One of the SeaBees I corresponde with was involved getting this started, though the Marsh Arabs were blowing holes in the dikes before anyone knew what was going on. The Brits in that area thought they were Fedayeen. Marsh Arabs never got along with the Baathist regimes. Then again, they never really got along with anyone from the dryland tribes. Though they did appear to like the French 100 odd years ago. Don’t know why.

The French are likeable.  They don’t dress up like Arabs with explosives in their trunks and get arrested by the Iraqi police and then have their own gov’t rescue them from responsibility.

What are almost 200,000 fat Europeans/Americans doing mucking around in their marshes anyway?

Get home, you idiots and leave them alone.

No respect.

See, Gene, she has no fucking idea what we are talking about. Her hero Saddam drained the marshes and she swooned.

Too bad the Idiot Savant Tourette’s Boy had to pipe up yet again and show his lack of a brain:

Irreplaceable historical sites and religious artefacts are being destroyed by the US-led occupation forces, says Iraq’s interim culture minister.

Sites including Babylon, one of the world’s most renowned archaeological treasures, are being damaged by the occupation forces, according to minister Mufid al-Jazairi.

The minister also said on Sunday the US-led forces needed to leave the area as soon as possible to avoid further destruction.

Heavy equipment, helicopters and other machinery used by Polish-led forces based at Babylon, 100km south of Baghdad, are causing irreparable harm, he said.

That is right. America went into the Tigris-Euphrates marsh region in 1981,rounded up thousands of Marsh Arabs, force marched them into the desert mountains of northwest Iraq, and drained the marshes. Yea, that was when G Bush was the Shadow Emperor of the Multi-verse. I had forgot about that.

I wouldn’t be surprised if you forgot your own mother’s name, Boy.

But your tongue-in-cheek weak attempt at sarcasm doesn’t erase the facts that we have made a mess of Iraq.

Now go report to the desk.  You may be fired.

No, the Baathists made it a mess. We just stepped into it after the fact. How many cultural sites did they destroy over a 50 year period. And as for the"looted" museum artifacts, the ones placed in the 3rd level sub-basement which was subsequently flooded with raw sewage before the Coalition began operations. Did Bushitler do that too?

What tribal Arab wouldn’t kill any other tribal arab (yes i know it’s redundant) up to and including diane’s pantywaist friends and her sacred relics for the sake of a dozen camels?

No self-respecting tribal arab wouldn’t, that’s who.

We’ve got a long long way to go here fellas.  Don’t listen to the tribalists.

Or, as T.E.Lawrence so wisely noticed, the only way to unite the Arab tribes is to whip them into a frenzy over a common enemy.

That would be us—America, in Diane’s eyes.

diane spews, The U.S. has ruined many Iraqi ancient relics.
No respect.

The U.S. also ruined many German ancient relics in WW2. We should have just left them alone. Right? That is in line with your blame America first attitude.

Now I leave you to your petty namecalling and condescending demeanor.

If a clusterfuck is what it takes to liberate several million people in strike a blow for freedom and liberty in a region famous for oppression....then a clusterfucking we will go.

The war against illegal plunder has been fought since the beginning of the world. But how is… legal plunder to be identified? Quite simply. See if the law takes from some persons what belongs to them, and gives it to other persons to whom it does not belong. See if the law benefits one citizen at the expense of another by doing what the citizen himself cannot do without committing a crime. Then abolish this law without delay … If such a law is not abolished immediately it will spread, multiply and develop into a system.

You’ll be first in line, Dhimi, Wahabist deathworshippers always kill their collaborators in the openning salvo. Stops you from stabbing them in the back, like you already did America. They know you are cowardly, venal, and untrustworthy.
