Yeah I always figured if lefties ever managed to pass hate speech laws they’d start pressing for banning “not nice” speech, then “slightly mean spirited” speech, and finally “words that have negative connotation” speech.

Orwell zeroed in how the Left likes to control the language as a way of ultimately controlling thoughts. Hence NewSpeak, which was English, dressed down in Maoist union suits with all shades of meaning replaced by Good, Plusgood and DoublePlusGood.

Leftist PC speech was nicely lampooned by Stallone in the 1993 Demolition Man and goofed on by the character played by Denis Leary.

banning terms is something the Left does routinely to itself. At one time, during the Sufferagist period, they were ‘moderns‘, or Progressives (it’s purely coincidental that Progress happens to be a favorite buzzword in the Soviet lexicon, as is Vanguard).

Communism never really caught on with Mainstream Americans, indeed made a semi-bad name for itself during that period between the 1930′s to the 1950′s, but since that time, a fawning domestic media have white-washed its history. As a result, it doesn’t have nearly the bad connotation it ought to have.

Instead, communists blended in with and took over the Democratic party, culminating with the radical Left’s seizing the reigns of power during the 1968 Chicago convention.

So, they adopted a new moniker — Liberal.

That started to be associated with New Age Sensitive guys, Jimma Carter, smelly Berkeley women who didn’t shave and preferred other women, so it was quietly shifted to Progressive.

After the Democrats lost Congress in the wake of the Assault Weapons Ban, it changed yet again to Moderate. Anyone not-Left became extremist.

Labelling is very important to the Left. They use to frame their enemies in a bad light and to confuse.

One of the biggest confusion measures they have succeeded with is to call Conservative America RED. The Left have always been Red(s), so this rankles me to no end.

Anyways, while I agree with you, the bottom line is, they’d come up with some other camouflage phrase to describe themselves.

Good point. I noticed that the ACLU isn’t jumping up and down about the proposal to ban the ‘n’ word in New York either, a VERY clear violation of free speech. I may offend but to outlaw words is a very dangerous precedent.

Selective outrage is a trademark of the left.

i knew Dave Dellinger personally until he died and i know he’s not a commie. a big time socialist for sure, but not a commie. he really was a kind and smart guy.

actually the progressive party came out of vermont. a bunch of hippies came up with it in the 70s. its a viable party there too. there are regularly progressive ‘spoiler’ candidates.
