Drudge:  GORE MANSION USES 20X AVERAGE HOUSEHOLD

The Drudge Report is issuing a stunning new report of Algore’s hypocrisy.  Due to the fact that he doesn’t leave his flash reports up long I’m printing it in its entirity:

The Tennessee Center for Policy Research, an independent, nonprofit and nonpartisan research organization committed to achieving a freer, more prosperous Tennessee through free market policy solutions, issued a press release late Monday:

Last night, Al Gore’s global-warming documentary, An Inconvenient Truth, collected an Oscar for best documentary feature, but the Tennessee Center for Policy Research has found that Gore deserves a gold statue for hypocrisy.

Gore’s mansion, [20-room, eight-bathroom] located in the posh Belle Meade area of Nashville, consumes more electricity every month than the average American household uses in an entire year, according to the Nashville Electric Service (NES).

In his documentary, the former Vice President calls on Americans to conserve energy by reducing electricity consumption at home.

The average household in America consumes 10,656 kilowatt-hours (kWh) per year, according to the Department of Energy. In 2006, Gore devoured nearly 221,000 kWh—more than 20 times the national average.

Last August alone, Gore burned through 22,619 kWh—guzzling more than twice the electricity in one month than an average American family uses in an entire year. As a result of his energy consumption, Gore’s average monthly electric bill topped $1,359.

Since the release of An Inconvenient Truth, Gore’s energy consumption has increased from an average of 16,200 kWh per month in 2005, to 18,400 kWh per month in 2006.

Gore’s extravagant energy use does not stop at his electric bill. Natural gas bills for Gore’s mansion and guest house averaged $1,080 per month last year.

“As the spokesman of choice for the global warming movement, Al Gore has to be willing to walk to walk, not just talk the talk, when it comes to home energy use,” said Tennessee Center for Policy Research President Drew Johnson.

In total, Gore paid nearly $30,000 in combined electricity and natural gas bills for his Nashville estate in 2006.

Does anyone think that Algore would behave like this if he was sincere in what he says?

Such class envy, you might turn Green.

Gore’s family has taken numerous steps to reduce the carbon footprint of their private residence, including signing up for 100 percent green power through Green Power Switch, installing solar panels, and using compact fluorescent bulbs and other energy saving

Solar panels and special green power is all very well for those who can afford it, Woofie, but how about we plebes?

I guess we’ll just have to sacrifice while Goracle rides around in his carbon-neutral private jet.

And don’t you dare bring up class envy, Mr. Socialist.  This is about individual liberty.  We’re not asking Gore to give us anything, we just want him and his silly followers to quit trying to make our lives needlessly more expensive and complicated.

Such class envy…

Wrong again, WOOF! For us to envy Gore’s class, he’d have to have some!

For any voter trying to choose between the two candidates for commander in chief, there is no better test than this: When American strategy in a critical theater was up for grabs, John McCain proposed a highly unpopular and risky path, which he accurately predicted could lead to success. Barack Obama proposed a popular and politically safe route that would have led to an unnecessary and debilitating American defeat at the hands of al Qaeda.

Woofie, solar panels and compact fluorescent bulbs would reduce the power he buys from the utility.  So your inclusion of those two “facts” are completely irrelevant.

If he reduced his electrical consumption that would leave that ‘green’ power available to be used in lieu of coal power wouldn’t it.  So even though he signed up it’s not really helping.

The larger issue is that he’s not going to sacrifice his standard of living for a fraud.  Why should he expect us to?

What’s going to happen to US industry when the global warming extremists like John McCain double the price of electricity?  I would think all these factories will close and set up in countries where they aren’t scared of technology.

Good Lord!

Now I’m solidly middle-class, (yes, I realize his running made Edwards insists people like me don’t exist anymore) and this buffoon’s gas bill is bigger than my mortgage payment?  His electric bill can cover both the mortgage AND the payment on the mini-van???

And I’M[!!!!!] the one who needs to cut back????

Al, Buddy, you telling me to cut back on my energy consumption is like Michael Moore telling me to cut back on the Mickey-D’s Quarter Pounders.

Hypocrite.

WOOF: It’s not that he uses a lot. (Well, that’s part of it!)It’s that he has increased his usage, fluorescents and all, while preaching to everyone else that they must decrease their use!

16,200 kWh/month to 18,400 kWh/month

that’s a 13 1/2 per cent increase (for the math impaired)

Having worked in property management for a number of years as a manager and a consultant, I’ve done a lot of analyses such as what Tennessee Center for Policy Research, I would have looked at few things like:  What is the size (sq. ft.) and number of occupants of the average home?  What is the average energy consumption in Tennnessee specifically (energy consumption, as we know, varies greatly by local/regional factors, mainly local climate conditions).  What is the sq. footage of Gore’s home?  How many occupants does it have?  Are any business activities conducted in the home?

Without knowing the answers questions, you’ve got no way of knowing whether this is a smoking gun or not.  Unfortunately, the press release doesn’t give any of this info.  What we’ve got is a couple of big generalities and some fuzzy-looking analysis.  Let’s see some details!

I’ve also worked for several non-profits and, believe me, you’ll look a long time before you’ll find one on any side that is really independent and non-partisan, no matter what their literature says.  I’m from Missouri (really) - you have to show me.

This is about a big increase on an existing house, so it is a “smoking gun”.

Over at Wizbang, Kim quotes the following from a 2001 Rob Sullivan article in the Chicago Tribune, reprinted at commondreams.org, of all places.

The 4,000-square-foot house is a model of environmental rectitude

Geothermal heat pumps located in a central closet circulate water through pipes buried 300 feet deep in the ground where the temperature is a constant 67 degrees; the water heats the house in the winter and cools it in the summer. Systems such as the one in this “eco-friendly” dwelling use about 25% of the electricity that traditional heating and cooling systems utilize.

A 25,000-gallon underground cistern collects rainwater gathered from roof runs; wastewater from sinks, toilets and showers goes into underground purifying tanks and is also funneled into the cistern. The water from the cistern is used to irrigate the landscaping surrounding the four-bedroom home. Plants and flowers native to the high prairie area blend the structure into the surrounding ecosystem.

No, this is not the home of some eccentrically wealthy eco-freak trying to shame his fellow citizens into following the pristineness of his self-righteous example. And no, it is not the wilderness retreat of the Sierra Club or the Natural Resources Defense Council, a haven where tree-huggers plot political strategy.

This is President George W. Bush’s “Texas White House” outside the small town of Crawford.

As they say, there are those who talk the talk… and those who actually walk the walk.

Hmmm! I can SEE the smoke...I can SEE the gun...pay no attention to the man behind the curtain!

Gore says, in effect:  ”Everyone must reduce their carbon footprint to save the planet. I personally am rich, so I can buy enough “credits” to do any thing I damn well please...even use more energy if I want! You poor people need to get your act together, so that my rich friends and I do not have to change our lifestyles.”

That enough smoke for you?

I love being right. I said (on this here very site) months ago that the whole self-righteous crowd, from Hollywood to the Gorebot himself, were telling us to cut back while they lived on estates that drew more elctricity and used more gas that some small towns.

This is elitism at its worst. Gore and his crowd consider themselves American royalty. Do as I say, peasants, and be gone!!!!!!

Al Gore, who art in heaven,

Hallowed be thy Name.

Thy kingdom come.

Thy will be done,

On earth as it is in heaven.

Give us this day our daily bread.

And forgive us our trespasses,

As we forgive those who trespass against us.

And lead us not into temptation,

But deliver us from evil.

For thine is the kingdom,

and the power,

and the glory,

for ever and ever.

Amen.

Bill’s got a great challenge, and I’m here to answer it.  Gore’s Tennessee home, financed for his father by “Stalin’s Capitalist” Armand Hammer, is 10,000 square feet.  So not only is Gore using 20x the electricity and 10x the natural gas of most American families, he’s doing so in a home that’s only 5x bigger than that of most of us.  For the mathematically challenged, he’s using electricity at 4x the rate per square foot of most families, and natural gas at 2x the rate per square foot--and that in a southern climate to boot.

In other words, the man is a serious power hog, and the fact that he’s using solar panels to power some of it only makes the situation worse.  To add fuel to the fire, consider that he and Tipper are the only ones who live there.

Comrades, it is vital to Mother Earth that his Royal Highness, Al Gore, be allowed all of the amenities of his majestic honor. He is our savior, our Noah. He will lead us through this hell we have created with our ignorance because of the widespread epidemic that has led to the exponentially increasing death of your brain cells. You simple minded fools have no vision. You are nothing but flat world idiots. You are not worthy to lick the boots of the real President and Savior, Al Gore, Exalted Ruler of all that is noble and true. Beware of his wrath, for he shall invent some thing far more powerful than the internet and he shall smite you to eternal damnation for your sins against the globe and liberal hysteria. You must ignore the most recent government studies that indicate a direct connection between stupidity and global warming. Repent and ye shall have more in common with a beagle, Al Gore and Boy George than the kid who dries your windshield at the car wash. Come to AL, join him and become one of us, become mere briskets, wrapped in layers of fat, irrelevant, out of touch and utterly clueless. You will be exonerated and regarded with the highest esteem. Come brother and sister; enter the abyss of psychosis, delusion and CSS (Chronic Stupidity Syndrome).

THIS STORY IS TOTAL BULL - I own a house larger than Gores, and I’m sorry to say I’m a electric hog, I have 10 TV’s running, lights on, run the air or heat constantly, I have 4 computers running non stop, and I have my sister in law and her kid and my 2 kids and my wife living with me so the washer, dryer, and stoves (2) run constantly, I have over 31 flood lights in my basement and over 12000 square feet of house at that I run at about 4 times the average home in bills. THERE IS NO POSSIBLE way to burn the kWh’s described in this story.  you have fallen for yet another internet hoax

Realist on March 23, 2007 at 07:48 pm

So what you’re saying is that you’d have to be a total waster(air conditioning and heat running at the same time) in order to run up Gore’s electrical bills.

Funny that Gore didn’t dispute the figures cited, just said they didn’t matter.

Realist, they parsed out the energy usage, and one of the biggest energy hogs was the pumps and heater used to keep the “Goracle’s” swimming pool running.

Also, I’d bet that one might find that it’s fairly expensive to keep an older mansion like that of Gore’s cool in the summer--not well insulated like modern homes and so on.

And like Whistler noted, Al’s not contesting the numbers, but rather the implications.  These are real, friend.
