Do Americans Care If Obama Smokes?

That’s the question asked by a new CNN poll, and it turns out that the vast majority of Americans don’t care if Obama smokes or not.

WASHINGTON (CNN) – Most Americans say that President Barack Obama’s struggle to quit smoking doesn’t change their views of him, according to a new national poll.
The CNN/Opinion Research Corporation survey released Friday also indicates that only a third say that they would like to see Obama give up cigarettes completely.
“Obama has admitted that he still smokes on occasion, but nearly nine in 10 Americans say that doesn’t affect their view of him and only 12 percent think that indicates something negative about Obama himself,” says CNN Polling Director Keating Holland. “Eighty-five percent believe that shows how hard it is to quit cigarettes.”

Frankly, I don’t really care if Obama smokes either. He’s a grown up. He can make his own decisions. What I’m much more concerned about is Obama and the rest of the liberals worrying about whether or not I smoke.
I don’t smoke, of course. I never have. But I don’t think it’s the government’s job to tell me whether I should smoke or not. Or even attempt to manipulate me one way or the other with taxes and regulations. Unfortunately, Obama and his fellow Democrats think that sort of nonsense is appropriate.
So as far as I’m concerned, Obama the big fat hypocrite can smoke like a chimney. Unlike him, I believe in individual freedom.

I only know I don’t. That’s his own personal demon.

1/3 of our health care dollars go to costs directly attributed to smoking. Smokers cost you and me extra money in premiums.

I care if he smokes – he might die and we would be left with BIDEN in charge.

Smoking is also a factor in heart disease, Rob, but little buzzy is bringing up a bogus issue, based on an assumption of collectivist healthcare. If people choose to smoke, they should pay the extra costs their habit incurs, and no one else should be affected on that level. The real problem is that they compromise the health of non-smokers when they light up in public areas and posted non smoking areas. Non smokers, by defintion, choose not to smoke, but they lose that choice when a smoker lights up in their vicinity. The non smokers should have to bear the extra cost of having their rights violated.

Rob’ you were the one that brought up banning things, The subject is taxing, not banning. You can not separate individual rights and health insurance. If you scarf down cheeseburgers and smoke like a chimney it affects my cost of health insurance. I say, make those responsible pay the price, not I. Let’s have some accountability for poor dietary decisions.

I could care less if BarryO smokes, the fact remains he sucks as a president.

Should we ban cheeseburgers and french fries and burritos too?

now youre getting their end goal. its sad they think how inferior everyone is.

That would be a happy day for America.

A man who is foolish but not evil. And is much MUCH smarter than the imbecile who we have in power now.

Source? I don’t believe that claim at all. The cost of smoking is often exaggerated and inflated.

It’ll be scary to see what gets banned if nationalized healthcare becomes implemented. This just serves as a reminder that more government almost always equals less freedom.

I’m among those that would say: Out of ALL the things to be worried about in re to BHO…THIS IS THE LEAST OF MY WORRIES re his actions!

Yes, we could have just simple stupid policy rather than stupid Chicago politics. (It sounds like sarcasm but it’s not. I really mean would much prefer Biden.)

Found this out recently, the premiums paid by employing companies assume the HIGHEST risk level of the employees. They can’t ask or enforce so the just charge everyone as if they are high risk.

Another reason to avoid govt health care. It doesn’t have real provisions for cost reduction except rationing.

    Sanity:

Don’t just worry about Biden if Barry dies, look at the rest of the line-up to: Biden-Pelosi-Byrd-Rodham Clinton-Geithner.

    God help us.

On this blog, it’s usually minimized or denied.

A greater portion of our health care dollars go do things like heart disease too. Should we ban cheeseburgers and french fries and burritos too?

Or should we recognize that health care should be an individual responsibility, and that people should be free to both live their lives as they would and pay for their own health care?
