Feds Sting Amish Farmer Selling Raw Milk Locally

Intimidate voters with threats of violence in front of a polling place and the Feds send you on your merry way! Sell raw milk to people who want it? The Feds will hunt you down!

A yearlong sting operation, including aliases, a 5 a.m. surprise inspection and surreptitious purchases from an Amish farm in Pennsylvania, culminated in the federal government announcing this week that it has gone to court to stop Rainbow Acres Farm from selling its contraband to willing customers in the Washington area.

The product in question: unpasteurized milk.

It’s a battle that’s been going on behind the scenes for years, with natural foods advocates arguing that raw milk, as it’s also known, is healthier than the pasteurized product, while the Food and Drug Administration says raw milk can carry harmful bacteria such as salmonella, E. coli and listeria.

“It is the FDA’s position that raw milk should never be consumed,”

So, the government decides that a product consumed for thousands of years isn’t healthy enough for you, but it’s okay to sell tobacco? Anyone ever hear of “secondhand milk” killing anyone? I guess they could put a warning label on it, but sending the police and US marshalls and state troopers out to bust your milk operation?

Smaller government, anyone??

Read the whole thing.

They are right, despite all our economic woes, a nearly bankrupt America and several wars going on, I agree that these damnable, organized crime Amish that are selling raw milk, deserve every dollar and hour that is needed to stamp them out, it should be our highest high priority, he said sarcastically!

Good thing you added the “he said sarcastically” or the lib trolls would be ranting until Doomsday.

Oops! Sorry Neiman. That is my milk mustache. That is from raw wholesome milk. Not the defatted junk they sell in the supermarkets.
I used to drink it morning and evening when I was growing up.

Actually, so did I, on a little dairy (40 cows) and alfalfa farm in Meridian Idaho!

It had a different taste. Nothing but goodness.
My mom used to make raw milk cheese, and fresh cream butter. Mmmmm!

So, do you think this is something the government needs to “protect” us from?

Can’t you tell from my exchange with Neiman, that I support wholesome foods?
Not the government’s business what kind of milk I drink/eat.

Funny how liberals like ellinas have such double standards when it comes to big government. They want their preferences and values imposed on everyone else…up until it’s something they specifically like.

Then suddenly they sing a different tune.

          • Anonymous

What is funny, is your perception of liberals.
My tune has been consistent. Yours has not.

          • http://sayanythingblog.com Rob

How have I been inconsistent, I wonder?

You say that “liberals like ellinas………..want their preferences and values imposed on everyone else..”

Yet it is you through your blog, that advocates and wants your preferences and values imposed on everyone else…..through government mandate.

You have a good night, you hear?

PS: Your perception of this liberal is comical. You know not what you are talking about.

This is happening all over the nation. Not just the Amish…any small dairy farmer. And not just milk, raw foods of all kinds. Like the deadly ALMOND! Soon, they will come for those of us who DARE to keep a goat or two, or a cow or two, for the sole reason of having a bit of raw milk to keep our families healthy.

  • http://sayanythingblog.com Rob

The feds have been fighting this war on milk for some time now. I wonder how the Amish ever managed to survive before they had the federal government around to regulate their milk for them.

Anyway, in a lawsuit filed by the federal government on the issue, they actually argued that Americans “do not have a fundamental right to obtain any food they wish.”

And here you thought this was a free country.

  • http://flamemeister.com flamemeister

The list of perfectly good foods that have been “outlawed”—not allowed into the country or to be produced for sale—is quite long, and quite insane.

  • ec99

Interesting. They arrest them for raw milk but let them still run their puppy mills.

Processed milk is bad for you . to many antibodies in them . it taste terrible. I limit it to to 2 cups a week.

  • 2hotel9

This is just a start. Here in PA we have jackholes in the government who are trying to make it a crime to sell eggs and vegetables unless you are a major grocery store. No more roadside stands or eggs from your chickens without first being licensed and inspected by “the state”. And all this without a single documented instance of anyone getting food poisoning from fresh eggs or vegetables.

The Amish are lucky. They don’t feel the Obama Misery Index like the rest of us.

    • http://proof-proofpositive.blogspot.com/ Proof

Maybe not as badly, but many Amish are employed outside their community, and for those who aren’t, thinking of furniture makers in particular, sales will be depressed as more money chases fuel and food.
