Democrats Have Launched 300 Investigations In Last 100 Days

It’s three new “investigations” (code for “partisan fishing trips") every single day for the Democrats in Congress who have apparently accomplished nothing else aside from these investigations except renaming a few post offices.

The White House on Thursday pushed back against congressional investigations of the Bush administration and said lawmakers should spend more time passing bills to solve domestic problems.

In a constitutional showdown with Congress, the administration claimed executive privilege and rejected demands for White House documents about the firings of eight U.S. attorneys.

The House and Senate Judiciary committees have set a deadline of 10 a.m. next Monday for the White House to explain its basis for the claim.

The administration has not said when or if it will respond. Spokesman Scott Stanzel said Thursday the White House has received a many requests for information since Democrats took control of Congress in January and has turned over 200,000 pages of documents.

“They’ve launched over 300 investigations, had over 350 requests for documents and interviews and they have had over 600 oversight hearings in just about 100 days,” Stanzel said.

I understand that the Democrats campaigned on an “accountability for Bush” agenda.  Heck, there are some things I think Bush should be investigated over.  But 300 investigations?

C’mon.  This isn’t about accountability.  This is about partisan politics, pure and simple.

Update: This is a good point in the comments.  With Congressional approval ratings at 14%, can anyone honestly say that Americans want all of these investigations?

300 investigations in 100 days?

Well, we can see where the Democrats’ real priorities lie!
In light of this, 14% approval rating sounds a bit high!

oversight as obstruction and a roundabout way of violating the seperation of powers.

Heard Charles Rangel on the radio yesterday defend this by saying that in the last 6 years there have been zero(0) investigations. Talk about the unmitigated gall of a bald-faced liar, that takes the cake.

So, that whole Scooter Libby/Valerie Plame thing was...a cake walk??

I guess the difference between liberals and conservatives is that when convervatives think “The 300 “, they think of sacrifice and bravery. When liberals think of the 300, they’re thinking gotcha partisan politics!

No, this is about knowing that anyone who ignores the Constitution like Bush has done illegal things and trying to find out what they are.

Besides, they might pass some laws if they didn’t have this to do.

The reason that our laws aren’t enforced now is because there are just too many of them. It has turned our system of laws and enforcement into a farce.

EWS48: You are taking Democrat Party accusations of guilt against Bush as being the same thing as proof of guilt. Further, you do not understand our Constitution, you do not understand Separation of Powers and the fact that Congress IS NOT the superior branch of government. You could not honestly say Bush has done anything illegal, except for your extreme bias and BDS!

"Heck, there are some things I think Bush should be investigated over.”

Oh? Do tell. What are ‘some things’?

Why don’t (my fellow) Republicans have the guts to stand up and say what’s right—? If violations of the law took place, is it really worth investigating? Really?

Maybe we should ask that Bush follow the letter of the law, and see another 9/11 because we wanted to see the FISA obeyed. Great! How about the right to a speedy and public trial, or freedom from cruel and unusual punishment (torture) which the SCoTUS ruled applies to detainees? There is a reason that we’re detaining them—they’re terrorists—and if we have to suspend some of our rights, we should do it until the war on terror is over, an excellent point that Michael Savage made in ‘Savage Nation.’ (Not shilling for the book, sorry).

The only right terrorist could possibly have is their choice of execution.  Anyway, most Islamic terrorist are NOT American citizens so the rights in our constitution do not apply.  Internationally, terrorists have no Geneva convention rights.

You don’t have to be a moron to be a liberal Democrat but it sure helps.

I fully support the terrorists’ right to die.

I think we should keep them alive doing tasks that they see as women’s work. No martyrdom for you, fella, just humiliation.

More bureaucracy from the Democrats? Never!
It seems to me (as an outside observer), that the D’s lack the balls (and perhaps leadership) to directly challenge Bush, so resort to undermining his authority.

Robin, Savage is a moron. Surrendering your rights will not make you safer. Hunting down and killing terrorists will. Don’t arrest them. Don’t capture them. They have chosen to murder their own children and women, therefore they have only the right to death. So sayeth the Qur’an. Imams and mullahs don’t want people to know that small fact.

Flamer, keeping them as slaves to clean out sewer systems and hog farms does have its appeal. I prefer waterboarding them. If they really want to die for their God all they have to do is inhale. Then you resuscitate them and explain that they can not have death until WE give it to them. Then lock them back in their 6x6 concrete box and let them ponder that.
