Democrats Release Sarah Palin’s SSN, Home Addresses

Good grief…

The Politico has received an opposition research file from the Alaska Democrats. You can read it in PDF here.
In the file, the Democrats have released Sarah Palin’s social security number minus the last four digits. Also tied to the information are her various home addresses.
Back in 2005, Democrats used Michael Steele’s social security number to get his credit record.

Just for review: Democrats oppose a government program that builds a database of phone calls placed in America for the purposes of tracking terrorist communications, but are more than happy to release full reports of personal information about Republicans – including Social Security numbers and home addresses.

    Those reports are built on data culled from credit records (among other sources) and releasing them even with the SSN’s obscured is a big no-no.

    The unauthorized releasing of SSAN and/or credit information is technically a violation of the federal Fair Credit Reporting Act. Chuck Schumer and his two “research” bimbos from the DSCC weren’t prosecuted for the violation regarding Michael Steele, but they certainly should have been.

    Kinda hard to rationalize that the people who kept over 100 pages of John Kerry’s records from public scrutiny, scrutiny that was repeatedly promised by the candidate himself, would now stoop to this level in their zeal for “opposition research.”

    As I’ve dug deeper, I see the minute angle puzzlefeet is using to refute the report.
    Several are at the different blogs using the exact same arguement.
    THEIR POINT IS THAT IF THE COMPLETE NUMBER isn’t released, then it can’t be said that it was.
    Because it’s reported that all but the last 4 numbers were included, in their mind, it wasn’t released.
    Kinda like edwards saying the reports of him committing adultry on his cancer-stricken Wife were lies because minute details were wrong.
    Like obama using a wrong marriage date to claim an entire expose on him was a lie.
    While technically correct, by releasing all but the last 4 digits, the democrats enable anyone with the initiative to do harm the basis to complete the number.
    So….

I do what is necessary to get across to people who are so emotionally triggered that the majority of their thinking brain is turned off. Don’t confuse the style with the person.     Rob, the link you posted isn’t working. So I went to Politico and looked at the report. Can you tell me what page the Social Security number was revealed? I noticed on one of the last pages the SSN is totally blacked out. Can you link to the report you have that shows the last 4 numbers of the SSN? Thanks.

    The addresses would be public records in any property tax office.

    Oppo research is done on all candidates, but they shouldn’t have released it to the news. They can certainly do their own research.

    As someone who spent a great deal of time in property tax offices I can tell you that isn’t really true. You can get it sometimes, but there are a million-and-one ways to legally conceal that info if you want to.

    On the SSN thing, the report looked to me like the sort of report you’d buy from a database company like Choicepoint. Those reports are built on data culled from credit records (among other sources) and releasing them even with the SSN’s obscured is a big no-no.

    As for Democrats releasing opposition research to the media, they do it all the time. Remember Barry O. giving the media talking points on Jerome Corsi’s new book?

    But I’m sure you think it’s ok because Democrats are doing it and you never criticize the liberals.
