Earl Pomeroy Holds $2,500/Head Fundraiser At Pennsylvania Report

As fellow North Dakota Democrat Kent Conrad faces questions about why he took a cushy “VIP loan” from a disgraced mortgage company executive to purchase a home he never reported on public disclosure forms, at-large Representative Earl Pomeroy readies himself for a $2,500/person fund raiser at a posh Pennsylvania resort:

BISMARCK — U.S. Rep. Earl Pomeroy, D-N.D., is hosting a $2,500-per-head campaign fundraiser this week at a sprawling Pennsylvania resort, an event Duane Sand’s campaign says illustrates the congressman is out of touch with North Dakotans.
The e-mailed invitation to the event asks contributors to “please join Congressman Earl Pomeroy for a weekend of championship golf, world-class spas and family entertainment at Nemacolin Woodlands Resort,” Farmington, Pa.
Advertised as “a whimsical place where you can escape life,” Nemacolin boasts 10 restaurants, two tennis courts, five pools, multiple golf courses, a shooting academy, guided fly-fishing, horseback riding, petting zoo, off-road driving academy, zebra and black bear habitat, bison, live animal shows, paintball combat, mountain biking, ropes courses, wall climbing and an airfield, in addition to skiing in winter months. It is in southwestern Pennsylvania, between Pittsburgh and Washington, D.C.

Why is Earl Pomeroy, who is running for re-election in North Dakota, holding fund raisers in Pennsylvania?
And how many North Dakotans could even afford to go to a $2,500/person fund raiser?

“could even afford to go to a $2500/person fund raiser?” Kent Conrad can, he saved thousands on his mortage.

Why does ‘North Dakota’s blog for the easily influenced” think he is justified in pointing out that Duane “the Bathtub” (is that a fat joke?) Sand should is acting nefariously but for some reason he doesn’t find reason to comment on Pomeroy?

I think you missed the point of the post.

What I would like to know is how this type of out of state fund raising is permissible to the hypocrites who make up the democratic party leadership in North Dakota. Why is soliciting out of state funds permissible when it comes to the liberal congressional delegation, but not the governor?

Why does ‘North Dakota’s blog for the easily influenced” think he is justified in pointing out that Duane “the Bathtub” (is that a fat joke?) Sand should is acting nefariously but for some reason he doesn’t find reason to comment on Pomeroy?

Here we see the author making a fallacy claiming that the North Dakota NPL’s take some money from out of state. “The right-wing spin machine likes to go after North Dakota’s Democratic-NPLers for taking some money from out-of-state.” (emphasis added). The fallacy is that the North Dakota Congressional delegation take MOST of their money from out of state. Not half, MOST. The strident missive goes on to say this, “A Democrat takes a couple thousand from some progressive rich guy in Florida and — boom — the whole political party is tarnished.” No I would suggest with guy like Pomeroy, Dorgan and Conrad, the party of the far left in North Dakota was tarnished long before their out of state money had light shined on it. But, nice try.

From this blog “Hoeven is reporting that 87% of his money came from North Dakotans, but that’s a little misleading. Sure 87% of his contributors are from North Dakota, but according to his last disclosure report from 2007 Hoeven raked in $1,263,891.50 with over $495,000 of it coming from out-of-state contributors… Mathern doesn’t have a shot at beating Hoeven no matter how much money he has in his war chest, and really why would North Dakota’s “big three” Democrats want to replace Hoeven anyway?

On most statewide issues, at least fiscal issues, Hoeven is about as liberal as they are so why not just let him stay in office?” So not only does this site HONESTLY report about the money, Hoven, the so called Republican governor gets no real breaks here, either.

A blog may claim to be the most influential but what is that influence? Is it positive or negative? Is it an honest look at politics or is it a gambit in an effort to curry favor and influence over under informed voters, and non voters for that matter?

It is hard to believe that things like this still go on. Do these really think no one will notice. I am always shocked how easily these guys are bought. At least he did better than the guy in Alaska. I think he got a free back deck and a BBQ grill.

Most North Dakotans are dumber and less career-driven than Earl Pomeroy.

This supposes that Earl Pomeroy would be capable of making significant amounts of money in the private sector.

He didn’t do too well chasing ambulances in Jamestown for two years before he found a way to get back onto the government teat which he latched onto growing up and remained on through the end of college.

Art, I believe Chris is addressing posts on northdecoder, not this post.

I have repeatedly asked why candidates for state and municipal positions fund raise outside of the state or municipality in which they will hold office? A question that Democrats attack and Republicans want answered.
