Does The Michelle Obama ‘Whitey’ Video Really Exist?

There is, allegedly and supposedly, some kind of video of Michelle Obama with Louis Farrakhan railing against 'whitey'.

Or is it 'why'd he', as explained by Jim Gerahty:

Apparently, if the tape ever comes to light, her words will sound something like:

Whitey cut folks off Medicaid? Whitey let New Orleans drown? Whitey do nothing about Jena? Whitey put us in Iraq for no reason?*

...when the intended message is,

Why'd he cut folks off Medicaid? Why'd he let New Orleans drown? Why'd he do nothing about Jena? Why'd he put us in Iraq for no reason?

As for whether the tape actually exists, Roger Stone of Fox News claims that it does, and Geraldo Rivera gives Stone props for being right about Eliot Spitzer (though not in this video linked below unfortunately, this is a shortened version):

Well speaking of Geraldo Rivera, this mysterious tape might end up having all the impact and drama of Al Capone's vault.

If not and it proves to be real, the only two white people voting for Obama this fall will be Bill Ayers and Father Pfleger.

Crossposted from Ken McCracken

...the only two white people voting for Obama this fall will be…

Once again, I’m in the camp that it wouldn’t really matter.  Most of my white friends embrace either the ‘change’ meme or guilt over their parents prejudice.  Either way this video wouldn’t change much, maybe a few important percentage points but certainly not a wholesale flipping of parties.

FlyOnTheWall on June 2, 2008 at 11:56 am

Mike Brown is simply amazing. His Party is in control of Congress, has been for quite some time. Since they assumed the majority in Congress gasoline prices have skyrocketed. Exactly why should Republicans have to answer for what his Party has done to gasoline prices?

As for Michelle, she must have slept through all those very expensive college classes concerned with English and the proper use, by a college graduate, thereof. Or was she laying on an accent, so as to play to all those Bible and gun clinging rubes in her and Barry’s church?

McCain makes racist slur against Asian people.

“I hate the gooks,” McCain said yesterday in response to a question from reporters aboard his campaign bus. “I will hate them as long as I live.” McCain, a former Navy pilot who spent five years in a Vietnamese prisoner of war camp, was questioned about the language because of a story last month in the Nation magazine reporting his continued use of the slur. Since then, reports of McCain’s language have been circulating on Internet chat sites and e-mails among Asian Americans, many of whom find the the term offensive and inappropriate for an elected official. McCain’s appeal to voters has been as a wartime hero and a feisty politician who speaks his mind and damns the consequences. But his comments on the eve of the key South Carolina primary show the candidate’s vaunted “straight talk” in another light.

“The use of a racist slur can’t be acceptable for any national leader, regardless of his background,” said Diane Chin, executive director of the San Francisco-based Chinese for Affirmative Action. “For someone running for president not to recognize the power of words is a problem.”

“Historically, straight talkers who say things off the top of their heads eventually hang themselves with those sorts of remarks,” said Bruce Cain, a political scientist at the University of California at Berkeley. McCain made no apologies yesterday.

“I was referring to my prison guards,” McCain said, “and I will continue to refer to them in language that might offend some people because of the beating and torture of my friends.” McCain made it clear that his anger extends only toward his captors. As a senator, he was one of the leaders of the postwar effort to normalize U.S. relations with Vietnam.

But the racial slur used by the senator has a long, painful history that is felt by many Asian Americans. The word “gook” was first used in 1899 by American soldiers fighting Filipino insurgents. During the Korean War, the term was aimed at Koreans and Chinese. It was directed at the Vietnamese when Americans were fighting in Vietnam. It is now used as a slur toward any Asian or Pacific Islander.

The horrors of the past cannot be an excuse for hurting people in the present, said Guy Aoki, president of the Media Action Network for Asian Americans, an anti-defamation group. “If Sen. McCain had been captured by Nigerians, could he call those people `niggers’ and think he wasn’t going to offend everyone who is black?” Akoi asked. “We can all feel for what he went through, but if that’s his level of sensitivity, I’m very disappointed.” “I will call right now, my interrogator that tortured me, a gook,” McCain said. “(I can’t believe that) anybody doesn’t believe these interrogators and prison guards were cruel and sadistic people who deserve the worst appellations possible.” McCain said he does not consider the comment an epithet.

“Gook,” he said, “is the kindest appellation I can give.”

This is not “racism”, it’s free speech.  McCain isn’t discriminating against any race, he’s expressing his opinion; there’s a difference.  Michelle and the Black Liberation Theology want to take this country away from “white people”; there’s a big difference.

McCain makes racist slur against Asian people.
“I hate the gooks,”

The slur was not against Asian people in general, but was directed towards a very specific few: his prison guards.

“I will call right now, my interrogator that tortured me, a gook,” McCain said. “(I can’t believe that) anybody doesn’t believe these interrogators and prison guards were cruel and sadistic people who deserve the worst appellations possible.”

Perhaps you think those cruel and sadistic guards were the cream of Asian society? The pinnacle of Asian achievement? Are you really so “sensitive” that you would begrudge the man to think unpleasant thoughts about the men who tortured him?

WOW, all of a sudden the NeoCon Racist are in a McCain (The Presidential Republican Nominee} apologetic mode. So, racism is OK if the people that the racist slur is targeted towards has a history of abuse towards the people that are stating the racist slur. So, it seems this illogic comatose way of thinking should apply to Michelle Obama (Not the Democratic Presidential Nominee) who may have (No proof) made racist statements against white people who historically and continues today to be a sick racist society (Massive amounts of proof that it continues today) and a sick racist Republican President who started a illegal war, spied on it’s citizens, refused to help United States Citizens in New Orleans in a timely manner and now has no support among his own disillusion White Racist NeoCon Republicans on this site. Obviously, your deranged racist ranting days are numbered. It seems Michelle can do what you guys have given McCain the right to do, call you whitey. Of course Good, Intelligent, Smart, Caring White people want to distance themselves away from your kind. Rant on,your days are surely numbered! Change will come.

Your Klan remark is, of course, gratuitous.  The only Klan member I know of is a Democrat serving in the US Senate.

As for Michelle Obama, I think there is ample reason already on the record to question her suitability to be this Nation’s First Lady, as well as her husband’s suitability to be president, never mind Commander-in-Chief, without relying on that which is not yet documented.

On the other hand, if Mrs. Obama is going to get up on the stump and give speeches, she has no right to expect not to be criticized for what she says and how she says it.  This is indeed hardball… for grownups… and not some esoteric senior thesis.

If she can’t take the heat, then perhaps she needs to get back in the kitchen.

I hate Gooks McCain:

Retreating from his adamant defense of his use of an ethnic slur, Sen. John McCain has apologized and issued a statement renouncing ``all language that is bigoted.’’

The GOP presidential candidate and former prisoner of war said he regretted any pain caused by describing his Vietnam War captors as ``gooks.’’

http://www.asianam.org/mccain.htm

Read it and weep 2HotelWHINER!!
McCain said his original use of the slur stemmed from the intense feelings he still harbors as a result of being imprisoned, held in solitary confinement and tortured so severely that he attempted suicide.  Even now, he cannot raise his arms above his head because of the injuries he received.

``For 5 1/2 years, I was mistreated by Ho Chi Minh’s henchmen. My fellow prisoners were treated even worse,’’ McCain said in his statement. ``Although I will never forgive my prison guards for the atrocities they committed against my cellmates, I have always held the people of Vietnam in the highest regard and have worked in support of the Vietnamese-American community in this country at every opportunity.

``I will continue to condemn those who unfairly mistreated us. But out of respect to a great number of people whom I hold in very high regard, I will no longer use the term that has caused such discomfort.

I deeply regret any pain I may have caused by my choice of words. I apologize and renounce all language that is bigoted and offensive, which is contrary to all that I represent and believe,’’ McCain said.

But, when you have suffered any real pain, especially torture at the hands of Asian guerrillas’ in the jungles of the shithole we call Vietnam, for years and years, then and only then can you judge whether or not the use of the word ‘gook’ was appropriate, especially when it was used of his tormentors, not all Vietnamese. The truth about Michelle

Lie:
On May 30th, Rush Limbaugh said he had heard a rumor that a tape exists of Michelle Obama using the word “Whitey” from the pulpit of Trinity United Church of Christ.

Truth:
No such tape exists. Michelle Obama has not spoken from the pulpit at Trinity and has not used that word.

Lie:
Blogger Larry Johnson wrote on May 31st that he would add “New and dramatic developments. This is a heads up. I’ll post the news Monday morning by 0900 hours. Now I know why people who have seen the videotape say it is stunning. Barack’s headaches are only starting.”

Truth:
Johnson posted no such update.

Lie:
Proven GOP sleazemeister Roger Stone said on Fox News on June 1st that “there’s a buzz, which I believe now to be credible, that some indelible record exists” of a tape of Michelle Obama using the term “whitey.”

Truth:
Stone conceded on June 2nd that he hasn’t met anyone who has seen the tape and that it therefore may be a hoax.

Lie:
“The Michelle Obama Rant Tape was filmed between June 26th - July 1st 2004 in Chicago, IL at the Rainbow/PUSH Coalition Conference at Trinity United Church: specifically the Women’s Event.”

Truth:
Michelle Obama was not on a panel, and the Rainbow Push Conference was at the Sheraton.

Proven GOP sleazemeister Roger Stone said on Fox News on June 1st that “there’s a buzz, which I believe now to be credible, that some indelible record exists” of a tape of Michelle Obama using the term “whitey.”

Again, same reason as above.

No lie, just your lying sleazemeister slur.

Your “truth about Michelle” was little more than slurs against other people.

So that’s the “truth about Michelle”, huh? Slurs. Okay then.

likwidshoe on June 13, 2008 at 12:00 am

Truth:
Michelle and Barry are using race for their political and personal gain, that makes them racists by your, and sanni’s, definition. Thanks for clearing that up, chickenhawk!

Lie:
On May 30th, Rush Limbaugh said he had heard a rumor that a tape exists of Michelle Obama using the word “Whitey” from the pulpit of Trinity United Church of Christ.

No, dumbass! A lot of us heard the rumor! I even blogged on it here myself (before Rush did, incidentally!) It is not a “lie” that he heard the rumor. The rumor was going around.
The fact that the rumor may not be true does not make his hearing of it a lie. (You lie when you say that!)
Your pathetic attempt to smear Rush because you don’t know what a rumor is, is either stupid, dishonest or malicious. (Or possibly a combination of the three.)

Back on 5/17, in a post entitled “Starting rumors for fun and profit”, I wrote:

According to The Campaign Spot, it seems that the Clinton campaign is circulating a rumor that the GOP has a video of “...Michelle Obama railing against “whitey” at Jeremiah Wright’s church.” Is it true? Who knows! Is it plausible? Well, yes!…

There was a plausible rumor flying around since at least mid May, that Michelle Obama had said some less than prudent things in a public forum. It was identified as a rumor, and while I did not doubt its plausibility, I, like most other conservative commentators, was waiting to see and hear actual evidence of what she actually said before drawing any conclusions.

Think of it as “global warming”. Al Gore is praised for pointing out the disastrous effects of man made global warming...if it is true!
Some of us commentators were simply pointing out the disastrous effects of of such a tape on the Obama campaign...if it were true!

daeppshaet’s attempt to call everyone a liar who merely pointed out the consequences...if the tape existed, is disingenuous at best!

Wow,I touched a nerve, didn’t I? Most of you sound as if you’ve been sharing Rush Limpbutt’s Oxycontin. 1)The jerk, Rush Limbaugh(company included) heard a RUMOR. 2)The Rumor contains a LIE. Not that Oxycontin ears didn’t HEAR it................on second thought, that could have been the case. Never mind.

If the video actually exists, it won’t matter much whether Michelle Obama really said “why’d he” instead of “whitey”. If it sounds even remotely like “whitey”, combined with a backdrop of either hundreds of black racist moonbats in that church of theirs roaring their approval ... or, in an alternate version, of a smiling Louis Farrakahn in the background ... it will make a gut-level, visceral imprsssion on the psyches of the middle-class independent white voters who will decide this election and Barack Obama’s campaign will be toast.

Besides, it can easily be determined from the inflection if her voice whether or not she really said “whitey” or not. If she really said “Why’d he let New Orleans drown?” the pitch of her voice will turn up at the end of the sentence as anyone’s does when asking a question. But if, in fact, she meant to say “Whitey let New Orleans drown!” then the pitch of her voice will drop at the end of the sentence as people’s voices do when they are making an emphatic statement.

Of course, all of this assumes that such a viceo actually exists, which it very well may not. But in my 48 years on this Earth, one thing I’ve learned is that where there’s smoke, there’s usually at least some fire. And there’s a lot of smoke here.

Only,Rush didn’t say it. Those who try to pretend he did are even more pathetic!
The rumor was started by a Hillary supporter. Different people reported on the rumor as it continued to circulate. Rush was just the most prominent one!

JACK, THESE BUNCH OF SPIN SNAKES VOMIT THEIR OWN SPIN AND EAT THEIR OWN PUKE. THIS IS WHAT THESE KKK GEEK BITCHES DO, SPREAD RACIST BUSH-IT, IN HOPE THAT SENSIBLE WHITE PEOPLE WILL GO KLUX OR SKIN HEAD, TURN BITTER, CLING TO THEIR GUNS AND ATTACK PEOPLE THAT DO NOT LOOK LIKE THEM. RUSH (pill popping Oxycontin head) STATED A RUMOR THAT CONTAINED A LIE AS THOUGH IT WAS THE TRUTH. HE DOES IT ALL THE TIME. READ “Rush Limbaugh Is a Big Fat Idiot” AND SO ARE THOSE THAT ARE ON THE DOWN-LOW WITH HIM.

deapp on June 14, 2008 at 10:47 pm

See, they both come unhinged because Rush has handed the left its ass so many times over the last 20 years. And they are determined to prove him correct yet again.

dip, none of us care about this rumor, her public statements already on record are all that is needed. As your pal sannitized so adroitly explained, anyone who uses race for their political or personal gain is a racist. That makes Michelle and Barry racists, by the definition which you and jack apply to Rush. Suck on it.

deappsheatt: Seems like the only one puking around here is you!

This rumor was around long before Rush ever mentioned it on his show. It was a DEMOCRAT for Hillary that started it. Every conservative I know, including Rush, was reserving judgment until they could actually hear it for themselves. (As you would know if you were bright enough to click on any of the links provided!) So if you want to ponder who is a Big Fat Idiot, try looking in the mirror! Heh.

(BTW, typing in ALL CAPS makes you sound way more intelligent than usual. Keep it up!)

Of course, no such tape exists.

I’ve heard the Obama campaign put a lot of stress on the fact that no ”tape” exists. So, if it turns out to be a DVD, they can say that they had not lied, in the Clintonian sense.

Mr. Off: We deal in truth around here. It must be a strange country to you! (Did you get a visa to visit?)
We discussed the rumor that was circulating. We discussed it as a rumor from the very beginning. It still is a rumor, though, given the Hillary Democrat who started it, less and less credible as a rumor.
I do find it at least mildly interesting that one claim was that her speech was on a DVD the church put out, and the campaign keeps saying there is no TAPE!

I said it was a plausible rumor, given the angry statements she’s made before and given the incubator of the racist, hate-spewing church she attended for twenty years.
All that is true. What part of the truth are you having trouble with, Mr. Off?

Dear (Lack of) Proof:

Larry Johnson is a CONSERVATIVE rumor monger who helped start this whisper campaign. Merely pointing out that some CONSERVATIVE repeats a smear doesn’t make it true---it just proves once again that you’ll swallow asny lie as long as you want to believe it.

You know what would constitute “proof?” THE TAPE ITSELF. But you cannot produce it because it’s a lie.

It’s not a lie as long as you believe it.

---George Costanza

That is the level of evidence that CONSERVATIVES like Mr. Johnson offer.

Pathetic.

Logic for the logic impaired:
If the Republicans had a “tape” damaging to Barack Obama, they would wait until after the Democratic convention, when it was too late for the Dems to change their candidate.
If a Hillary supporter wanted to influence delegates before the convention, they would have to release the tape, or the rumor of a tape before the convention in an attempt to derail Obama’s candidacy.

You’re welcome, Mr. Off!

When rumors are in the news, sometimes we comment on rumors. Monger? I didn’t try to sell it to anyone, unlike you who tries to sell his bullshit ideas to anyone who’ll listen!
However, if someone were to circulate the rumor that you were an honest, intelligent human being, I would withhold judgment on that baseless rumor as well!

We deal in truth around here.

If you dealt with “truth” you’d back up your smears with some evidence, but you can’t because IT’S NOT TRUE. Why can’t you get that through your thick head?

You even admit you’re spreading rumors with no basis in fact.

The only reponse you offer is the classic 3-point argument that convservatives always use:

1) Rush says it
2) I believe it
3) That ends it

That is ALL you have to offer, dude.
