Dick Morris Releases Web Video Endorsing Duane Sand
We all know that alleged “tea party” candidate Duane Sand got the endorsement of author, Fox News contributor and former Clinton administration adviser Dick Morris (what tea party campaign is complete without the endorsement of Dick Morris?), but today the Sand campaign released this web video of Morris explaining his endorsement.
Whatever consternation there may be among North Dakotans with Rick Berg, and there is some, I don’t think that’s going to translate into a lot of support for Duane Sand who has never won an election in the state despite being on the ballot three times. I think most Republicans deciding this nomination are going to be more interested in beating back Heidi Heitkamp, and a Sand nomination will be seen (rightfully) as letting the Heitkamp and the Dems into a race that his heavily favored to go Republican.
In related news, a recent campaign fundraising pitch mailed out by the Sand campaign to North Dakotans (I got it, and I’ve spoken with several friends who got it as well) included the invitation below to a $1,000/person fund raiser at a posh restaurant in New York City.
Could Sand possibly be any more tone deaf? How many North Dakota citizens are going to shell out several thousand dollars for a trip to New York for the opportunity to give Sand another $1,000? Especially coming on top of fundraising efforts in which Sand got just a slight minority of fundraising dollars from North Daotans.
Though, to be fair, Berg is doing his fair share of big-money, out-of-state fundraising.
