Earl Pomeroy: Still No Ideas On Social Security
Rep. Earl Pomeroy:
Typical, party-line, Democrat obstructionism. Priority one is to stop the Republicans. What comes second is solving America's problems.
I wonder if the idea that now of all times, when ideas for reforming Social Security are being bandied about all over the nation, would be a great time for somebody in Congress to submit some of the brilliant ideas his party has for the program to Congress (the ones they're saving for after the Republicans are defeated) has ever crossed the mind of North Dakota's representative?
"We are going to stand and fight to kill the privatizing approach," said Rep. Earl Pomeroy, D-N.D., a leading House opponent to privatization. "Once that's done, we have an agreement, maintaining the existing benefit structure. We decide how we fix the long-term solvency structure so that in 2041 we don't run out of money."
