Drudge: Democrats Hoping Huckabee Gets The GOP Nomination Because He’s An Easy Target

A real “glass jaw” is the term being used:

Democrat party officials are avoiding any and all criticism of Republican presidential contender Mike Huckabee, insiders reveal.

The Democratic National Committee has told staffers to hold all fire, until he secures the party’s nomination.

The directive has come down from the highest levels within the party, according to a top source.

Within the DNC, Huckabee is known as the “glass jaw—and they’re just waiting to break it.”

In the last three weeks since Huckabee’s surge kicked in, the DNC hasn’t released a single press release criticizing his rising candidacy.

The last DNC press release critical of Huckabee appeared back on March 2nd.

It’s a rumor on Drudge so you’ve got to take it with a grain of salt, but it certainly rings true what with Huckabee already in hot water about his comments about AIDS patients, wives serving their husbands and his refusal to release his sermons from back when he was a pastor.

When you add those things (sure to irritate moderate voters) in with the fact that fiscal conservatives dislike Huckabees record on things like taxes and nanny-statism and you can’t help but feel that he’s one crappy candidate.

So why go with him when there are better options in the field?

Update: The DNC is saying this came from Romney, not them, but then again this isn’t exactly something they’d ‘fess up to anyway.

No kidding!

Huckabee might as well be a Democrat. The only thing I can see that he doesn’t have in common with the Dems is his stance on abortion.

Huckabee has to gang up on the LGBT community to show us what a real man he is. If he has to pick on a group of American citizens why doesn’t he pick a group that has the same rights, benefits & protections as he has?

Charlotte on December 11, 2007 at 10:21 am

I don’t at all understand what rights you might be missing.

[W]hat you’ve just said is one of the most insanely idiotic things I have ever heard. At no point in your rambling, incoherent response were you even close to anything that could be considered a rational thought. Everyone in this room is now dumber for having listened to it. I award you no points, and may God have mercy on your soul.

Guess who the DNC is the MOST afraid of:

DNC Press Release Attack Summary:

Governor Mitt Romney (R-MA) – 37% (99 press releases)
Mayor Rudy Giuliani (R-NY) – 28% (74)
Senator John McCain (R-AZ) – 24% (64)
Senator Fred Thompson (R-TN) – 8% (20)
Governor Mike Huckabee – 2% (4)

Huckabee has to gang up on the LGBT community…

It’s impossible for one man to “gang up”.

Charlotte - Huckabee has to gang up on the LGBT community to show us what a real man he is. If he has to pick on a group of American citizens why doesn’t he pick a group that has the same rights, benefits & protections as he has?

In other words: he shouldn’t pick on a group that has special protections and special laws.

What is the “LGBT community” anyways? I’ve known plenty of gay people in my life and none of them belonged to the “community”. Just be honest and say LGBT liberals.

A drunken monkey spells better than I.  Without spell check I may as well write in wingdings.

If there weren’t a spell checker built into my browser I’d probably sound like a halfway literate 6th grader.

Zsa Zsa on December 11, 2007 at 11:23 am

I didn’t know there was an auto-spellcheck until 6 months ago when lik dissed some one and suggested how to use it.

I think the number of negative ads run by the dnc against a republican front-runner (huckabee) speaks for itself.

Clearly the dems would love to run against this guy.

Did you see the link on drudge last night: “let’s take America back for Christ” ?  This guy is an easy target and his theology is a tad alarming even to this fundamentalist Christian.

Hey now! I remember giving a helpful suggestion to get the Firefox browser which has a built in spell checker that works by highlighting misspelled words as they are typed.

I do enough real dissing to have false dissing attributed to me.

How can Progressives consider another Progressive as an easy target?  Exaclty what slogans will they use to target against progressive Huckabee?

That said, many homosexuals are tired of being gang-banged by the GLBT community, are over the rainbow and want their lives back yet everytime they speak out they’re criminalized as homophobic.

The Identity Politics of Progressive living and its never ending search for some kind of substanitive meaning.

The problem with liberalism is the problem with collectivism.  The liberals need to be able to pander to groups, and those groups need to be victims so they can be the heroes, so they try to herd us all into these specific victims groups for said pandering.

That’s why nobody is ever just an American to a liberal, but a Mexican American or a Gay American or something like that.

Huckabee is a disaster! He’s weak on illegal immigration (despite his recent endorsment), weak on foreign policy, weak on fiscal conservatism and on and on and on.  If Evangelicals manage to get him nominated and he then loses big to Hillary, they will have hell to pay from me and other conservatives!

Cory on December 11, 2007 at 02:04 pm

Cory: If any Republican loses to Hillary, we will all have plenty to worry about!

Rob: “Liberalism/Collectivism” You may be North Dakota’s vilest curmudgeon, but you have hit the nail on the head with that one! Without groups of oppressed victims, liberalism has no reason to be.
