Diane Feinstein Wants To Make Free Trade A Crime

If Senator Feinstein gets her way, if you sell your ticket to Obama’s inauguration to someone else you should be guilty of a federal crime.

WASHINGTON (AP) — The senator overseeing Barack Obama’s swearing-in ceremony is writing to Internet sites like eBay asking them not to sell scalped inauguration tickets.
Senator Dianne Feinstein of California is also writing a bill that would make it a federal crime to scalp tickets to the historic event January 20.
Feinstein, who chairs the Joint Congressional Committee on Inaugural Ceremonies, says she foresees overwhelming demand for the 240,000 available tickets and has heard reports of them being sold for as much as $40,000 online.
The tickets are supposed to be free to the public and distributed through congressional offices. The offices won’t get the tickets until shortly before the inauguration, to try to prevent scalping.

But what if some poor person sells their ticket and uses it to buy food? Or pay down their credit card debt? Doesn’t that stimulate the economy?
Why can’t free citizens trade with other free citizens without US Senators getting involved?

The message is obvious! It's alright for our politicians to suck money out of everything that passes through their hands, but not for the 'common citizen'.

Who does it harm to sell a free ticket to a willing buyer?

Typical elitist attitude…. get used to it…. plenty of hypocritical, nanny-state, crapola to go around…

Personally, I would like to see that only households that have paid income tax during the current election cycle have an eligibility to vote. No parasites allowed to influence public policy!

Additionally, I would move the income tax filing date to the Friday before the election……

but that's just me….

Do you think that maybe Di-Fi is trying to keep out the riff raff? Recent history tells us that certain members of her party were willing to sneak members of Code Pink into Senate hearings and infiltrate the Republican convention.

Maybe she's afraid that the same tactic would be used by dissident (and rowdy) voices in the Democratic coalition, if they had access (and cash for a ticket), to raise a banner or two, maybe voice a contrarian point of view and mar the coronation of King Obama I ?

I can't believe I'm agreeing w/ Ollie, also. Pilgrim, you were right about Feinstein. Her face along with Pelosi's and Sheehan's are nightmare inducing. The three of them make Hillary look like a babe, and that's saying something!
