Double Standards: AP Trusts Obama On Ethics Probe, Didn’t Trust Palin

Back when Palin was still under scrutiny over Troopergate the AP ran with this headline over a story about Palin’s response to the ethics probe:

But when Obama released his own version of his and his staff’s involvement in the Blagojevich scandal the AP ran this much less skeptical headline:

Double standards are wonderful, aren’t they?
Like Ken Shepherd says over at Newsbusters: “Obama said it. The media believe it. And that settles it.”

It’s not really a double standard, it’s just that the media thinks that liberals always tell the truth and conservatives always lie. The average reporter is no more unbiased than Rush Limbaugh or Kieth Olberman. At least Rush and Kieth have the balls to admit where they’re coming from, unlike most reporters who ry to sneak their opinions into straight news and act like it’s unbiased.

Just re-read 1984 and Animal Farm. Things I recalled from them were nagging at me. I believe that the last paragraph of AF will be proven very, very true with the coming administration.

I keep thinking “newspeak”. The Orwellian society is upon us.
