DNC Enters The Cookie Controversy

Lately the AP has been making some noise about cookies on government webistes. First was this alarmist bit of yellow journalism about cookies on the NSA website. Then today the AP ran a similar story about cookies on the White House website.
Leftists are already picking up on this as more “evidence” of “illegal” spying by the NSA. Yet before these folks get too carried away they may want to take a look at the cookies currently being deployed by the DNC’s official website:

DNC Cookies

Oh no! Howard Dean knows about all the websites I visit!
Somebody call the ACLU!

I see you make the common mistake among your mindset of “if not A, then must be B.”

Even given that, last I checked, the DNC wasn’t in Government, nor had the DNC issued strict guidelines for cookie drops.

But you go right on, and slavishly support anything your Lord does. I recommend, however, that you choose your words carefully, because “say anything” might not be such a good idea since you don’t know what the crawlers are searching for…

that the NY Times, the AP, CNN, and the usual media suspects all had no problem putting their own cookies into his computer, and they were all set to expire anywhere up to 30 years from today’s date. Say Anything and Wizbang also have screenshots of said liberal cookies foisted onto their computers from the DNC website. That is because these media outlets and the DNC care oh-so-deeply about your online privacy.

His “Lord”? Way to get ridiculous there JollyRoger.

Comments like that tend to negate and deflect from your previous points.

Jolly, please explain how a cookie can be used to track a person’s web history, because from the analysis I’ve seen that isn’t even possible.

And if you’re scared about the NSA possibly tracking your web activity, shouldn’t you be just as scared that Democrats are apparently doing the same thing? Further, what about your ISP? They know everywhere you go, and as far as I know have no statutory obligation to keep that private. All of them do out of courtesy for their customers, but I don’t think they’re required to.
