Ed Schultz’s MSNBC Ratings Have Gone From Small To Microscopic

The Radio Equalizer has the details:

Now that one of liberal talk radio’s key figures has absolutely bombed on cable, however, the mainstream media hasn’t a word to say about it. In this case, it’s hot-headed Ed Schultz, who has taken a small MSNBC audience base and rendered it truly invisible, with ratings barely perceptible even when analyzed by a microscope.
If the formerly Fargo-based faux populist and paid union hack has an excuse, it’s that MSNBC’s overall audience has dropped like a rock since the Obamist regime took over in January. …
On Friday, his worst day so far, he scored the lowest 25-54 ratings of any cable news show between 6pm and midnight: just 75,000 average viewers nationwide. Overall, it wasn’t much better: 365,000. For every person watching the Ed Show, there were more than four tuned into his competition at FOX.

The problem with Ed Schultz is that he’s constantly trying to supply something for which there isn’t a lot of demand.
With his radio show, which was started by fund raisers thrown by Democrats like Byron Dorgan and Dick Gephardt and is kept on the air through payments from liberal interests like labor unions, Schultz operates in a talk radio market that just isn’t interested in liberal talkers. Look at the failures of Air America and the like.
With his television show, Schultz is supply something for which there is some demand (liberally slanted media), but he’s not being successful because that demand is already being met.
Conservatives have very few media outlets that slant in their favor. Fox News. A few national newspapers like the Wall Street Journal and the Washington Times. After that it’s pretty much just talk radio and blogs. Liberals have NPR. The Associated Press. Reuters. CNN. MSNBC. NBC. ABC. CBS. The New York Times. The Washington Post. PBS. And on and on.
Schultz, who isn’t exactly an intellectual heavyweight or even that entertaining a personality, is lost in a sea of people who are already doing what he does and doing it better.

    What you said negates itself.

Liberals do not need preachers to reinforce their beliefs.
    Conservatives do.
Thus the failure of the liberal TV and radio talk shows.

    No irony there.

oh he was definitely a conservative while in the GF market.

This is the big reason his show tanked. I watched it for a segment once. It’s horrible. I would have never thought anything could be worse than his radio show, until I saw his TV show.

Cons are scared to death of Ed Shultz.

Nonsense! He has a big mouth, sure, but nothing he says is gonna intimidate anyone who can think. He’s big physically, but that’s hardly impressive. He’s only a threat to women.

BTW, if I had your email address, the Feds would be knocking on your door. Cyberstalking is against federal law.

  • robert108

I don’t care how many times you call me “lying greek faggot”, or how much money you offer me for homosexual acts.

Two more lies from you, and another example of your making homo assault threats.
You do care, lying greek faggot, or else you wouldn’t be replying, and I have never offered you money for homosexual acts, which is why you have threatened me multiple times with homo assault.
You are a pathological liar, simply making things up to garner attention.

Please get treatment for your mental illness.

So that’s why no liberals go to the Daily Koz, the Huffington Post or Firedog Lake every day to get their talking points! Wait, they do, I’m so confused!
Greg in Alabama on April 23, 2009 at 06:58 am

Yes Greg. You are confused. I am talking about political “preachers” on TV and radio.

No, I’m not confused. You said radio, tv or the internet, you need preachers and you have them in spaces. The entire MSNBC is the church of the liberal. John Stewart is your Pope.

Ed deserves everything he gets. He is a complete jerk.

Like I said, I only watched one segment, but all he did is make feeble attempts at humor by poking fun at conservatives. Of course, he really thinks he is a funny guy because he has to laugh at himself after every shot. He’s just a buffoon.

I don’t care how many times you call me “lying greek faggot”, or how much money you offer me for homosexual acts.
As I said before, neither money nor bullying will make me respond to your perverted sexual overtures.
I do not know from where or how you got my e-mail address,
but as I have communicated to you no amount of money will entice me to engage in perverted sexual activities with you.
I will not allow you to give me a blowjob for $1,000 dollars, or any amount you may offer me. My answer is NO!

Ed was a giant bag of gas when he was a republican.
Ed is a giant bag of gas as a democrat.

the difference is that those on the left are able to recognize “bags of gas” regardless of political affiliation.

We are not, “lock-step”, tied to the moronic elements of the extreme.

And he was never really a conservative. He was just a mouthpiece looking for someone to tell him what to say.

Worse than Keith, something of an accomplishment, but otherwise irrelevant.
