Empire State Building Will Be Turned Red To Celebrate Communist China’s Birthday

An enduring, iconic symbol of America’s free markets cast in a crimson red glow to celebrate….communists.
Wonderful.

NEW YORK — New York’s iconic Empire State Building will light up red and yellow Wednesday in honor of the 60th anniversary of communist China.
The Chinese consul, Peng Keyu, and other officials will take part in the lighting ceremony which will bathe the skyscraper in the colors of the People’s Republic until Thursday, Empire State Building representatives said in a statement.

China is one of our biggest trading partners, and the biggest creditor of our nation’s national debt. I don’t have a problem with a former. I have a big problem with the latter.
And I have a big, big problem with celebrating a communist regime.

    ChiefRZ, while Jugashvili (Stalin) is one of the world's worst mass murderers, the number of innocents killed by him is "only" about 25 million, which is a "mere" four times that which Herr Schicklgruber murdered. (I'm excluding war casualties, for which both Schicklgruber and Jugashvili bear blame)

    And of course, most of Jugashvili's victims were Gentiles. Not that the ethnicity/race of the victims makes that much difference (Schicklgruber killed Jews, Jugashvili killed those he didn't like, too), but just for clarification.

    The number of deaths attributed to Stalin is closer to 60 million that 25 million, but that includes things like Soviet deaths during the second world war and the deaths from the famines.

    People often lump the WWII figures in because Stalin helped create the war with his alliance with Germany. Germany would never have invaded Poland without the Soviet Union's assent, though what they did was worse, they participated, kind of like throwing flames on the fire. (And with a Soviet Union allied against Germany, it is highly doubtful the Nazis ever would have engaged in such extreme military adventurism.) And of course the callous manner in which Stalin consumed human life in the war he waged against the Germans once his country was invaded.

    The famines were the direct consequence of the system of farming imposed by Stalin (collective farming), so it seems "obvious" to me he should be accountable for them.

    Of course even 60 million is just 10x larger than 6 million jews killed, but following the same logic, there were over 20 million people who died as a result of Hitler. Including soldiers who fought on the allied side to end Germany's aggression the final toll between Hitler and Stalin is probably over 100,000,000 people.

The current best estimates are certainly low, and the best estimates for the Chinese are certainly even lower.
