Dirty Laundry Aired In Public: Anonymous Palin Enemy Alleges That Sarah Cheated On Todd

I’ll grant that the National Enquirer was right about John Edwards’ extra-marital affair (and Limbaugh’s drug problems too), but when they were right about Edwards it took months and months for the story to make it into the media despite pictures and multiple confirmed sources.  It wasn’t until Edwards himself acknowledged the affair that anyone in the media was willing to cover it.

But now some anonymous source that the Enquirer readily identifies as an “enemy” of the Palins comes for and alleges an affair between Sarah and one of her husband’s friends and suddenly the media thinks this is legitimate news.

Here’s an excerpt of the Enquirer story via Byron York:

Another incredible allegation emerging from the family war is that Palin, a mother of five, had an affair with a former business associate of her fisherman husband, Todd.

“Todd discovered the affair and quickly dissolved his friendship and his business associations with the guy,” charges an enemy. “Many people in Alaska are talking about the rumor and say Todd swept it under the rug.”

[...]

The ugly family feud stems from a three-year battle between the 44-year-old governor and her former brother-in-law, state trooper Mike Wooten.

“Sarah has many enemies in her hometown – but a lot of them are in her own extended family,” a source close to the Palin family told The Enquirer.

Family members loyal to Wooten are now waging a campaign to drag Palin’s reputation through the mud.

Sounds like sour grapes to me.  Until someone is willing to go on record with this in a not-anonymous fashion I’m not buying a word of it.

As far as the charges I have to issue a no-comment.

However now that infidelity is an issue, lets hear about Obama and Biden’s pasts?

I mean we’ve heard about McCain’s past problems....

What’s going to happen to US industry when the global warming extremists like John McCain double the price of electricity?  I would think all these factories will close and set up in countries where they aren’t scared of technology.

Let’s wallow with the ferral for a minute.
Suppose it is a complete truth.
Why, all of a sudden is it a terrible thing to run around when no one had a problem with clintoon nor edwards doing it?
edwards did it against his CANCER-STRICKEN wife & then lied against those that presented the news!
clintoon potentially put National secrets in jeopardy & then lied to the face of America.
Again, why would it bother a leftist now?
Hypocracy, democrat is thy name.

Without an honest exchange of ideas, how can a mind grow?

John McCain’s campaign threatened legal action against the National Enquirer today for running a story about McCain’s running mate, Sarah Palin, allegedly having an affair with her husband’s business partner.
“Legal action will be considered with regard to this disgraceful smear.”

I hope they do go after that rag page of a news source.. but I admit, I do love their alien tidbits

Have the mainstream newspaper completed the task of making themselves irrelevant?

Seems so to me when the Enquirer is the out front paper, hopefully this time WRONG…

No wonder most of those Congress men, women and Senators up there in Washington are JackAsses and Leaches of the Public Fund.
You Flat can’t get very many “Good” people to subject themselves to the Public Flogging you get when you run for Office.

I don’t believe the unfaithful rumor.  I have heard several reports that she was asked that exact question among other very probing questions while being vetted.

A political party cannot be all things to all people. It must represent certain fundamental beliefs which must not be compromised to political expediency, or simply to swell its numbers.

Small town politics do get nasty!

As far as her having an affair goes… who cares besides the evangelicals? It strikes me that her husband has apparently forgiven her, if this is true. I don’t think this reflects on her ability to perform as VEEP. Some people do. They would be best advised to inoculate themselves against being bothered by others’ private business (e.g. National Enquirer, Ken Starr, r108, all the anti-civil union folks, etc.).

I think other things impede Palin’s attractiveness as VEEP such as her creationism boosting, her earmarks, etc.

I’d like to see some discussion of international relations policy, welfare policy, etc. We have to stop paying fat, unemployable or disabled people to do nothing or to have more kids. We have to stop welfare, full stop. Its inhumane, the amount of irresponsible sots that system turns out. We need better education in this country. We need to spend money on fundamental, non-applied, science if we expect to maintain our 1st world status in the long term (Reagan killed that between ‘80 and ‘84). We need to stop privatizing our military and our government. Those two things are not supposed to be owned by private hands. We need to stop farming out security work and intelligence work to private entities. We need to stop spying on our own citizens and acting like East Germany used to (St.Paul). States’ rights need to be respected. Schaivo-style interventions need to be booed not cheered. Flagrant spending like we’ve seen under Bush needs to be curbed. We need to sit down and talk about being suckered into long term, expensive, low intensity wars with people who explicitly wish to sucker us into those sorts of wars. If we don’t wage war in an economically and tactically conscious manner, we are going to blow our wad before the real fighting starts. We need to reappraise our failed policy of propping up shoddy, illegitimate, repressive leaders around the world. View Pakistan and Iran, for example. We also need to talk seriously about taxing fat people. If you have to register for service when you are 18, you had best be ready for service. If you are too fat to serve, you should be taxed.

And we need to talk about other important stuff too.

So what if she had an affair - makes her appear more human and a bit hypocritical = a successful mixture for politicians…
