Democrats Giving Up On Drilling Ban Completely?

If they do it’ll be a huge victory for Republicans, though one likely to be overshadowed by the financial mess that’s in the headlines.

House Democrats will allow a quarter-century ban on drilling for oil off the Atlantic and Pacific coasts to expire next week.
Appropriations Committee Chairman David Obey is telling reporters that language continuing the moratorium will be omitted this year from a spending bill to keep the government in operating funds after Congress recesses for the election.

Remember that in order for the drilling ban to end Congress needs to do exactly nothing. So by postponing the moratorium Democrats – who will be unlikely to have the political capital to invest into stating a new ban when Congress resumes – are effectively killing it.
Which comes as a bit of a silver lining in a week full of bad news.

she is banking on having a full democrat congress in 2009 so they can ban it forever she is nuts and will do anything to save the planet she should be in a mental ward somewhere . dangerous is not the word for pelosi she has impeded the flow of oil which is vital to national security and nothing can replace oil, but Russia will have tons of it and could easily beat us in a war . using the reserve is a bad idea also we should have a few million barrels in the reserve as I type this stupid post . Nancy Pelosi is the modern day Napoleon nutty as a fruit cake , I look for her to use the stance of Napoleon when they return from break, the one where he has his hand inside his coat .

Now we just need to open up Alaska.

Nah .. some where, some how, some way, Pelosi has a back up plan that will prevent drilling.
The ban may expire, but have no doubt, Pelosi and her entourage of lemmings will have something to replace it

    It sounds fishy.
    It also contains this:

But Democrats decided not to use the must-pass measure as a battering ram to carry an extension of unemployment benefits for the long-term jobless past White House veto promises, prompting grumbling among some lawmakers. Efforts to boost food stamps and give states billions of dollars to help with Medicaid bills also fell through.

While the ban is lifted doesn’t that mean that people could in essence get new leases before the dems were able to get a new ban started?

Now speaking of enemies they are our enemies and we need to go to war with these idiots and stop them even if we have to do like the Japanese and lock em up and haul them to shore like they did when they attacked the whale boat , that was funny ha ha ha . I am for clean air but these people want to revert back to the stone age and I am unwilling to go there. We have a steel mill close by and they have clean air there, used to you could not hang your clothes out to dry they would turn orange, same with clean coal power plants they have cleaned up their act and they still want to stop it which shows they have another item on the agenda and that is to kill our economy. I view all green headed nuts as my enemy . they are totally out of reality. Nuke em till they turn green and glow in the dark.

Dodd was quoted as saying the ban will be renewed after the first of the year.

In other words, after the heat is off the election!

This will only camouflage their next layer of crap to stop America from utilizing our own resources. Democrats and environazis are, as we speak, filing multiple lawsuits in local, county, state and Federal courts. Bet your ass on it.
