about dems/libs?
Their overdrafts/bogus checks were eventually paid.

          • Guest

“Write a check to the IRS for $10,000 thousand dollars without having the money in your bank,”

If I’ve got enough over draft coverage, it’s not an issue.

And there were lots of dems/libs involved, more than repubs.

            Again, goodnight.

          • ellinas1

             Good night.
            You are a good debater.
I tried time and again to corner you, but you slipped away like an eel.

          • Guest

It’s not that I’m slippery, the facts of that check fiasco are what they are. As you stated before, they are ALL dirty in one way or another.

          • ellinas1

They (the politicians) are dirty in one way or another,
What is amazes me is the zeal with which we defend what we consider “our side”.

          • Guest

“Why is it then you are only screaming about dems/libs?”

Why is it you’re only screeching about Newt?
..I don’t see the hypocrisy since he threw HIMSELF under the bus.

          • ellinas1

Why is it you’re only screeching about Newt?

Not for the same reason you are screeching about the dems/libs
I screech to show that corruption is not restricted to one party, you though being a slippery eel (read: good debater) avoided being cornered.

  • ellinas1

    • Roy_Bean

      I think it’s the Pope’s fault.

      • ellinas1

         I think you are correct.

  • Guest

Hmmm…I don’t see the hypocrisy since he threw HIMSELF under the bus.

“In the early days of the scandal, when the media began reporting on the loose practices, Republican Minority Whip Newt Gingrich, along with 7 freshman Republicans referred to as the Gang of Seven
or “The Young Turks”, made the strategic decision to publicize the
scandal in an attempt to sweep congressmen with overdrawn accounts, most
of them Democrats, out of power; Gingrich himself had 22 kited checks,
one a $9,463 check to the Internal Revenue Service.[4]
Gingrich realized that far more Democrats could be implicated in this
scandal than Republicans, so he made the decision to make the identities
of all of those involved public and “let the chips fall where they
    may”. Jim Nussle,
one of the Gang of Seven, came to national attention when he made a
speech from the well of the House while wearing a paper bag over his
head to protest the “shameful” ethical behavior involved in the scandal.

Gingrich pressured the then Speaker of the House Tom Foley
to ensure that the special counsel appointed to investigate the matter
informed the voting public of the overdrafts and the identities of all
    of the Congressmen responsible”

       Good night.
There is no end to this.
They are all hypocrites and liars.

      • Guest

I absolutely agree, which is why we need to have a President who’s agenda is not to destroy the country or lead it down the same path as Greece, Spain or other countries who’s policies are taking them down the toilet. Those socialistic policies didn’t work there, they won’t work here.

        • ellinas1

Please name the socialistic policies that didn’t work “there”

You see I lived “there” and I frequently visit Greece (more then once or twice a year).

Greece’s problem is for example, they sell tomatoes and buy Mercedes-Benz. No can do. You have to constantly borrow to pay for the price difference. They have no heavy industry or meaningful exports that would lead to enrich the country. The balance of trade has  always been negative.

It also does not help that whatever industry exists is foreign owned and  a large chunk of the profits leave the country to enrich others, or the bribing of government officials to buy unneeded military hardware.
          Example: In 2011
two former managers of Ferrostaal AG, a German-based industrial
services company, have been convicted of paying bribes for contracts in
Greece and Portugal and received suspended prison terms of two years.

Greeks are notorious for not paying taxes. It is largely a “cash and carry” country: “You got a lamb, I pay you cash and I carry it home” type of transactions.

  • Thresherman

So we have an individual who was engaged in identity theft of a Iowa SOS and the best that the libtards can come up with is, “Why that is almost exactly like the Pope and child abuse.”

Now I know that liberals are big into moral equivelancy, where no matter how heinous the act they commit, if someone somewhere else did something bad, why then that excuses what they did.  If that really was true, then Ted Kennedy and Chappaquiddick would have excused Watergate.  Of course we all know that didn’t happen because the whole idea is stupid, but liberals have never let wisdom get in the way shifting blame

    • Roy_Bean

Liberals may not be wise but they are clever.  This started out as a discussion about a slime ball with ties to Obama and the democrats trying to impersonate the SoS so they could then accuse the SoS of unethical behavior.  Kind of like when Gloria Allred crawls out from under her rock to accuse Herman Cain.  The liberals steered the discussion to Gingrich bounced a check, some Catholic priests molested kids, and someone insulted ellinas1’s mom.  This whole thing is a George Soros technique.  When your mom slaps your fingers because you had your hand in the cookie jar, scream child abuse.  When the war on terror is going too good, photoshop a picture of some Marines pissing on some dead enemies.  When you want to take away the freedom from the masses, have some of your buddies “occupy” the place and run amuck until the masses ask the government to step in.  It’s a pattern and people don’t seem to see it.

  • mickey_moussaoui

Good thing for him that he is a liberal. The ass busting he gets in prison wont cause him any alarm.
