Dorgan Blames Scott Hennen, Rush Limbaugh And Glenn Beck For His Retirement
Yesterday Scott Hennen got an interesting phone call from a listener in which he described an event at which Senator Byron Dorgan spoke in which the retiring member of Congress blamed Scott, Rush Limbaugh and Glenn Beck for his retirement.

Clip 2, starting with the caller again after the break:
I’d like to know more about this event. If any of you out there attended and can confirm this account, and perhaps maybe if you recorded the event with audio or video, I’d love to get more documentation.
I think it’s interesting that Dorgan is, at least per this report, blaming Scott Hennen (and Hennen gives me some credit as well) with his political demise. Not to toot my own horn, of that of my boss, but if Dorgan did say this he’s right to a degree. Last summer Scott Hennen and I teamed up to shine a light on where Senator Dorgan and Senator Kent Conrad would be holding town hall meetings in the state during the August recess (we would have done the same for Pomeroy…but he didn’t hold any).
The result was big, big crowds at those events all over the state. But I don’t think it was Scott and I encouraging people to go out to those events that resulted in Dorgan retiring. I think it was the scrutiny of the policy decisions Senator Dorgan has been making in office.
Hennen and I just shined the spotlight. It was Dorgan’s own politics and decisions that got him out of favor with North Dakotans. I think that’s also why Earl Pomeroy is in the race of his life this election season, and I think it’s also why there are persistent rumors that Senator Conrad won’t be running for re-election either in 2012.
They just can’t keep up the illusion any more.
