DHS Creating An “Information Sharing” Partnership With Muslim Brotherhood-Affiliated Groups

I tagged this post with “Politics”, but only because there isn’t a “Really Bad Idea” tag. Taking a page from the British, Janet Napolitano and the Department of Homeland Security are creating a partnership program with Muslim groups, including several who are have ties to the Muslim Brotherhood.

The group is to meet regularly with DHS senior aides and with Napolitano. This program was imported from the United Kingdom. The Obama administration has decided to replicate the UK program to win over Muslims and to get them to collaborate with the federal government.
Although Matthew Chandler, deputy press secretary and spokesman for Secretary Napolitano, refused to comment on the meetings or identify the groups that attended the two-day session, Pajamas Media has learned the identities of a number of the participants and interviewed them — including those linked to the Muslim Brotherhood.
The program requires bringing in Muslim groups as “partners” in a two-way information sharing program.

This makes perfect sense, as the U.K. has had such glowing success in dealing with Muslim radicals. No, seriously, this is a bad idea on so many levels. Not the idea of meeting with Muslim groups in general; I think it could be useful in building in law-abiding Muslims the belief that the American government is no threat to them and that they are valued in American society. But mixing radicalized groups like the Muslim Brotherhood and affiliated sects is asking for trouble. It’s legitimizing thugs and demeaning those groups that are truly peaceful. It also opens the door to violent groups inadvertently getting their hands on classified info. The Muslim Brotherhood doesn’t need a direct line to the DHS.
A former intelligence official put it best;

The Muslim Brotherhood groups suggested it. We went over there and got it. We thought it was a great idea and now we’re using it. It’s the enemy giving us a way to destroy ourselves.
