Edwards To Drop Presidential Campaign

News is out everywhere that John Edwards is about to end his presidential candidacy, according to a source in his campaign.

This is to his benefit. Rather than fight on quixotically in some pointless crusade 'for working people' or some other excuse to stay in the spotlight, Edwards is doing the right thing and going out while people are still paying at least a little attention to him. He is saving himself the embarassment of being a guest who doesn't know when to leave.

There are a few other candidates out there who should be that realistic.

Update: Ugh. Democratic cheerleader posing as journalist Nedra Pickler gushes tears into her grape Kool-aid over Edwards leaving the campaign:

DENVER - Democrat John Edwards is exiting the presidential race Wednesday, ending a scrappy underdog bid in which he steered his rivals toward progressive ideals while grappling with family hardship that roused voters’ sympathies, The Associated Press has learned.

Let’s get all of the decent people out of the election process so we know for sure that we’re getting more of the same.

ews48,

Your implication, that John Edwards is one of what you’ve quaintly called “the decent people”, is an example of fresh-as-the-morning-dew horse shit.

It takes a world-class hypocrite and not a “decent” person at all, to talk plaintively about the need for health care, as did Edwards repeatedly, when he was personally responsible for the dangerous lack of Ob/Gyn care in rural eastern North Carlina.

The people of North Carolina would not have re-elected this charlatan to a second term in the US Senate, so he decided to run for national office.

He made his fortune emotionally pleading and peddling to the intellectually-challenged juries of NC a hunk of junk medical science while the juries did not understand the repercussions to the health industry or have a basic knowledge of economics.

This lead him to believe the American public was as dumb as the juries that awarded him millions of dollars based on his gift of courtroom shucking and jiving, his ability to to profess medical untruths, and the channeling of the unborn. The hair did not hurt him, either.

Good riddance, let us hope he can just go away now.

Too bad we will never know how much this vanity campaign cost taxpayers.
Now he will go back to his hedge fund job and 30,000 square foot mansion.
Did you know his daddy worked in “the meyo?”

Good news is that he gets to spend time with his kids, especially the illegitimate one from Rachel Hunter, his former campaign worker.  Oh, and he gets to help his wife while she gets treatment for cancer.  He needs all the free time he can get for his family.

What will Ann Coulter write and speak about now?  The Silk Pony/Breck Girl is gone.
