Feinstein Talks Sense About Islam And Terrorism

Share |

Its not often I agree with Senator Feinstein, but she hits the nail on the head with this:

WASHINGTON (AFP) – A top US Senator urged Muslim leaders across the world to issue a slew of religious edicts denouncing terrorism and warned that mosques in “many places” are enabling terrorists.
Senator Dianne Feinstein spoke in the wake of Saturday’s bombings in the Egyptian Red Sea resort of Sharm el-Sheikh, where 88 people were killed, and the July 7 attacks in London, where 52 people and four suicide bombers died. A new attack in London failed Thursday.
“I think until the mosques in the Muslim world and the imams in the Muslim world in a major way issue fatwa after fatwa denouncing jihad and denouncing terror that we’re not going make any progress,” the California Democrat told CNN.
“I don’t see many, if any, major imams throughout all of the Muslim countries coming together and saying: Enough of this. Stop. This is not Islam. You know, we object to it,” she said.
“Until there is something like an excommunication that would take place in the Catholic Church where, if you are going to engage in this thing, do not frequent our mosques, you don’t see this,” Feinstein said.
She added: “What you see in many places is that the mosque becomes an enabler one way or another.”

Exactly.
The only way we’re going to defeat Islamic terror is to convince the most devout followers of that faith that terrorism and extremism are not acceptable practices. Now if we could only convince Senator Feinstein that bringing western-style liberty and democracy to Iraq will go a long way toward bringing about that kind of shift in middle eastern culture we’d really be getting somewhere.

Actually, state-by-state isn’t very precise. We should split the reds and blues by COUNTY.

    That way,

We get all the FOOD. You get all the smog.

Sounds like someone sat the woman down and had a”come to Jesus” with her. I damn sure don’t buy that this is anything she actually beleives, just another manipulation of the voters. She has in the past, both recent and distant, opposed every single effort to combat ANY terrorists. Just more same old same.

    holier than thou…
…amidst all the islamic/muslim bashing that’s all the rage right now, people seem to forget that they’re talking about roughly a billion people. But noooo, people of the US are too smart to let their understanding of human relations be swayed to the point of generalizing a whole nation of people…

Dunno exactly what your point here might be, but I’ll highlight that it is Muslims who are killing people via homicide-bombing in the name of their religion. I’m quite aware that there are many Muslims in the world, and think that we’ve been quite careful thus far to diffentiate between a War on Terror and a War on Islam.

It is interesting that an “understanding of human relations” does not seem to apply to the Islam-o-facists.

Marty asked, …what’s a government official doing pressuring mosques about anything? Not that she isn’t right on the money…

When the mosque ceases to simply be a place of worship and instead becomes a place of war planning.

In her defense, Feinstein IS the saner of the liberal Senators from California… Boxer is the real nut over here….. and yet she still garners 60% or so of the vote on election day… ::sigh::

    Hmmm…

“Until there is something like an excommunication that would take place in the Catholic Church where, if you are going to engage in this thing, do not frequent our mosques, you don’t see this,” Feinstein said.

I wonder if she feels the same way about catholic preists denying communion to pro-abortion politicians? Nah, i bet she denounces that sort of thing as a clear violation of the principle of separation between church and state…

Offtopic, i know — save your flames. Still, ya gotta wonder about the hypocrisy… what’s a government official doing pressuring mosques about anything? Not that she isn’t right on the money…

uhh…what in tar nation does that mean? really…I can’t figure it out. Like, hoodrats planning their next jackin’ at the circle k?

Yes! If, by “hoodrats” you mean Islamic extremists, and by “jackin” you mean planting explosive devices, and by “at the circle k” you mean at a subway station…

Am I the only one who noticed this?…
“…where 52 people and four suicide bombers died…..”

Suicide bombers are now apparantly something-other-than-people.

    Perhaps we are making progress.

The Muslim American Society had a press conference this morning (covered by C-SPAN) on their new proactive efforts to combat islamofacist terrorism.

Hopefully, C-SPAN will re-air it (I was looking for a video archive link on their site but couldn’t find one). The speakers sounded sincere, even to this self-described skeptic. The main message I heard was that condemnation was not enough; proactive action is now called for. From their press release:

“…Given the intricacies of such phenomena, MAS Freedom believes that strengthening intelligence and security measures, while vital and crucial, will not solve the problem, especially since we are dealing with groups and individuals who are religiously misguided, erroneous, and socio-politically desperate.

Thus we are committed to the intensification of our effort to proactively combat terrorism.”

Journey of a thousand miles starts with one step.

Not sure where that blue”state” list came from. In reality what you will end up with is a group of broken cities who are unable to feed themselves. Go for it anyway! It will be loads funnier than Al Franken. And yes. I have the map right here, only 3 blue states, all the rest of America is Red, like my neck and the circle around those 16 bullseyes I just shot with my Garand. You have a good evening now, richie.

  13. Marty on July 25th, 2005 at 4:07 am

Heheh thats FUNNY! but you left one off:

We (red states) get all the pretty girls. You get all the queers.

Off topic I know and it will make most of you shit yourself but I got this today and found it humorous….Enjoy.

    Subject: Blue States Secede

    Blue States Secede

    Dear Red States:

We’re ticked off at the way you’ve treated California, and we’ve decided we’re leaving. We intend to form our own country, and we’re taking the other Blue States with us.

In case you aren’t aware, that includes Hawaii, Oregon, Washington, Minnesota, Wisconsin, Michigan, Illinois and the entire Northeast. We believe this split will be beneficial to the nation, and especially to the people of the new country of “Blumerica”.

    To sum up briefly:

You get Texas, Oklahoma and all the slave states.

We get stem cell research and the best beaches.

We get Elliot Spitzer. You get Ken Lay.

We get the Statue of Liberty. You get OpryLand.

We get Intel and Microsoft. You get WorldCom.

We get Harvard. You get Ole’ Miss.

We get 85 percent of America’s venture capital and entrepreneurs. You get Alabama.

We get two-thirds of the tax revenue, you get to make the red states pay their fair share.

Since our aggregate divorce rate is 22 percent lower than the Christian Coalition’s, we get a bunch of happy families. You get a bunch of narrow-minded, single moms.

Please be aware that Blumerica will be pro-choice and anti-war, and we’re going to want all our citizens back from Iraq AT ONCE! If you need people to fight YOUR war, ask your evangelicals. They have kids they’re apparently willing to send to their deaths for no purpose, and they don’t care if you don’t show pictures of their children’s caskets coming home.

We do wish you success in Iraq, and hope that the WMDs turn up, but we’re not any longer willing to spend our resources in Bush’s Quagmire.

With the Blue States in hand, we will have firm control of

80 percent of the country’s fresh water,

More than 90 percent of the pineapple and lettuce,

92 percent of the nation’s fresh fruit,

95 percent of America’s quality wines, (you can serve French wines at state dinners),

    90 percent of all cheese,

90 percent of the high tech industry,

Most of the U.S. low-sulfur coal,

All living redwoods, sequoias and condors,

All the Ivy and Seven Sister schools, plus Stanford, Cal Tech and MIT.

With the Red States, on the other hand, you will have to cope with

88 percent of all obese Americans, and their projected health care costs),

92 percent of all U.S. mosquitoes,

Nearly 100 percent of the tornadoes,

    90 percent of the hurricanes,

99 percent of all Southern Baptists,

Virtually 100 percent of all televangelists,

    Rush Limbaugh,

    Bob Jones University,

Clemson and the University of Georgia.

We get Hollywood and Yosemite, thank you.

    Additionally,

62 percent of you believe life is sacred unless we’re discussing the death penalty or gun laws,

44 percent say that evolution is only a theory,

53 percent that Saddam was involved in 9/11 and

61 percent of you crazy bastards believe you are people with higher morals then we lefties.

    Sincerely,

    Author Unknown in California.
