Ed Schultz: Americans Need To Stop “Hiding Behind The Second Amendment” Because The Founding Fathers Were Racist

There isn’t much of what Ed SChultz has to say that’s ever really worth mentioning (Schultz is the sort of commentator who thinks loud talking and not-so-creative insults are an adequate substitute for reason and logic), but I had to chuckle when I saw that the man who once described himself as a “gun-toting liberal” joining the liberal chorus gun control in the wake of today’s school shooting.

“Tonight is… a time we as a people come to grips with a changing society,” Schultz said. “We need to be the Founding Fathers on how we deal with the sickness in our country called ‘gun violence.’ Hiding behind the Second Amendment doesn’t cut it anymore.”

“Hiding behind the Second Amendment can no longer be the shield for access. The people who wrote that document owned slaves, oppressed women, and were short on tolerance.”

That’s quite a departure from principle for a man who was once quite supportive of gun rights when he was but a lowly North Dakota talk radio host. Which just goes to show that Ed Schultz the television personality is just a character he’s paid to play. There’s not a lot of thought that goes in to what Schultz does.

He’s just following his lines.

Of course! He’s not smart enough to know that without the 2nd amendment, there would be no 1st amendoment.

That is the wisest comment under this thread so far. Without the 2nd Amendment, we will have no 1st Amendment.

Ed changed when he went hunting and shot his dog. Exactly how that happened has never been real clear. When he was criticized at the time he went on a rant about shooting at a pheasant and a stray BB hitting his dog. That didn’t ring true at the time, but who knows? He was hunting is south east North Dakota. The Heitkamps live in south east North Dakota. I have always wondered if they aren’t holding something over his head.

In order to hold something over Special Ed’s head, wouldn’t you have to coax it out of that dark, smelly place he inserts it when he’s not on the air?

  • yy4u2

Ed pulls up his chelly (chin belly), thought he saw a set of balls, n said the Founders lacked tolerance? Guessing foul n fat mouthed Ed would have been schooled in a dual.

In reality it comes down to the Left wanting to be the only ones that have guns……..and history has showed us how that works out

BillAyers and his ilk had meeting 10 yrs ago on planning what to do with the really ardent 25million plus conservatives.

The left wants to remove guns from the equation….because they already have a plan laid out in a world without the 2nd amendment.

Ed just took a flyer on which side he thinks will win out……he must have read the book of Rev.

  • Dallas

He’s right about some of the founding fathers. Jefferson, who wrote the Declaration of Indepedence, had slaves and in fact had a very young black woman as his mistress. Brilliant but quirky, racist and like Scott Hennen, familiar with financial difficulties.

We protect gun owners, why not kids?
Want an assault rifle? Join the military.

    • sbark

Why not just enforce the Gun Control Act of 1968 — specifically people who have been involuntarily committed, found by a court to be incompetent or dangerous, or those who’ve already committed a crime but were found not guilty by reason of insanity………..

Define “assault rifles”?………as with the definition of “rich”—-that is under constant evolution by the left. Under Clinton it was 2 million—under the Bampster its 250k, and with his spending it needs to be 65,000.

We are paying for the sins of politicians past. Reagan began cutting funding to mental health care alone with every other president in the last 30 years. The reward? Homeless flooding the streets, drug addictions and mass shootings.

    • kevindf

It was John Kennedy who started closing mental hospitals back in the sixties.

      • camsaure

JFK didn’t want them to all be filled with libs, as it is a mental disorder. This is demonstrated and proven constsntly by Schultz.

It’s “Homeless flooding the streets” ?

I thought it was Katrina and Sandy…

The Newtown horror has struck a nerve. Not just here but all over the world, where there has been an outpouring of sympathy, support and grief expressed.(see timesofisrael.com ) It’s as if we have all been made victims of this one 20 yr old’s insanity. It is of course the murder of the innocents that strikes at our collective heart.

Some across the blogs (and of course Ed Shultz @ MSNBC) are calling for the end of 2nd Amendment rights. They generally say something like “We must stop hiding behind an old idea about bearing arms, added to the Constitution by men who never envisioned modern day weapons” This is of course nonsense because the 2nd Amendment was always about a free people having weapons to defend themselves from the tyranny of government…be they muskets then or semiautomatic guns now.

But the true danger of these emotional calls to take away our rights is in the clear but unspoken assumption that it can be done outside of the process outlined by the Founders. Imagine what kind of government reach would be able to not just stop all gun sales, but retrieve from every home guns already owned. It’s a nightmare vision of what would surely be civil war.

For those who care to know how to legally pursue their dream of no guns for The People, rescinding the 2nd Amendment is possible. Here is how:

As spelled out in Article V, the Constitution can be amended in one of two ways. First, amendment can take place by a vote of two-thirds of both the House of Representatives and the Senate followed by a ratification of three-fourths of the various state legislatures (ratification by thirty-eight states would be required to ratify an amendment today). This first method of amendment is the only one used to date. Second, the Constitution might be amended by a Convention called for this purpose by two-thirds of the state legislatures, if the Convention’s proposed amendments are later ratified by three-fourths of the state legislatures.

Which Democrat politician is going to introduce the repeal legislation in Congress or call for a Constitutional Convention?

I am not interested in smacking anyone down, only engaging in civil, rational debates for my own better understanding and perhaps on occasion benefit someone else. I would rather encourage others in the right direction, not smack anyone down.

You really are a useless piece of crap, aren’t you? How useless is that, usually crap at least works as fertilizer, dried up from cows to burn in a furnace for heat, but you are not even worth any of that, all that comes out of your sick head is crap, useless, odorous – CRAP. Schultz and you are of the same source and deserve any insults as you are both useless.
