There isn’t much of what Ed SChultz has to say that’s ever really worth mentioning (Schultz is the sort of commentator who thinks loud talking and not-so-creative insults are an adequate substitute for reason and logic), but I had to chuckle when I saw that the man who once described himself as a “gun-toting liberal” joining the liberal chorus gun control in the wake of today’s school shooting.
“Tonight is… a time we as a people come to grips with a changing society,” Schultz said. “We need to be the Founding Fathers on how we deal with the sickness in our country called ‘gun violence.’ Hiding behind the Second Amendment doesn’t cut it anymore.”
“Hiding behind the Second Amendment can no longer be the shield for access. The people who wrote that document owned slaves, oppressed women, and were short on tolerance.”
That’s quite a departure from principle for a man who was once quite supportive of gun rights when he was but a lowly North Dakota talk radio host. Which just goes to show that Ed Schultz the television personality is just a character he’s paid to play. There’s not a lot of thought that goes in to what Schultz does.
He’s just following his lines.
