Democrats Stalling On Stripping Governor Blagojevich Of His Appointment Power

I really don’t know what the problem is. He’s on tape trying to sell the Senate seat. What’s left to debate?

Dec. 16 (Bloomberg) — Democrats in the Illinois House of Representatives postponed stripping Governor Rod Blagojevich’s power to fill the U.S. Senate seat vacated by President-elect Barack Obama that prosecutors say Blagojevich tried to sell.
The governor, a Chicago Democrat, retains authority to appoint Obama’s successor while the House pursues an impeachment process that may last weeks. Democratic lawmakers led by House Speaker Michael Madigan dropped plans late yesterday to schedule a special election to fill the post after failing to agree in a closed-door meeting, said Steve Brown, a Madigan aide.

Something tells me there wouldn’t be a hold up if Blago were a Republican.

If they have a special election and it’s coming out in spades that Democrats are corrupt, it might put another Republican in the Senate. I think that’s what’s up. They’re trying to figure out a way around that.

The problem is, that if they impeach Blagojevich for trying to sell Obama’s old Senate seat, that might indicate that they think there is something wrong with that.

    And they don’t.
