Fat Joke Stripped Out Of Syndicated Forum Editorial
11:51am
Yesterday I wrote about Fargo Forum editorial writer Jack Zaleski cracking a fat joke at my expense because they didn’t like what I reported about the Heitkamp campaign’s familial ties to the YWCA after the latter group attacked an ad by Heitkamp’s supporter Rick Berg.
For all the lecturing those in the “mainstream media,” including the folks at the Forum, do about bloggers coarsening political debate, it was more than a little funny to see these flailing stalwarts of a dying industry resort to such a personal attack.
Today the “portly” jab at me remains in the version of the editorial published on the Forum’s website, but it’s been taken out of versions of that editorial re-published in Forum Communications’ other publications.
Here’s the original insult:
No matter how this thing gets the spin treatment by Berg’s people (or portly cheap-shot bloggers who do what they do without regard to facts, accountability or application of basic reporting skills), the Berg ad crosses the line.
Here’s how that same passage reads in the editorial’s re-publish in the Jamestown Sun:
No matter how this thing gets the spin treatment by Berg’s people (or cheap-shot bloggers who do what they do without regard to facts, accountability or application of basic reporting skills), the Berg ad crosses the line.
I guess maybe there are some adults in the room at Forum Communications who don’t think fat jokes are such a great thing to include in their editorials.
