Eight Random Facts About Me

I never do these meme things on the blog, mostly because they get repetitive and boring.  And because people mostly seem to do them because...people love talking about themselves.  But since it’s Saturday, I’m at a loss for what else to post and I’m bored, here it is.

Here are the rules:

1. Let others know who tagged you.

2. Players start with 8 random facts about themselves.

3. Those who are tagged should post these rules and their 8 random facts.

4. Players should tag 8 other people and notify them they have been tagged.

My eight random facts:

  1. People, up to and including my wife, tell me I look like Jack Black.  Personally, I don’t see it.
  2. I love music.  My music collection is wide-ranging, eclectic and gigantic.  I cannot play music, however.  I have been trying off and on to play the guitar since I was six and still can’t play more than a few notes.
  3. I am an absolutely sap for the “cheesy chick flick” genre of movies.  I cried like a sissy girl at the end of The Notebook.  Other movies I’ve cried during: Field of Dreams (the part where they play catch at the end really gets me), Saving Private Ryan, Forrest Gump and What’s Eating Gilbert Grape.
  4. When I was in high school I got in a head-on accident on my snowmobile which landed me in the hospital for a month, and in a hospital bed at home for three more months after that.  This pretty much ended my high school sports career.  Up until then I like to think I was a decent defensive tackle on the football team.
  5. I am a rabid baseball fan.  I root for the Yankees, and all but bleed pinstripes.
  6. I don’t have cable television, mostly because there isn’t enough on television I want to see to justify spending the money.  But when I’m in a hotel, or at somebody else’s house, I usually can’t stop watching the History Channel.
  7. I was born in Anchorage, Alaska.  I moved to North Dakota when I was ten and resented my parents for it.  Though I’ve come to love my adopted home, I still miss the mountains.
  8. In the 2000 presidential election, which was the first one in which I could legally vote, I cast my ballot for Al Gore.  For this, I blame MTV.

I’m supposed to “tag” eight other people to carry this on.  I have no idea who to tag, so if you’re reading this consider yourself “tagged.”

And yeah, I know.  I’m breaking the rules.  Sue me.

We all have our secret shame! I was a McGovern Democrat when I was young and stupid!

Here I come out and share a little of myself with my readers, and Anna makes fun!

The war against illegal plunder has been fought since the beginning of the world. But how is… legal plunder to be identified? Quite simply. See if the law takes from some persons what belongs to them, and gives it to other persons to whom it does not belong. See if the law benefits one citizen at the expense of another by doing what the citizen himself cannot do without committing a crime. Then abolish this law without delay … If such a law is not abolished immediately it will spread, multiply and develop into a system.

8 Facts about me

1. Whilst being honest and law-abiding, I have a disdain for rules and regulations. (Hence, like Rob’s post, you can consider yourself tagged if you read this!)

2. I worked in low and medium security psychiatric hospitals for nine years after school, often with pretty unsavoury characters.

3. I was a staunch raver for ten years from the age of 17. I still listen to techno and hard house music in the work van, but rarely go to parties these days.

4. Say Anything was the first blog I ever read, I stumbled into a debate on global warming and haven’t left. I’ve tried other blogs, but have not yet found others as engaging and entertaining.

5. My screen name is the literal meaning of my own name. Aidan (From Gaelic meaning fire or man of fire) Luce (From French from Latin meaning light)

6. I am married to and separated from an American, from Tulare, California. We have no kids.

7. In general elections, I have never voted for the winning political party. In the ‘97 general election, the year Blair came to power, I voted for the legalise cannabis candidate, Howard ‘Mr. Nice’ Marks.

8. My dad joined a Buddhist seminary when I was five years old. Obviously, their relationship faltered, leaving my mother to raise me and my sisters (effectively) alone. She did a bang up job!

1. I was attracted to sayanything because of guest blogging.  My real name is Dave and I am not a doctor.  My blogging moniker docdave came from a label I was given by one of my employees because I was the go-to person for tough technical problems. i.e. go see Doc Dave.

2. My birth place is Mahnomen, Mn and my engineering degree is from the U of M.  My first 30 or so years were spent in Minnesota; the rest in Texas except for a 2 year period in Virginia.

3. I spent my early youth in the ‘good old days’ when indoor plumbing, electricity, central heating and other conveniences that most of you today believe are a minimum stsndard ere a rarity.  I hsve no desire to go back to that period.

4. I have voted in more elections than I can easily count and for every candidate in the spectrum.  I was a libertarian in the 1990a and didn’t vote for either Clinton or Bush (2000).  I have no real political affiliation now but lean toward the Republicans because the alternate is so frightening.

5.  I beleive that the world is currently under siege by the muslims and don’t see an easy answer out of this predictament.

6. I was married, divorce and have one child, a son named Chris.

7. I have travel extensively having visited and worked in many states exceptions being Idaho, Hawaii and Alaska.  Foreign countries I have visited are Mexico, France, Netherlands, Switzerland and British Isles.

8. In general I believe in laizze faire. Unfortunately that philosophy seems to be lost on most people as they continously meddle in the private affairs of others.

I pass this on to any that have not yet been selected.

Being liberal is never having to admit you’re wrong

Anyway, here are the rules:

Rules? We don’t need no stinking rules! (Other than, Don’t read these eight random facts while operating heavy machinery!)

1. I share the same birthday with Rob and Robert E. Lee, at 2:30 in the morning. ( Since I was born on the East Coast, my birthday shifted to 11:30 the day before when I lived in California.)
2. I own a snowblower. (After living in California for two score and change, that’s a strange thing to admit!)
3. I worked on a section steel gang for the SP Railroad. I swing a pretty mean spike maul!
4. I was Program Director for my college radio station. I parlayed this into a MOR FM station gig where I played a lot of Mantovani &
Los Indios Tabajaras. (Because I liked their music and I liked saying “Los Indios Tabajaras”)
5. I have five children and one ex-wife. Four boys, two girls. (Do the math!)
6. I once owned a dog I had to train to come when I whistled, because his name was too embarrassing to call out in public. (Long story!)
7. I built my last computer from scratch. I should name it “Big Government”. It ran seriously over budget. Took longer to build than anticipated and is a massive presence I find hard to ignore!
8. Of all the puns I’ve penned, my favorite is: If René Descartes had been a poet, rather than a philosopher, might he have said,

“I think, therefore Iambic pentameter“

1) All my life, even before the internet, I’ve wanted to be the greatest left-handed blogger.  That turns out to be impossible due to a birth defect.

2) The first person I voted for for president was Ronald Reagan.

3.  I am married with children.  Not divorced although my wife says I spend too much time on the computer.

4.  I’ve visited lots of place but never lived outside of North Dakota even during college.

5.  I follow two sporting teams, Fighting Sioux Hockey and the Minnesota Twins.

6.  I hold love in my heart for all men besides murderers, terrorists, child molesters and college hockey referees.

7.  I believe that most problems are caused by liberals and government.

8. I’ve never as much as tried an illegal drug.

I won’t vote for Whistler as his long time secret Email messages to some of us blogging here, other than picking on Rob, are all about voting for the Jesse Jackson-Al Sharpton ticket and that seems a bit bizzare to me!

Anna on July 15, 2007 at 11:53 am

Sorry to be playing “Catch Up” here.  Spent yesterday in Alabama visiting in-laws.

Anna,

Since you asked… here goes:

1. I am very much a hopelessly incurable romantic.

2. Nero Wolfe once said that music is the last vestige of barbarism.  He was wrong!. I love music, particularly nasty Southern Rock ‘n’ Roll, Jazz, and Baroque chamber music.  I can listen to most music and know the notes before they are played, and if it’s a classical piece, I can usually tell the composer and certainly his country of origin, even if I’ve never heard the music before.  On the other hand, sadly, my musical talent extends no farther than the On/Off switch and the volume control.

3. I am a gym rat and a martial arts fanatic.  I love to sweat., and I love the feeling of sore muscles (not to mention the satisfaction of hitting a heavy bag).  But years ago, when I finally decided to quit smoking, I stopped working out and my weight ballooned up to nearly 250 pounds. (Its back down to about 210 now.)

4. My parents, who are still with us, are two of the three nicest persons I have ever known in my life.  The first contact with politics that I can recall is an “I Like Ike” button from my childhood.

5. I own several valuable pieces of artwork, including a Rembrandt pen and ink drawing and another which could be a Michaelangelo, but my favorite is a limited edition photograph of the Vietnam Memorial (the Wall), taken at the corner, showing the reflection of the walkway and the Washington Monument in the background.

6. I love to cook, and my favorite food is Italian, though as far as I know I have no Italian ancestry at all.  I never follow recipes or measure quantities when I’m cooking.  A great man once said, a meal without meat is an insult.  I believe the same holds true for wine (or beer).

7. I am left-handed and left-footed, but I golf right-handed.  In baseball, I’m a switch hitter.  I used to coach little league baseball, and once taught some kids to hit batting practice blind-folded.  My favorite sports team is also the New York Yankees.

8. I have an easy time getting to know other people, but I am not that easy to get close to.  Like Robert108, I’m very jealous of my own privacy and that of my family.

1.) I believe that liberalism is the root of most problems in our country. Just look at the immigration debate/problem.
2.) Avid Hunter: Ducks and Geese(favorite), Pheasants, Sharp Tail Grouse, Deer.
3.) Pro-Gun hard to hunt without guns. Mr. Gore; from my cold dead hands.
4.) Vote Straight ticket Republican ticket. First voted for Reagan in 1984…
5.) Favorite pass times golf and Hunting.
6.) Favorite sports are 1.) Hockey 2.) Football, 3.) Auto racing 4.) golf. More specifically I follow the NHL and Fighting Sioux hockey religiously and I an apologist for the Minnesota Vikings.
7.) I think Cindy Sheehan, Michael Moore and Rosie O’Donnell are pieces of crap, that the left and the MSM made them relevant.
8.) I believe that Bush did not steal the election like the left would like you to believe.

1. Conceived in Nanjing, Mainland China by Christian Missionary parents, exactly 9 months after the attack on Pearl Harbor, then born in Reno, Nevada. I guess you can figure out how they handled stress?
2. Marine Corps before and during Vietnam, trained with Force Recon, worked with the Naval Security Group.
3. After Marine Corps, spent a short time as a cop and then step by step I got into clinical medicine up to Physician’s Assistant, got involved with medical research with Stanford University Research Institute in a major colbat therapy study on sheep, onto medical product development, teaching in emergency medicine in places like Ireland, Spain, Japan, Taiwan, The Peoples Republic of China, Australia, India and Israel just to name few. Traveled by myself as a military tourist in Russia in the Sixties, Mexico and a few other places.
4. I lost my son, I have three daughters, three grandsons and 6 granddaughters my youngest 6 months. I came from a family of 10 siblings, only four of us left now, father and mother gone more than a decade. Most of us are Christians others believe in God and Christ but are not very passionate about it at all, I don’t beat them over the head about it, but sometimes I worry about the eteranl destiny.
5. I have written two books, one a doctoral dissertation on death and dying (It was accepted, but I did not accept the degree from this reputable seminary), the other a small Christian related book, very few sales. Now I am semi-retired, working with Special Needs Children for a local school district.
6. I like old movies, especially WW-II and Westerns, but I like movies like Zhivago, Lawrence of Arabia (Part time as an Tuxedo wearing usher in my youth I saw that dang movie about a hundred times), I loved The Best Years of our Lives, Since You Went Away, The Human Comedy, The Majestic, The Trip to Bountiful, A Straight Story, The Searchers. I love good old books, the English Classics, The Yearling, Of Human Bondage and any good story, well told, absent cursing or graphic sexual situations. I also enjoy long, boring science and history books.
7. I am not a Republican, I am a Reagan Conservative. I am an Evangelical Christian, quiet in person; but at work, among family and friends and even people I meet at the athletic club, people look to me to help them fight their battles when they are too shy or timid to stand up to people in authority. Even in the union at the school district, while I am not an active member and hold no office, most people come to me to fight for them when they need help rather than Union Representatives.
8. I believe in our Constitution as originally written and accepted by our Founding Father’s. I am passionately against activist judges and legislators at any level, and in believing that three separate but equal branches is best and despite the many megalomaniacs in the Congress, I do not believe the Executive Branch should in any way be subservient to the Legislative or Judicial branches. I believe we have the best military in the world by every measurement, the Marine Corps being the elite among them, I believe this country was founded by Christians and until 1948 we were for all intents and purposes, in spirit, a Christian nation, generous and kind to a fault and that despite the Democrat Party trying to turn this country into a socialist state, the United States is stil the greatest country on earth and we need never apologize to anyone for anything but our mistakes, and after that we have everything to be proud of as a people. Lastly, if you want to come to this country do it legally or get the heck out; and if you really love America and want to stay here: 1. Learn English, that is our language. 2. Don’t vote Democrat and try to change this country by that vote into the same craphole you left to get here.

No matter the age or state of health, for a military man it is always glorious to tilt at windmills, rescue a fair Dulcinea and be a gallant knight in armor in a glorious cause.

Neiman on July 15, 2007 at 04:52 pm

1. I can ski well. I have skied trails so steep and covered with trees it would make most people weep. My favorite sport to watch is hockey, I played hockey into high school.
2. I travel alot. I have been to england, wales, france, spain, italy, switzerland, germany, belgium, holland, canada, mexico, and most of the us.
3. I like analytic philosophy. Especially epistemology and metaphysics. Someday, I’ll be a professor of philosophy.
4. I like to sail and have done so competitively many a time. I like long, open water races in small boats with heavy wind. It gets very physical and scary.
5. I love the woods. They are the best place to be. I love to hunt and, barring that, go for very long strolls in the woods.
6. When its really hot sometimes I eat like 10 freezy pops in a row.
7. I have too many cameras - all sorts of both. I am an experienced photographer, photo lab technician, printer, and computer side photo whiz.
8. One time, I built a barn with one other person using minimal tools way up on a mountain in Vermont.

1.  I was born in Fairview, MT.  Part of Fairview is in ND.  I lived most of my life in Alaska.

2.  I have five kids.  Four daughters and and my Bunny Boy Rob.  I have eight grandkids.  Four boys and four girls.  Therefore.... Rob and Jess need to have twins.  A girl and a boy.  Can’t mess up the pattern!

3.  I have two wonderful dogs.  Heidi is a Border Collie/Shepherd mix.  I got her from the Humane Society.  She had been beaten, starved, and most likely shot.  Scruffy is a three pound Yorkie who thinks she’s a Rottweiler.  She’s certainly the Alpha Dog.

4.  I am married to my husband for nearly 40 years.  He travels a lot but I’m always here when he gets home.  He’s worth waiting for.

5.  My birthday is August 28.  Someone remind me to get my drivers license renewed!  I want Peace for my birthday.

6.  Baseball is my passion (except for my family) I’ve worked with a semi-pro team, a college team, and I’ve been involved in youth baseball programs for longer than I can remember.  We built a field in Alaska using hoes, rakes, shovels and drags pulled behind our cars.

7.  I am a Republican and a Lutheran.  But I currently have a problem with the ELCA because they have an Ecumenical Commitment with the Episcopal Church.  The Episcopal Church has a Priest who is also a Muslim.  Her Bishop supports her in her involvement with a Muslim church.

8.  Rob took piano lessons while he was injured.  He is a talented player if only he would practice.  If he denies this his former piano teacher will back me up.

Dutifully tagged by Anna, here is my list:

  1. I have an obsessive interest in html tags wink, as well as programming in general, an interest that is a strong component of my work.
  2. I was once described in a magazine as a “large, sandy haired kid from Indiana.” Huh. Top that.
  3. I really do make my living doing research, mostly in the “hard sciences” but I do work in the squishy sciences occasionally.  I am a “Dr.” but not that kind of doctor.
  4. I am happily married with four kids and one grand kid
  5. Like Bat One, I love marital arts.  Most of my training was modern martial arts under the style of Jeet Kune Do, with a mixture of Wing Chun, Gung Fo, Muay Thai, French Savate, Shoot Wrestling, Kali and Escrema, Ju Jitsu, and Penjat Silat among others
  6. I used to be a gym rat before I got married.  My wife owns a plant nursery so I get my exercise fix these days helping her with the occasional landscaping install.  In the hot Mississippi sun, these can be as hard a workout as anything I’ve done...
  7. I am a serious history nut, especially about military history.
  8. Socially I am a moderate, but fiscally a conservative.  I am a Christian, but am very much a realist in how I fix belief.
Carrick on July 15, 2007 at 07:48 pm

Actually, Carol .. your new #8 is technically the same as your #1. Raising kids and animals are the same.

Anna on July 15, 2007 at 09:34 pm

Why not,..for those who are interested…

1. 23 years ago I visited the Walt Disney World globe. “It’s a Small World” still plays in my head at least once a week. I even see the dancing animatronic children. I wish I could forget this experience.

2. My second and third toes on both of my feet are a little webbed. There is skin almost up to the first joint. It was more noticeable when I was a young boy. Nowadays people don’t notice it unless I point it out.

3. I once had a job tearing down houses with both machines and simple tools. The job was fun, but I fear that I might have inhaled all kinds of ticking time bomb dust particles. Let’s hope I got lucky.

4. I’ve fallen in love twice. The last girl who swept my heart away has been with a girl since shortly after we broke up. I didn’t know about this for years. It came as a bit of a shock to me.

5. I have never been stung by a bee, broken a bone, or gotten stitches.

6. I nearly lost my life train hopping when I was 16. The coal train was speeding up, inertia took over, and my body lunged towards the wheels. I let go, landed right next to the wheels and scooted out. I never hopped another train afterwards.

7. I once turned on a big street steam roller and couldn’t figure out how to turn it off. It ended up making a trip through a couple of farm fences before crashing itself deep into the woods.

8. (Since baseball is a loved sport around here.) I have played in one perfect game in my life. I was 12 years old, left field position, bunted two runs in and scored once. We defeated a team that had beat us twice before and who had a pitcher who threw mid-80 mph steamers. The final score was 12 to nothing. 26 strikeouts and one flyout (I caught it). I should have hung up my hat after this game, but I went on to play for a couple of years more.

likwidshoe on July 15, 2007 at 10:38 pm

I’ll give my list for anyone that cares.

1) I have been on six of the 7 continents of Earth.  Haven’t made it to Antarctica.

2) I have broken 10 bones in my body due to various accidents throughout the years.  Thank goodness most of those were small bones.

3) I have voted for a Republican once for President (George W. Bush, 2004)

4) I have read three Ann Coulter books completely.  Slander, Treason, and How To Talk To a Liberal.  I still own Slander.

5) I dislike all Minnesota Professional Sports Teams.  I do more than dislike the Vikings.

6) I was part of a Hot Air Balloon chase team for over 6 months.

7) I can produce the sound of one hand clapping.

8) I was part of the oxymoron statement “Military Intelligence” when I was in the Army.

bak72 on July 15, 2007 at 11:00 pm

Okay, since I was tagged by Anna and everyone is being a good sport about this, I’ll play:

1. I spent 7 years in the military (from my 17th birthday to just after my 24th) a year and a half of which I spent in Morocco. Loved it.

2. After the military I worked for J. Ray Mcdermott International on the pipeline for 3 1/2 years. I worked in Nigeria, Egypt, and most of the Persian Gulf states.

3. Between industrial jobs I was a bartender, bouncer (at the Dungeon in the French Quarter if you can believe that. The place doesn’t even open until midnight.), hotel manager, and a variety of other things.

4. I became a cop by accident in 1988. I had a falling out with a boss and gave two weeks notice. Much to my surprise he accepted it. While making rounds with resumes I stopped in the local sheriff’s office. They hired me a week later. Been doing it ever since and can retire (!) in 20 months. Yay.

5. I’m bowlegged.

6. I’m a voracious reader and writer and I’ve had over a dozen of my own short stories published. If you google my real name you’ll find a bunch of them.

7. I’m married to a beautiful Cajun woman. And, yes, it’s true what they say about Cajun women’s temper.

8. I am a rabid New Orleans Saints fan. Who, by the way, are superbowl bound this year.

I was once described in a magazine as a “large, sandy haired kid from Indiana.” Huh. Top that.

My dad was once described in a newspaper as a “beefy man with chubby features and thinning hair.” And this was supposed to be a positive article about him.

You think looking like Jack Black is a negative....The best way I can describe myself is that if Roy Rogers and Charles Bronson had a love child it would look like me.

Yeesh.

Hi there! I’m back. Is it too late to play tag???

1. No one tagged me…
2. I was born in Phoenix, Arizona.
3.I am a Republican and very pleased to be one. Although I have many friends and relatives who are libs. Although I don’t particularly like their politics, I am pleased we still live in a free country where we can still choose to vote as a majority.
4.I am the mother of WILLisms.com owner. ( Will Franklin ) I found Say Anything Blog because Rob was a guest on WILLisms. I think Rob and all the SA guys and gals are funny, interesting, unusual, and most usually the combination of words used in the language is quite amusing! I just got hooked.
5.I hate Harry Reid, Nancy Pelosi, Robert Byrd and Hillary Clinton… and don’t understand how they continue getting elected.
6. People have compared me to Goldie Hawn, Marlyn Monroe, and Jane Mansfield. ( I guess that means I am a dumb blond?? )
7. My bestfriend gave me the nick name Zsa Zsa. It could be because I am a little high to maintain??? I am really not sure.
8. I have not been blogging as much lately because I have been traveling alot and have had a great deal of company. I have reeeeeeally missed everyone!

Zsa Zsa on July 16, 2007 at 12:40 pm

I’ve been TAGGED by Anna.

2. I’ve been in the middle of Hindu-Muslim riots.
3. I had to have my kidney rebuilt (ouch!)
4. I do fantasy art - elves, fairies, dragons and so on.
5. Kinda related: I am a HUGE Harry Potter fan.

8. My favorite ice cream flavor is cookie dough!

Ken McCracken on July 16, 2007 at 01:01 pm

Uh oh! I’ve been tagged by Ken.
1. I first ran into Ken on his former blog Am I A Pundit yet? Ken is always full of surprises. 2. I am also an artist. oil painting is my thang. 3. I have missed blogging on SA. 4. Zsa Zsa on July 16, 2007 at 01:19 pm

8. I think it would be fun to drive a monster truck…

Even more fun to, like, drive it over stuff.

Ken McCracken on July 16, 2007 at 01:31 pm

I would love to drive over stuff! The only thing is, HOW do you get up and out of it?

Zsa Zsa on July 16, 2007 at 01:38 pm

5. I called the radio station where Rob was and hungup because I got too scared!

HAHAHA… Zsa Zsa I am laughing because that sounds EXACTLY like me!

I don’t actually think it’s a negative.  I just don’t think I look like him either.

5. I called the radio station where Rob was and hungup because I got too scared!

Was it one of the podcasts, Zsa Zsa?  Because if so I saw your call come through and was just about to bring you on air when you went offline.

Anna has been doing a lot of tagging.

1.  You are my first personal message.

2.  Honest and law-abiding, but may break them sometimes, however, will own up and pay the penalty naturally!

3. Enjoyed listening music, still do occasionally.

4. Say Anything was the first blog that linked to mine.  This one has almost instant posting and most everyone is civil and intelligent.

5. I keep up with USAF physical training standards even after retirement.

6. I mostly read non-fiction, but sometimes indulge in well written books.  Lately:  The List, a few of Edward S. Aarons and Nick Carter series.

7. I write under several personnas on a fantasy blog.

8. It takes a long time for me to trust person, but then we usually remain friends for life.  One I met in Hungary in 1996 still writes and we recently visited here in the USA a year ago in OK.

I usually don’t play these type games, but like I said, most of the people here are adults!

Teasing is good.  I’m smiling.

5. I have never been stung by a bee, broken a bone, or gotten stitches.

I’ve been stung by a bee once.  I was 7.  Still remember it.  I got my first stitches on June 2 when I crashed with my Vespa.  Got a broken leg and finger too.

Pilgrim, I’ve been to the Dungeon many times… maybe you even tossed me once?

Anna has been doing a lot of tagging.

Yes, indeed

1. my username is a conglomeration of “I am not a crook” Richard Nixon and “elect” because I have an electrical construction / engineering background.  My CB handle in high school was Nixon.

2. Broken bones: I slammed my finger in a car door the summer before I started kindergarten.

3. Stitches:  Never had any.  I cut my hand pretty bad at work one day, and it should have gotten stitches but since I waited until after work to go to the doctor, he refused to do stiches since it could get infected.  After the bufferfly bandages that he put on fell off a couple of hours later, I taped my thumb to my index finger until the wound closed (the cut was in the ‘web’ and kept opening.

4. Bee stings:  I got stung by a bee when I was about 5 and had an allergic reaction that required a shot.  I got stung by 3 at once a few years later and didn’t have any problems.

3. Blog history:  I linked to SAB from another blog in early ‘05, I think.  I was stumbling all over the blogosphere looking for good blogs and ended up reading right thinking girl (no longer active), Colby Buzzell’s ‘my war’, rightwingsparkle, and various milblogs.  Somebody linked to SAB and mentioned that Rob was having trouble with his ISP.  I originally viewed for the Friday babes, by decided to stay for the new & commentary.  I remember that 2H9, Carol, lik, Seth, Marty, and a few others were already here.

4. ND is one of about 10 states that I haven’t been to.

5. I’ve pretty much always had the same political views that I have now.  Everything I learn merely reinforces what I already beleived.

6. My dad was in the army and later the army reserves.  He was sent overseas under two democrat presidents (LBJ & WJBC) and one Republican (W).

7. My brother is on his way to Iraq with the USAR.  He’s also been to Afghanistan and Macedonia.

8. I have to go to work now, so I can’t write any more.

electnixon on July 17, 2007 at 06:06 am

I got tagged by Anna so here goes:

1.  Since Anna’s real name is Kristine and not Anna, I too will confess my name is not Troy.  Troy Pineri is an anagram for Iron Pyrite.  So Steve Cates can quit googling Troy. Hehehehe My real name is Luke Wilson, just like the actor.

2.  I was born in Bismarck, ND but I moved to Montana in 1988.

3.  My first brush with politics was the 88 race.  I watched every debate, and I wanted to vote for Reagan but wasn’t old enough.  I also wanted to vote for Bush Sr. (2 times), and Bob Dole.  My first vote was for George Bush Jr, because John McCain didn’t get the ticket. I didn’t vote in 2004.

4.  I consider myself a conservative.

5.  Currently I am active in the ND Dem-NPL party, and consider myself a member of the Non Partisan League which cacauses with the Democrats.

6.  As a child I traveled with the carnival which gave me the resources to go to private school and purchase my first car.  I took a girl to the prom with that money too.

7.  I am a self made business man.  I recently celebrated the 5th anniversary of my first business.

8.  I believe in a Creator(s), but I don’t believe that Jesus was divine in any way, but he was an amazing philosopher.  I don’t believe in having a relationship with any and all Creator(s).

"All the perplexities, confusion and distress in America arise not from defects in their Constitution or Confederation, nor from want of honor or virtue, so much as downright ignorance of the nature of coin, credit and circulation.”

I too was tagged by Anna. Here are my eight random facts…

1. I am married with 1 child (hoping for more).
2. I was brought up in
