Democrats Have The Most Trust For Politicians

I’m shocked:

Twenty percent (20%) of Democrats trust America’s political leaders more than the American people, the highest level of support for the politicians found among any measured demographic group. But 63% of Democrats trust the general public more.
Among Republicans, 83% trust people more than politicians as do 76% of those not affiliated with either major party.

It’s nice to see that these poll respondents, in so far as they represent American attitudes in general, have a healthy distrust of those in power. Though that doesn’t explain why we keep electing politicians who want to seize more power (more taxes, more spending, more government programs, more regulations) for the government and the politicians that run it.
If America really has this level of distrust for politicians, then why do we keep voting for politicians who keep making the government bigger and more overbearing?

Jesus, every time I see that picture I think of the B52s and REM on stage together… could someone please have a B-52 drop a load on Athens Georgia, for the sake of the children?

[The vote by party should be abandon; I also question its consitutionality].

You guys throw arount the word constitutionality like you know what it means. If you are going to say something is unconstitutional provide a theory. “I don’t like it when I lose” is not a theory.

Rob, Obama was elected not for his political views but as a celebrity and the congressional dems got swept in along with him. [The vote by party should be abandon; I also question its consitutionality]. Americans are prone to worship celebrity idols.

Take a good look at Washington’s expression in the painting behind these morons. It’s as if he is saying “after all I went through to form this nation, and these are the leaders you’re stuck with?!”.

“When you become entitled to exercise the right of voting for public officers, let it be impressed on your mind that God commands you to choose for rulers, “just men who will rule in the fear of God.” The preservation of [our] government depends on the faithful discharge of this Duty; if the citizens neglect their Duty and place unprincipled men in office, the government will soon be corrupted; laws will be made, not for the public good so much as for selfish or local purposes; corrupt or incompetent men will be appointed to execute the Laws; the public revenues will be squandered on unworthy men; and the rights of the citizen will be violated or disregarded. If [our] government fails to secure public prosperity and happiness, it must be because the citizens neglect the Divine Commands, and elect bad men to make and administer the Laws.”
-History of United States by Noah Webster.

Some should shove this in obama-bin-ladens face.

What other choice do we have? Unless you have the capability of raising millions of dollars, which very few of us do, you don’t have a chance at even getting a nomination. Therefore, we are left to choose from only the elite ass kissers.

Why? Because there are so few checks and balances on the system once elections are over. On the way to power, they play conquer and divide trying to be multiple things to multiple people, promising all sorts of things.

Their conscience says “no, this is wrong” but in today’s society with a near-saturation level message of “do unto others then split” and “you’re a victim” and “you can’t do, only someone else can” that conscience is already blubbing out from under the waters of incoherence. The politicians give that last bit needed to drown it with promises of hope and rewards.

We’re all constantly told of how bad whatever is, how someone else is getting what should be ours, and how we are powerless and need to look to someone else. We know it, but the siren call comes and divide and conquer starts and we’re selling each other and ourselves out.

The majority of anything said by politicians is a lie. It is the nature of the system at this point. Without some way of preventing them from using their prerogatives in some way that is purely designed to act as quid pro quo political action, but rather keep them to structures, we don’t have a hope of changing it. Especially since they are the ones who would write any such rules and simple human nature is that without societal and social systems that encourage propriety and ethical behavior on the part of those with power and privilege at the leisure of the people, they will not act to constrain themselves.

Thus the republic comes to disrepute among its own body politic and a slide from the loft height of men exhibiting a sublime understanding of the sacrifices made and choices acted upon to forgo the rule of the jungle in favor of peace and justice to a time of men ignorant of the damage they do by the disrespect they sow for the enterprise.

The worst is yet to come.

Good point, Doc. It wasn’t an election. It was American Idol.

    Whose the party of business?

Two-thirds of voters believe that big government and big business typically work together in ways that harm American voters and consumers.
