Feminist Professor Suing Because Her Students Didn’t Sit for Her BS Classes

What a ditz.

Ms. Venkatesan’s scholarly specialty is “science studies,” which, as she wrote in a journal article last year, “teaches that scientific knowledge has suspect access to truth.” She continues: “Scientific facts do not correspond to a natural reality but conform to a social construct.”

After a winter of discontent, the snapping point came while Ms. Venkatesan was lecturing on “ecofeminism,” which holds, in part, that scientific advancements benefit the patriarchy but leave women out. One student took issue, and reasonably so – actually, empirically so. But “these weren’t thoughtful statements,” Ms. Venkatesan protests. “They were irrational.” The class thought otherwise. Following what she calls the student’s “diatribe,” several of his classmates applauded.

Ms. Venkatesan informed her pupils that their behavior was “fascist demagoguery.” Then, after consulting a physician about “intellectual distress,” she cancelled classes for a week. Thus the pending litigation....

As I said, what a ditz.  She doesn’t teach she bullies and when someone stands up for what’s right rather than defend her position she quits and sues the students.  People like this are unfitted to be in education business or pretty much any business I could think of.

What, she packed up and left like Rosie did when finally confronted by a logical woman on “the view”?

The students need to file a counterclaim for professorial malpractice, it seems.

Ken,

An interesting idea, indeed!  One such successful case as precedent, and you could put the entire NEA out of business in less than a decade!

I can think of a few grade school teachers who could have been found liable for that.

She’s partially right about the “social construct” aspect, but completely wrong about the “ecofeminism” crap.

If you don’t know by now, don’t mess with it.

You do have a whopping 600 words upon which to base your views of her entire career; I can understand how you can reach that assumption.

Jack.

Ass.

Her entire career? Where did you read that?

I can understand how you can reach that assumption.

Jack.

Ass.

Don’t be a douchebag, todd. Here, read the e-mails she had sent out. There are now well more than 600 words.

likwidshoe on May 20, 2008 at 08:49 am

And todd? The assumption was all yours.

You do have a whopping 600 words upon which to base your views of her entire career; I can understand how you can reach that assumption.

I was the one who sent The Whistler and Pilgrim this story. There was more than one link provided, and thus well more than 600 words, of which you assumed The Whistler had based his entire understanding.

Now you’re the jackass. And quite rightly so.

Todd,

I don’t suppose you have anything to offer that might support a kinder, gentler assessment of her career?

Nah!  Didn’t think so!

Just another liberal whiner.  [You’re mean to me so you can’t play in my sandbox.] Do those people ever go up?

“ecofeminism,”

What the hell is that?

Are institutions actually paying public and private money to have students endure such crap?

I guess if you consider her wisdom and elevated teachings a continuation of what was taught in the public school system; it makes sense.

“ecofeminism,”

That also may be a start to a movement to protect those pesky little beavers.

Some trumped up, made-up idea to keep a woman at a job that no one else would “qualify” for.  This is not education, but an attempt at indoctrination.  I am glad to see finally this garbage confronted.  Same for homosexuality.

She’s suing students for walking out of her class. Not only is that asshattery, but it is definately bullying. “Stay still and let me lecture you or I will sue you.”

I don’t need anything else todd. Nor does anyone else.

Be stupid in silence.
