Email From A Reader: Obama’s Health Care Plan Means Government Control

Just got this in an email from a reader:

I am a ND resident and my husband and I have our healthcare thru BCBS of ND. We are both self employed and pay our own health insurance premiums. We pay $924 monthly which comes to $11,088 yearly. We are in our later 50′s and even though this is a large premium to pay each month, we know it is necessary that we have good healthcare coverage. And, we make some financial sacrifices to be sure we can afford these premiums.
If this healthcare reform goes through, people like myself and my husband will probably have no choice but to eventually go with the government plan. We know we’ll be paying a lot more in taxes if this goes through as there is no such thing as a free lunch! And we know our healthcare coverage will be limited. But, we’ll have no choice.
The BCBS’s will eventually be unable to compete with the government plans and we will then be totally dependent on our government run healthcare plans. That’s when people will wake up to what a mistake this will be! People like us that are in our later 50′s and older will soon find out that we’ll be the first to be told certain treatments won’t be available to us.

Health care is expensive now, but the fix being pushed by Obama and the Democrats doesn’t really fix anything. It perpetuates the same sort of third-party paying system that disconnects health care consumers from health care costs, thus providing no market incentives for people to live healthier lives, or be smarter about their care.
If we want to fix health care we should seek to empower people to provide for their own health care, not make them dependent on the government.

I am convinced Dino is a contrivance this site uses in order to stimulate discussion.

    You caught us!
I took a random number generator program written for a Commodore 64, then substituted meaningless phrases and insults for numbers. I gave it a rather limited vocabulary that certainly would not pass a Turing test, then tried to find a cartoon avatar that wouldn’t convince a two year old to represent him.

I consider the fact that people still respond to my program, a tribute to the programmer’s art!

PS: The caballo that Dino is kicking is still quite muerto!

It will be just like medicare. When a citizen reaches age 65 he must sign up for medicare and if he has private insurance, that policy becomes the secondary coverage. If a person doesn’t sign up for social security, the private plan doesn’t pay.

Good for them, paying $924 a month. In a few years that’ll be $1200.

Ask this idiot conservative if they’ve made any claims. Individual policies are the easiest for providers to decline coverage on.

This email proves you can’t fix stupid.

  • Tuna

Dino is wrong–since this couple is not receiving the BC/BS insurance as an employee benefit, they can file an unfair claims practices complaint with the state Department of Insurance–and sue the carrier for bad faith, which they could not have done as part of a group.

I am convinced Dino is a contrivance this site uses in order to stimulate discussion. Nobody–not even a screaming liberal, is that obtuse on a consistant basis.

When you are self employed you have no other choices but either individual coverage or be self insured (incurring 100% of your medical expenses).

I don’t know where you get your facts from about individual policies easily denying coverage, but from a person whose family has BCBS for years as we are self employed, we have not had one problem. The same goes for other extended family members (a couple who are in their 50s).

From routine exams and preventative care, to kids with a multitude of illnesses and injuries, we have had all of our dozens of claims processed 100%.

What is stupid about assuring your family has adequate health care insurance and not creating a financial burden on your family due to medical bills?

The rest of us, with a very few exceptions, are convinced, strike that, know that Dino is an idiot.

Ask this idiot conservative if they’ve made any claims.

Are you sure it’s an idiot conservative? There’s no claim to political affiliation. It could be a liberal that wised up. Nahhh, that could never happen.

I kicked your ass over reagan’s 11% unemployment rate, Spartacus-stem.

    You disappeared that day.

I kicked your ass over reagan’s 11% unemployment rate, Spartacus-stem.

    You disappeared that day.

I disappeared because unlike you I have a job and take those responsibilities seriously. I don’t have hours to spend waiting for you to rehearse your response. I went to bed, went to work the next morning, and will pay my bills with the wages I’ve earned after the government robs from me to give to your lazy dead ass. BTW, How’s that 12+% unemployment thing working out for you deadbeats in Oregon? Your welfare checks getting smaller yet or is your state going deeper in debt? Too bad you’re not conservative, you might have had a rainy day fund to tap into now, HAHAHAHAHA, Dimwitocratic Losers.

^ Dino, btw you misspelled “licked”

The highest unemployment is outside the Willamette Valley and south, in the republican parts of the state. Out there where WillHuntforGovernmentContracts lives.

They deserve all the unemployment they can get.

I still kicked your stupid conservative ass with the fact about reagan’s 11% unemployment!

Personally I was hoping for more stupid people to post about how they pay over $900 a month for health insurance and yet don’t want affordable, government-sponsored insurance. I felt sorry for Gene paying out the ass for insurance until he posted his plan built on radically individual selfishness.

C,mon, stems! Give me more stories of how you pay out ass for health care. Those stories make my day! If you can throw in a few stories about republicans losing their jobs or houses that would be welcomed too.

What Dino isn’t telling you is that his people up in Portland launched an attack on the timber industry in the eighties that has evolved into a bunch of freaks getting mad if you clean the forest floor (it’s kindling for forest fires), you dookie on the forest floor (take it out in a bag or Gore police will get you), drove up fuel prices so the loggers go broke, and basically went nuts in trying to destroy the logging industry.
Now the state is on the brink of disaster. It’s not far from another Michigan and California. I have lived where the Stark Street/Eagle PDX King Dino lived, in southern Oregon, and have my degree from Eastern. I know that state and I know it is the far left that has ravaged it.
The conservatives didn’t do it? They haven’t been around in 20 years. No, Gordon Smith was not a conservative, so don’t even say it.

  • Spartacus

Again, you misspelled “licked”. Is you state nearing bankruptcy Like California? HAHAHAHAHAHAHA!!!!! Lick my ass again, it feels good in a weird way. Can you french, Dino?

Yeah, I know about that RJRS. A few years ago I was in the Ranier area, stopped at a local b&g for dinner and noticed they had “spotted owl” burgers on the menu. I figured they were small so I ordered 2. I was disappointed to find it was really beef…..

I’m not sure why you think slamming Oregon bothers me; I’m not a native nor do I care about the state per se, just Portland. We’re doing as well as most places in this Republican Depression of 2009. Besides, the people hit hardest are the republicans outside the Willamette Valley. Who gives a fuck about them?

But that still doesn’t change the fact that you people are out of power. Just think, a little less than 3 years ago you had control of it all! Now, you have NOTHING and are busy fending off public health care and just had you ass handed to you by a liberal latina headed for the Supreme Court! Imagine telling someone that in the summer of 2006!

Then there’s the republican party. What a mess! Just look at the loss of support in every demographic group on the graph! (Pay close attention to those young people!)

Oh, and you were both still very wrong about the unemployment rate under Reagan! It WAS 11%! Well, 10.8!

So much for who hands whose ass to whom. Have a good night guys! I know I will.

  • Slacker Deluxe

Have a good night guys! I know I will.

    Nambla convention in portland?

  • RJ Richards

Bottom line is that Dino lives in Oregon. It’s his state. The liberals have ran it for years. He might put up something that shows some Republicans in charge of something, but they were liberal Republicans. The word conservative hasn’t been uttered in Salem for 20-25 years.
Dino lives in a state that is governed by liberals every step of the way (local on up). It is a state that is decaying and dying. Small business is suffering on the coast and in rural areas. 1. Michigan 2. California 3. Some combination of Oregon, New York, and Washington state.

You may not care about your own state, but it’s dying. Why? Not because of GWB or the conservatives. Nope, it’s on you and your buddies. Congrats.

Liberals offer nothing creative. Everything revolves around taxes and control. Nothing can survive in that climate.
